Petrel differentiates between Import file (on the File menu and on the toolbar) and Import (on selection), located on the Insert menu and on the right-click menu of folders in the Petrel Explorer panes Using Import (on selection), imported data are inserted directly into the active folder and, therefore, only formats that can be held in the active folder are available. If you use Import file, the data are imported and placed at the bottom of the Input pane, not inside a folder. Procedure — Importing with a Predefined Format 1. Find the data to import, choose the appropriate format, and click Open. 2. Specify the template (such as Elevation Time or Thickness depth).
