Also oil density must be 7owt% or more. If To and Tdis meet above conditions, oil density can be over 70wt%. As flood-back has the bad influences shown below onto the compressor, it must be avoided a) The amount of oil circulating in the refrigerant circuit increases and the amount of refrigerant cil in the compressor is reduced, b) The refrigerant oil is diluted by liquid refrigerant, so the lubricating performance decreases in the bearings and other sliding parts. In the consequence, abnormal wear or seizure may occur". * Even if liquid compression occurs, the pressure at the compression chamber does not rise hardly as our scroll compressor has an axial compliance m 1-2). Therefore, the dilution of the refrigerant oil is an important matter in case of flood-back for our mechanism inside the compressor (refer to i scroll compressors. In order to prevent flood-back, the refrigerant charge amount must be reduced or a suitable accumulator must be installed in the suction line on the unit side (3) Prevention of liquid refrigerant confinement When a compressor has been inactive for a long time, a large amount of refrigerant dissolves in the refrigerant oil. This phenomenon is called confinement of migration When the compressor is started in this condition, the following negative effects occur. a) As the amount of the refrigerant oil carried out of the compressor increases, the amount of refrigerant oil inside the compressor is reduced. b) The refrigerant oil is diluted by liquid refrigerant, so the Lubricating performance decreases in the bearings and other sliding parts. In the consequence, abnormal wear or seizure may occur. ©) Ifa glass terminal is soaked in liquid refrigerant and oil, insulation resistance drops greatly. As R-407C or R-410A refrigerant has low electric insulating compared with R-22 refrigerant (refer to item 2-1-1)), the drop of insulation resistance at this time is larger in the compressors for R-407C or R-410A refrigerant compared with the compressors for R-22 refrigerant. Therefore, this entry of liquid refrigerant into the compressor should be prevented. This can be done by reducing the reffigerant charge amount, installing an accumulator on the unit side, or using a crankcase heater. (4) Accumulator An accumulator is installed in the suction line to protect the compressor from the negative effects described at above item (2). An accumulator must have a sufficient capacity to be able to temporarily control a large return of liquid refrigerant.
