THESIS ANALYSIS

Tittle :

IMPROVING WRITING SKILL THROUGH ESA OF THE EIGHTH GRADE


STUDENTS OF SMP NEGERI 1 TAMPAKSIRING GIANYAR
IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2016/2017

Category : Classroom Action Research (CAR)

1. Ontology :

Based on the background, the other problems will be caused by the students of
SMP Negeri 1 Tampaksiring who have low achievement on basic grammar, spelling,
and organizing idea. The teaching learning process sometimes will be boring for the
students because the teacher cannot apply or choose the teaching technique very
well. In accordance with the background above the researcher decides to use ESA as
one of the preferable techniques because it has some structure steps in teaching
which make the students easier in learning.

2. Epistemology :

The researcher used classroom action research which means there are
problems that have to be solved and improve the student’s ability. In the beginning
of the paragraph, the researcher started with the definition of writing and how
important writing skill is. Continued to mention some theories from experts and also
tell some reasons why students have a problem of writing skill. From the fifth
paragraph, the researcher mention about the result from the interview, what kinds of
problem and then finding the best technique to be chosen to solve the problem. To
support it, the researcher observer the students’ ability, the weaknesses and why
students’ didn’t interest with writing skill. At the end, the researcher find the best
expert opinion about the technique and how to use this technique correctly.

3. Axiology :

a. For the researcher : Provide solution and any changes in way of learning
and teaching.
b. For the Teacher : Provide a new method to teach the students.
c. For Students : Make the students easier in learning.
Das Solen :

a. Writing is one of the productive skills which play important role in


transferring the information in written form. (Paragraph 1)

Das Sein :

a. If the writers are talking about writing, it is not easy because they need to
consider about what they are going to write and also need to fulfill our
brain with ideas. (Paragraph 3)
b. In addition, the other problems will be caused by the students of SMP
Negeri 1 Tampaksiring who have low achievement on basic grammar,
spelling, and organizing idea. (Paragraph 5)
c. Consequently, the teaching learning process sometimes will be boring for
the students because the teacher cannot apply or choose the teaching
technique very well. (Paragraph 5)
d. On the other side, if students get stuck in drafting and could not continue to
the next step it will make them lazy to learn how to write a good paragraph
especially descriptive paragraph. (Paragraph 6)
e. In conclusion, writing is not an easy skill that the students can do without
knowledge. (Paragraph 8)
