Written Test and Interviews for M.Tech Admissions 2019-20

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Answers to the following frequently asked questions by the shortlisted
applicants for Written Test and Interviews for admission to M.Tech
programme in Civil Engineering Specialisations are given below:

1. Which are the specializations that are having both Written Test and
Interview?

Answer: There will be written test and interview for CE-2

(Geotechnical Engineering) and CE-4 (Structural Engineering).

Only the shortlisted candidates based on their performance in

the written test will be allowed to appear for interview in
these disciplines (CE-2 and CE-4).

There will be only interviews for all the other specialisations

viz., CE-1, (Transportation Systems Engineering), CE-3 (Water
Resources Engineering), CE-5 (Ocean Engineering), CE-6
(Remote Sensing) and CE-7 (Construction Technology and
Management)

2. What is the syllabus for Written Test?

Answer: The aptitude of the candidates based on the

knowledge gained up to and including their qualifying degree
with major emphasis on the relevant specialisations in which
they are taking the test will be examined.

3. What are the venues and timings for Written Test and Interview?

Answer: All the candidates have to report to Civil Engineering

Department at 8.30 a.m. on 14th May 2019. The candidates
will be then directed to the respective venues of Written Test
and Interview. All the candidates are requested to bring their
Original Gate Score Card and other relevant documents as
mentioned in the call letter for appearing in Written Test and
Interview.

Venues and Timing for Written Test:-

 CE-4 (Structural Engineering)
Venue: LA001, LA002 and LA201 in Lecture Hall Complex
Timing: 9.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m.

CE-2 (Geotechnical Engineering)

Venue: LA001, LA002 and LA201 in Lecture Hall Complex
Timing: 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 am

Kindly note that the venue for Written Test is within 5 minutes of
walking distance from the Civil Engineering Department Building.

4. What are the venues and schedule for Interviews?

Answer: Interviews will be held in Civil Engineering

Department Building on 14th & 15th May, 2019. The exact
schedule for Interviews will be displayed at the Department
on 14th May 2019.

5. Are there any alternate dates possible for Written Test and Interviews
for candidates who cannot attend on 14th & 15th May, 2019 due to
various reasons?

Answer: No alternate dates are possible.

However, candidates having qualifying degree related examinations

can appear for Written Test and Interview on 19 th May, 2019.
Candidates have to bring the proof (Letter from the concerned
authority) of having University Examinations on 14th & 15th May,
2019.

6. Is it possible to change the information given by me in my

application?

Answer: No. It is absolutely not possible.

7. What are the arrangements for Accommodation during the Written

Test and Interviews?

Answer: Please refer the details provided in the “Hostel

Accommodation” link on IIT Bombay M.Tech Admission page
which will be uploaded soon.
