a. Intellectual Property
According to Dictionary, Intellectual Property is a work or invention that is the result of creativity, such as
a manuscript or a design, to which one has rights and for which one may apply for a patent,
copyright, trademark, etc.

b. WIPO
The annual Global Innovation Index (GII) ranks the world’s economies according to their
innovative capacity and outputs, using some 80 indicators ranging from education investments
to IP filings and mobile-app creation. In more than a decade of existence, the GII has become a
useful tool for decision makers planning their innovation policies and programs. The 2019
edition will be launched on July 24 in New Delhi, India.

c. Copyright
Copyright refers to the legal right of the owner of intellectual property. In simpler terms,
copyright is the right to copy. This means that the original creators of products and anyone they
give authorization to are the only ones with the exclusive right to reproduce the work.

d. Patent
A patent is a form of intellectual property that gives its owner the legal right to exclude others
from making, using, selling, and importing an invention for a limited period of years, in exchange
for publishing an enabling public disclosure of the invention.

e. Trademark
A trademark, trade mark, or trade-mark is a recognizable sign, design, or expression which
identifies products or services of a particular source from those of others, although trademarks
used to identify services are usually called service marks.

f. Industrial Design
Industrial design is a process of design applied to products that are to be manufactured through
techniques of mass production. Its key characteristic is that design is separated from
manufacture

g. Geographical Origin
A geographical indication (GI) is a sign used on products that have a specific geographical
origin and possess qualities or a reputation that are due to that origin
