Lake Monticello’s Broadcast Group Has a TV Job for YOU!

The Broadcast Group will meet on Tues., Jan. 11, at 7:30PM in the Faulconer Room. If
you are interested in volunteering for one or more television production jobs, such as a
director, switcher, camera or audio operator, producer/host or general electronic support,
come visit with the Group on Tuesday as it goes through its upcoming schedule of programming and works on other
aspects of LMOA’s broadcast operation. If you’re interested but can’t attend the meeting, contact Co-chairs Ron Krauss at
(434) 589-5209 or rakrauss@embarqmail.com, or Jerry Steffel at (434) 589-6418 or jhsteffel@yahoo.com.

Board Sets Special Meeting of Members

At its December 22 regular meeting, the Board of Directors voted to hold a special meeting of LMOA members to vote on whether
to use $700,000 from the principal of the Emergency Reserve Account (ERA) from the sale of the LM Service Co. to make major, state-
mandated repairs to community dams. Another option is to pay for the repairs from other sources such as the property transfer fee, the
amenity fund and interest and dividends from the ERA. The Board will seek input from both the Finance and Investment Committees
before it approves the wording of the proposal and statement in support at a special open session on January 20.
The special meeting of members will be held on Sat., April 2. A Notice of Special Member Meeting will be mailed to property
owners on or about March 2. The Notice will include the proposal plus the statement in support, which will describe the pros and cons
of withdrawing from the ERA principal or using other funds. A proxy, proxy authorization form and return envelope will be included for
voting in advance of the meeting. Members who prefer to vote by ballot may do so on the day of the meeting.
The special meeting of members does not have any impact on the annual meeting of members. The date of the annual meeting
will be confirmed by the Board at its January 27 regular meeting.

Barcode Fee Changes for 2011: Lake residents who need to replace a barcode on their existing vehicle will be happy to
know that, as part of the 2011 budget, the Board reduced the charge from $40 to $10, effective January 1, 2011. The charge for
barcodes on new or additional vehicles remains at $40.
The Board also voted to charge utilities, such as power companies, telecommunications providers, water/sewer, etc., the normal
annual commercial barcode fee of $100 per vehicle. Previously, LMOA provided complimentary barcodes for such businesses.

Amenity Fee Reductions for 2011: During its adoption of the 2011 budget, the Board made changes to some amenity fees.
The changes include reductions of fees and changes in categories.
Pool: A family of four or more can still buy a season contract for $285, but there have been changes to individual seasonal categories
that make them an attractive option. Rather than purchasing a family package, a husband, wife and one child can take the individual
options at $75 for a total of $225.
Boating: Owners of boats with 250 or more horsepower can now register their boats for $258, the same as boats of 200-249
horsepower, down from $470 in 2010. There also are reductions in some boat slip fees. The Board has asked for a study of the boat
registration, slip and storage fee structure, with a report to the Board prior to the beginning of 2012 budget development process.
Golf: There were no changes to golf fees for 2011, but the Board asked for an in-depth study of the golf fee structure for consideration
when planning the 2012 budget.

Let’s Get Serious: It’s time for LMOA members to give serious consideration to serving the community as a member of the Board
of Directors. Terms will expire in June for three directors -- Scott Meiss, Mike Harrison and Ray Gott. All three have served the
community and association with honor and dedication to making Lake Monticello the very best community it can be. With their
departure, at least four candidates are needed to provide choices for the member vote.
The Board of Directors is the governing body of the LMOA and for the community. Directors make the big and small decisions that
determine the standard of care for the community and the quality of life for its 14,000 residents.
Candidates must go through the LMOA petition process, which will begin shortly after the Board confirms the date of the 39th Annual
Meeting of LMOA Members during its Jan. 27 meeting. Early the following week, petition packets will be available for potential
candidates. For more information about the petition process, contact Communications Manager Peggy Alexander at (434) 589-8263,
ext. 111, or email palexander@lmoa.org.
