2019 Chinese Government Scholarship (Chinese University Program)

for International Students of Tongji University

Eligibility

1. Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens and in good health.


2. Applicants should not be graduates from Chinese university in 2019.
3. Applicants for master’s programs should be under the age of 35; applicants for
doctoral programs should be under the age of 40.
4. Following applicants would not be accepted:
1. a) Applying for a joint degree program,
2. b) Applying for language and literature programs of one’s native language
or a third language, such as English and French, etc.
5. Applicants should not be holding any other scholarship provided by Chinese
government.

Coverage

Exemption from tuition fee; providing free on-campus accommodation, Comprehensive Medical
Insurance and living stipend (Master student: 3000RMB/month, Doctoral student:
3500RMB/month).

Note: For International Master Degree in Corporate Management, the applicants must contact
Tongji SEM (School of Economics and Management, Tel: 0086-21-65983144 ) for Tuition fee
details.

How to Apply

Step 1: Apply online


1. Complete the online application procedure at the website
http://www.campuschina.org/ and print a hard copy of Application Form
for Chinese Government Scholarship. (Overseas Study Program Type: B;
Agency Number: 10247)
2. Log in the website http://study-info.tongji.edu.cn. Click “Chinese
Government Scholarships” in the module of “Application” and complete the
online application procedure.

Step 2: Application Fee


Pay the application fee by bank transfer and submit the photocopy of transfer
voucher with other documents.
Application Fee: 410 RMB (Non-refundable)

Step 3: Submit application documents
Applicants can either submit the application documents in person or send to
International Student Office of Tongji University by post. Application
documents should be received by 10th Apr. No application will be accepted
after the deadline.

Application Documents Required

MA. Program

1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship in two originals, each attached one
passport photo.

2. Application Form for International Students of Tongji University.

3. A photocopy of passport (personal information page).

4. Photocopies of graduate certificate. If the certificates are not in Chinese or English, the original
notarized translated versions must be submitted.

* The certificates should be notarized by local Chinese Embassy or local Chinese Consulates (or
foreign embassies or consulates in China).

Certificate of expected graduation issued by education in current academic institution (for


applicants who will be graduating in the same year only).

Graduate certificate is required to be verified and notarized documents must be submitted at the
registration.

5. Original or notarized academic transcripts. If the academic transcripts are not in Chinese or
English, the original notarized translated document must be submitted.

* The transcript should be notarized by local Chinese Embassy or local Chinese Consulates (or
foreign embassies or consulates in China).

6. The copy of New HSK Band 4 certificate (Total Score: over 180 for the programs of Science
and Engineering).
The copy of New HSK Band 4 certificate (Total Score: over 200 for the programs of Architecture,
Management & Economics and Medicine).

The copy of New HSK Band 5 certificate (Total Score: over 180 for the program of Liberal Arts
and Fine Arts).

7. Original recommendation letters from two professors or associate professors (contact


information is necessary).

8. Personal statement. Around 1000 words for Master candidates, around 1500 words for doctoral
candidates, in Chinese (Chinese-taught programs) or English (English-taught programs). Study
and work experience, academic research achievement, planned research proposal and personal
prospect after graduation should be included.

9. Catalogue and abstract of published papers, and other documents that can prove academic
ability.

10. Letter of Approval from the professor of Tongji University (If the applicant has already
contacted and assigned a professor)

* In addition to the above application materials, the university may require applicant to provide
supplementary materials, depending on the circumstances. Application documents will not be
returned no matter whether admitted or not.

PhD Program

1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship in two originals, each attached one

2. Application Form for International Students of Tongji University.

Scholarship Outcomes

Outcomes can be checked in the website http://study-info.tongji.edu.cn. Applicants can also visit
the website http://study.tongji.edu.cn/ and click the column of “Notice” for enquiry.

Notes

1. New scholarship students are required to register at Tongji University on the date
specified on admission notice. Students who arrive late without approval in advance will
have their Scholarship automatically cancelled.
2. New scholarship students must participate in annual evaluation. Students who fail to meet
the requirements will have their scholarship cancelled.
3. New scholarship students are not be allowed to change the major or study period.
