Concentration
Delaware County Community College is offering an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Emergency
Management and Planning in conjunction with the Collegiate Consortium for Workforce & Economic
Development. The degree program is designed to build upon the existing skills of first responders and those
individuals who have completed college certificate training and /or are certified, as Municipal Police Officers,
Emergency Medical Technicians, Paramedics, Firefighters or Hazardous Material Technicians. Students with
prior training or certification will receive up to 23-27 college credits towards the requirements for the new
Associate of Applied Science degree. Students must complete a total of 60-64 credits to earn an Associate of
Applied Science Degree in Emergency Management and Planning.
The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Emergency Management and Planning can lead to a Bachelor of
Science in Liberal Studies from Neumann College.
Delaware County Community College is also offering, in conjunction with the Collegiate Consortium for
Workforce & Economic Development, an Associate of Applied Science Technical Studies Emergency
Management & Planning Concentration. The concentration was developed as an alternate track and degree for
those students who are primarily government and private sector safety officials desiring a degree in emergency
management. The assessed credits earned for the short courses will be applied as block credit to a maximum of
20 credits. Students must complete all core requirements, 6 courses (16 credits), and the general education and
elective requirements for technical studies, 24 credits. The Associate of Applied Science in Technical Studies
with a concentration in Emergency Management and Planning consists of a total of 60 credits.
Delaware County Community College is granted accreditation by the Middle States Association of Colleges and
Schools.
