Family discussion circle

Don’t you think it strange that decisions in families seem to get made without everyone knowing how? Do
you think it might be better if families talked more and made decisions together? Some families put aside a
bit of time to talk. This allows for everyone to take part.
Why don’t you set up your own family discussion circle? This might be a way that will work for you.
Setting up your own family discussion circle
Some ideas to get you started
Agree some simple rules.
Take it in turns to talk.
Listen to each other.
Don’t put each other down by laughing or being rude.
You might like to use a speaking object to get you started. This might be a favourite stone or shell. You
can only talk when you are holding the speaking object. This helps if you all want to speak at once.
Sit in a circle so that everyone can see each other.
Start a family discussion circle by taking it in turns for each person to say something good that has hap-
pened in the week.
Take it in turns to raise any things that you would like to talk about. These might be:
a problem to solve;
a decision to make;
a plan for something;
some news to give.
Choose something to talk about. Use the speaking object.
Don’t forget to keep to the rules.

The Lifebus Parent Sessions

There will be parent sessions on Monday 29th November and Tuesday 30th November at
9.00-9.30am on the LifeBus and also Monday 29th November at 2.40pm in the Hall.

Reminders for children who are late

Please remember that school starts at 8.55am promptly and parents need to sign their
child in if they are coming into school after registration and sign them out if they are going
out of school before school end. We have had a lot of children coming in late that have a
school dinner and have not been marked in for dinner.

Congratulations
We would like to welcome Mr Bhoday and Mr Alexander to our governing body, as parent
governors. Their daughters are in Year 6 and RB. We would also like to congratulate Mrs
Evans for achieving her Chartered London Teacher status. She had to demonstrate
experience in twelve standards and the assessment takes a minimum of 2 years to gain. She
is the third teacher at Brampton to gain this award.

Miss Bell
It was with very great sadness that we heard last week that Miss Bell had died last month.
She started as a teacher in 1938 and went on to become Deputy Head at Brampton until
she retired in 1973 after 35 years service. She had celebrated her 100th birthday in
August. I’m sure many of our past pupils will have happy memories of her.

And finally.......pedestrian traffic at home time on Brampton Road.

We have been informed by several parents on a number of occasions that there is a large group of
parents/carers that block the pathway near the traffic lights and pedestrian crossing. They are making
it very difficult to let anyone pass, by stopping and meeting in this inconvenient place. Other parents
and children have to step past them, walking into the road at times. It is extremely dangerous and
unnecessary. The road is busy enough with the parked cars, doors opening and children running
around, without parents blocking the pathway. Please supervise your children at all times and show
greater consideration to other pedestrians. Your support is much appreciated at this busy time.
