Memory Value SAS and Data Center NVMe SSDs with That of Enterprise
SATA SSDs
In Principled Technologies (PT) hands-on testing, Toshiba Memory SSDs allowed an HPE ProLiant
DL385 Gen10 server to complete an analytics query set in less time than SATA SSDs, which makes
vital business insights available earlier.
Durham, NC, June 21, 2019 --(PR.com)-- When making data-driven business decisions, fast data
analysis is important. Selecting the right storage for the servers that run analytics workloads can translate
to running queries more quickly and putting data into the hands of decision-makers sooner.
PT ran a data analytics workload on HPE ProLiant Gen10 servers configured with three different kinds of
solid-state drives: Toshiba Memory RM5 Series value SAS and CD5 Series data center NVMe™ SSDs,
and enterprise SATA SSDs. According to the report, “In hands-on testing in our data center, the Toshiba
Memory value SAS and data center NVMe SSDs completed a 22-query data analytics workload in 25 and
45 percent less time, respectively, than the enterprise SATA SSDs.” In addition, the Toshiba SSDs had up
to 86% lower average data-read latency and were up to 39% more cost efficient compared to the
enterprise drives.
