5. SPECIFICATION CLAUSE
The specification requirements for Rubbed Concrete works are described within Project Technical
Specification of Architectural Works and For Construction Design Drawings as follows:
5.1.1.Materials:
5.1.1.1. SKIM COAT
5.1.1.2. Brand Name: GRANDFIX SKIM COAT SF
5.1.1.2.1. Description: Grandfix skim coat is a finishing cementitious surfaces compound
specially formulated for concrete surfaces and pre-casts for indoor and
outdoor use. It is supplied as a ready to use blend of dry powders which
requires only the addition of clean water. The product exhibits excellent non-
sag properties that provide great workability on overhead and vertical
applications.
5.1.1.2.2.2. Mixing
Using a plastic container, place 5.0 to 7.5 liters of clean water in the
container and add 25 kg of Grandfix skim coat SF. Mix thoroughly using
a slow speed electric drill fitted with a paddle for 3-5mintues until desired
homogeneous paste is achieved. Depending on the ambient
temperature and the desired consistency, the amount of water required
may vary slightly but should not exceed 7.5 liters per 25kg of Grandfix
skim coat SF.
5.1.1.2.2.3. Application
Apply the mixed Grandfix skim coat SF using a steel trowel up to 3mm
thick. Thin skim coating will dry in about 30-45 minutes depending on
temperature and porosity of substrate. Smoothen the skim coat with soft
paint brush or trowelled smooth.
5.1.1.2.2.4. Overcoating
Grandfix Skim Coat SF may be overcoated with a decorative coating
after about 48 hours depending on the ambient conditions
