1. Media strategy.

What media strategies have you employed to publicize the project activities and
disseminate publications and what were the results? How can your media strategy be improved?

All OCCRP stories are published on OCCRP’s website in English and we also publish our investigations in
Russian as well, making them readable by most people in the region. These have been promoted widely
through OCCRP’s social media (in both English and Russian). Our partner centers are also encouraged to
share links on their own social media platforms. Each new investigation is shared with the OCCRP network
with links to social channels and the investigation itself.

Individual staff and members often also share the stories on their private platforms. Our local media
partners have translated and published the Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan stories in their local
languages. Member centers in the region have also posted stories from our website on their own pages
for dissemination.

The success of the current media strategy is evident from the increased views to OCCRP websites and the
increased social media followers. For instance, because of our social media postings after the publication
of our Troika Laundromat project, our Twitter followers grew by almost 4,000 over the course of one
month. In March 2019, OCCRP received over 1 million visitors.

OCCRP has worked hard to bring the Troika Laundromat to audiences around the world. With our recent
investigations, including Troika Laundromat, OCCRP members have appeared in televised and radio
interviews and panels for outlets across the world.

Projects like the Troika Laundromat continue to strengthen cooperation between OCCRP and major
international media outlets such as the Guardian, Süddeutsche Zeitung and BBC, among others.

OCCRP has also been invited by law firms and NGOs asking for cooperation on different projects.

1. Monitoring and evaluation.

● What methods did you use to evaluate the effectiveness of the project administration and the
implemented activities?

As noted in the previous report, OCCRP continuously tracks and monitors the distribution of all stories
published in connection with this project and related projects in order to measure their distribution
internationally and to accumulate proof of impact. We also monitor the interest and reach in our social
media platforms.
