NDM is a Norwegian company started up by a group of senior engineers, the key personnel with up to
30 - 35 years of experience.
This expertise covers winch design, manufacture, operation and service. From mooring winches and
windlasses for merchant vessels, tug winches, winches for AHTS vessels and offshore rig winches.
All drive systems are offered, LP(Low Pressure) and HP(High Pressure) hydraulics, as well as electrical.
The hydraulic driven winches can be supplied with complete hydraulic power packs and system valves.
All winches are supplied with facilities for local and/or remote control from deck, bridge or other local
control stations.

In addition to designing and supplying winches, NDM has developed a range of LP Hydraulic Drives for
winches. This range comprises 3 types of 64 bar Low Pressure Motors, 60 l, 30 l, 15 l displacement.
The LP motors of 2 chamber type have full pulling power in both directions, with higher speed range and
dynamic braking power than any other on the market.

NDM’s range of winches will be tailor made to the requirements of the customer.

 Anchor Windlass Winches
Whatever your anchor application, NDM’s line of anchor windlasses offers a
variety of styles and sizes to handle it. Our anchor windlass winches are designed
for up to 160mm chain with a range of drive options available. Standard features
include fabricated steel construction, gears hardened to exceed working load re-
quirements, clutched and braked drum and corrosion resistance. Electric or
hydraulic drives are available along with warping heads. We can modify wind-
lasses to suit your application and special operating requirements.

NDM’s anchor windlass winches have rugged design; heavy duty split bronze
bearings and amply dimensioned brakes. The operating mechanism for brakes
and clutches are designed for easy and safe manual operation, but may also be
remotely operated by hydraulic cylinders. The brakes are easily adjustable, and all
transfer of external forces to the deck construction is by the foundation bolts.
The winch design provides easy access to all points for lubrication and inspections.

Towing Winches
For all types of tugs, also combined with cable lifters, NDM offers a wide range of towing winches.
These can be powered by electric or hydraulic drive and are delivered with or without spooling device.
Towing winches can be delivered with single or double drum in waterfall or with linear design.
The winches can be delivered with joystick bridge control with required functions and automation, in
addition to the local control on the winch. The rugged design made by experienced engineers ensures
trouble free operation under extreme conditions.

NDM’s base models of towing winches can be tailor made to your requirements. NDM’s towing winches
are designed for the extreme conditions onboard tugs.

Our winches can be delivered with single or double drum in waterfall or linear design.

Mooring Winches
NDM offers a wide range of mooring winches with almost unlimited line pulls and speeds,
and covers the complete range of winches for all types and sizes of vessels. NDM’s moor-
ing winches have rugged design and heavy duty split bronze bearings.
The operating mechanism for brakes and clutches are designed for easy and safe manual
operation, but may also be remotely operated by hydraulic cylinders. The brakes are eas-
ily adjustable.
The winch design provides easy access to all points for lubrication and inspections.
Mooring winches can be supplied with a pulling capacity from 5 to 40 tonnes and are
available in single or multi drum configuration, also split drums. Declutchable mooring
drum is standard. The mooring winches from NDM can also be delivered with declutch-
able warping end.
