Shopping Habits

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

The table below gives information about the money spent by adults and children
on different items in The United Kingdom.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and
make comparisons where relevant.

The table shows the proportion of expenditure by different gender and ages on food, electronic
tools, music, and videos in Britain in the year of 1998.

Overall, it is clear that the disposal income of children group was higher than adolescents group,
which was almost two times need more expenses than adults. In addition, the main cost of food
came in the first place from adults, while music showed the highest levels of spending on the
four products for children.
In terms of adults, both women and men spent the most on food at 39% and 14 % respectively.
Man also purchase about one tenth of their income on their electronic, while women just 1 %.
The sales figure of music for both women and men was the same (5%). However, the
expenditure of videos for men was four times higher than women about 2%.

On the other hand, the lowest expense for children was meal, for only 9% on boys and 11% on
girls. By contrast, music was the most favorable purchase for both girls and boys (40% and 38%
respectively). Male kids in UK bought more electronic equipment (18%) than girls (5%). Also,
the expenditure of videos for boys and girls was almost in the same number around 18%.

The table provided compares spending on four different products by age and gender in Britain in
the year 1998.

Overall, the table indicates that adults generally allocated only about one third of their income
on these items, while children regularly spent a majority of theirs (about 85%) on the same
things. In addition, adults tended to see food as their main expense, while children of both
genders emphasized more on their purchase of music.

While both British men and women dedicated the most of their salaries on food, women spent
significantly more on it than men (39% and 14% respectively). Men also spent about one tenth
of their income on electronics, while women used a mere 1% of theirs on this category.
Expenses on music was low for both men and women, at 5%, but the money that went to videos
was a great deal less, amounting to less than 1% for women.

In contrast, children living in The UK, both boys and girls, spent about 40% of their pocket
money on music that year. For the boys, electronics and videos make up about a third of their
expenses (18% each), while spending on food was lower (about 9%). On the other hand, girls'
purchases of videos was only slightly lower than the boys', but their spending on food was a
little higher by 2%. They didn't find electronics very appealing, and only allocated 5% of their
money for it.
