FAITH:
This is a study dealing with Faith. Faith is a
part of the Fruit of the Spirit. In Galatians 5, we
are commanded to Walk in the Spirit. We find
the Fruit of the Spirit listed in Galatians 5:22.

Look at Galatians 5:25 and the word WALK.

That word literally means to go on walking,
making progress toward spiritual maturity, by
the Holy Spirit's dwelling presence and power. It
also means to walk in a line, to keep rank and
file, and to march in battle order. So every one
of us must keep in step with the Holy Spirit.

FAITH
Faith is a personal measurement of the level of
confidence in what Christ has done and will do
in, through, and for us.
DOUBT
Doubt is an attitude of unbelief, characterized
by rebellion and disobedience toward God.

The word Faith is found 245 times in the

BIBLE. Let us look at Habakkuk 2:4. Behold,
his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him:
but the just shall live by his faith. The word
Faith in the Hebrew is Firmness, Security and
Stability. In the New Testament, there are 4
verses were the word faith deals with a LACK
2
OF CONFIDENCE. In each one of these verses,
Jesus says, “OH YE OF LITTLE FAITH.” Three
verses in Matthew and one in Luke. These go
along with Deuteronomy 32:20. “And he said, I
will hide my face from them, I will see what their
end shall be: for they are a very froward
generation, children in whom is no faith.” The
problem, the Truth was not in them.

There are many verses in the New Testament

dealing with Faith. The Greek word is Pistis. All
of these words mean {Wholehearted confidence,
Assurance, Trust, and complete reliance in God
and all that HE says.} Ephesians 2:8; “For by
grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift of God:”
John 3:15 “That whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have eternal life.”
The word believeth means to have complete
faith in, to entrust one's spiritual well being to
Jesus Christ.

The following is from C. H. Spurgeon Morning

and Evening devotionals.
"If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the
Spirit."- Galatians 5:25
The two most important things in our holy
religion are the life of faith and the walk of faith.
He who shall rightly understand these is not far
3
from being a master in experimental theology,
for they are vital points to a Christian. You will
never find true faith unattended by true
godliness; on the other hand, you will never
discover a truly holy life which has not for its
root a living faith upon the righteousness of
Christ. Woe unto those who seek after the one
without the other! There are some who cultivate
faith and forget holiness; these may be very high
in orthodoxy, but they shall be very deep in
condemnation, for they hold the truth in
unrighteousness; and there are others who have
strained after holiness of life, but have denied the
faith, like the Pharisees of old, of whom the
Master said, they were "whitewashed
sepulchres." We must have faith, for this is the
foundation. We must have holiness of life, for
this is the superstructure. Of what service is the
mere foundation of a building to a man in the
day of tempest? Can he hide himself therein? He
wants a house to cover him, as well as a
foundation for that house. Even so we need the
superstructure of spiritual life if we would have
comfort in the day of doubt. But seek not a holy
life without faith, for that would be to erect a
house which can afford no permanent shelter,
because it has no foundation on a rock. Let faith
and life be put together, and, like the two
abutments of an arch, they will make our piety
enduring. Like light and heat streaming from the
4
same sun, they are alike full of blessing. Like the
two pillars of the temple, they are for glory and
for beauty. They are two streams from the
fountain of grace; two lamps lit with holy fire;
two olive trees watered by heavenly care. O
Lord, give us this day life within, and it will
reveal itself without to Thy glory. (C.H.
Spurgeon)
Now, I will be going over ten Aspects
concerning Faith. There are several vs. that we
will be looking at.
FIRST: Aspect of Faith is to be: Persuaded of.
Romans 4:17-22 “(As it is written, I have made
thee a father of many nations,) before him whom
he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead,
and calleth those things which be not as though
they were. 18 Who against hope believed in
hope, that he might become the father of many
nations, according to that which was spoken, So
shall thy seed be. 19 And being not weak in
faith, he considered not his own body now dead,
when he was about an hundred years old, neither
yet the deadness of Sarah's womb: 20 He
staggered not at the promise of God through
unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to
God; 21 And being fully persuaded that, what
he had promised, he was able also to perform.
22 And therefore it was imputed to him for
righteousness.”
5
We know that these verses are dealing with
Abraham. I have always loved reading the life of
Sarah and Abraham. They are listed in the Hall
of FAITH of Hebrews 11.

In Genesis 15:6 it says of Abraham, “He

believed God, and it was counted unto him for
righteousness.” In verses. 21 of Romans 4, The
word PERSUADED is used. That means,
{influenced or drawn to an opinion. It is also a
determination by advice or a reason that is
suggested.} Abraham stepped out by Faith and
went where God showed him to go. There was a
promise given to him and it was not given to him
as a reward for what he had done. This was
done on the grounds of SOVEREIGN GRACE.
His righteousness was like ours if we believe.
This was a “BY FAITH RIGHTEOUSNESS.”

Look at Romans 8:38,39 “For I am persuaded,

that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor
things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor
any other creature, shall be able to separate us
from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our
Lord.” Before any one of us were saved, we had
to be persuaded, or convinced that we were
sinners in need of a Saviour. The Holy Spirit is
that one that did the persuading. He convinced
me that I was lost and on my way to hell and
6
then convinced me that I must repent of my sin
and believe on Jesus Christ as my Saviour. This
was done by complete FAITH.
Lets all go to 2 Timothy 1:12 --> 12 “For the
which cause I also suffer these things:
nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom
I have believed, [that means to have FAITH in, to
entrust my spiritual well being to Jesus Christ.]
and am persuaded [I am convinced with no
doubt] that he is able [He is powerful and
capable] to keep that which I have committed unto
him against that day.” God delights to do
impossibilities!!!! What he promises, He does!!!!
The SECOND aspect concerning FAITH is
that it means to
PLACE CONFIDENCE IN.

Lets all turn to Ephesians. 3:12. “ In whom we

have boldness [full Assurance] and access with
confidence [trust and reliance] by the faith
[truthfulness] of him.” It is in Jesus Christ that
we now have immediate access, with the fullest
confidence, into the presence of GOD. We are
now truly one with JESUS CHRIST. I can now
approach the throne of God without fear or
dread knowing that I can ask in Jesus name and
my Father delights to answer.
Lets go to Philippians 1:6. “Being confident of
7
this very thing, that he which hath begun a good
work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus
Christ:” Paul had absolutely no doubt about the
final outcome for all who believe. He was
absolutely Confident that the one that has begun
the work in him, as well as in us, would never
stop until He had perfected what He had started.
Every one of us will one day be perfect but not
until the day of Jesus Christ. Do you know that
the Lord always looks at HIS children as they
will be when they are home with HIM. Why is it
that we look only at the short comings of others.

A number of years ago, there was an artist that

conceived in his mind a great picture. He knew
that this would be the one great Masterpiece of
his life. He began working on a large canvas,
putting in the dull colors and all the grays that
would make up the background. One of his
friends had come into the studio unnoticed. This
artist was so into the painting that suddenly he
heard a noise and turned to see his friend. He
was so into the painting and had it so in his
mind. He said to the friend, “What do you think
of my new painting? I believe it will be the
greatest work that I have ever done.” The friend
began to laugh and said, “Well, I don't think
much of it, it seems to dull and dark.” Suddenly
the artist realized that his friend could not see
what he could see and said, “You can not see
8
what is going to be there, but I can!”

God sees in every believer what will be fully

brought out at the judgment seat of Christ and
he is working now toward that end. We see the
Present imperfections. Too often, we forget the
future glory. I am confident that in the day of
Jesus Christ, every believer will be conformed to
his IMAGE. Job 23:10. “But he knoweth the
way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall
come forth as gold.” Hebrews 3:6 and then 12-
14. 6 But Christ as a son over his own house;
whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence
and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
12. Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you
an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the
living God. 13. But exhort one another daily,
while it is called To day; lest any of you be
hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14.
For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold
the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the
end;

Paul has introduced Jesus Christ to the Jews as

the HIGH PRIEST that all must now go to.
Jesus has superseded both Moses and Aaron.
Moses had been considered the Apostle of the
separated people that were partakers of an
earthly calling. Aaron was their High Priest.
Paul is telling them that Jesus Christ is both that
9
Apostle and High Priest now for all saved people.

Jesus is superior to Moses because although he

was faithful and was a servant in the house of
God, just as we are servants Moses was a
servant.. Jesus is the builder of this house, and
everyone of us are a part of that house. That
building is made up of LIVING STONES.

Verses 12-14 shows us the fact that 'FAITH IS

MANIFESTED BY A GODLY WALK' It is
important for all of us to Walk in the Spirit.
Where there is a lack of FAITH, the outward life
may, for a time, seem to be consistent with the
Christian profession, BUT EVENTUALLY the
old carnal nature is going to raise up and the
person will turn back to the world.

In verse 6 and also verse 14 you have the little

word 'IF' That is a test of profession. It does not
say that we can loose our
Salvation. What this is about is the fact that
there are people that can talk the talk. They
have all the right answers but they have never
been born again. I have personally come across
a few over the years. Time told the true story of
them. Hebrews 10:35,36. “Cast not away
therefore your confidence, {ASSURANCE} which
hath great recompence of reward. 36 For ye have
need of patience, {Cheerful Endurance} that, after
10
ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the
promise.” Look at 1 John 3:21,22 and 1 John
5:14,15. 21 “Beloved, if our heart condemn us
not, then have we confidence toward God. 22
And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him,
because we keep his commandments, and do those
things that are pleasing in his sight.” 14 “And
this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if
we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth
us: 15 And if we know that he hear us,
whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the
petitions that we desired of him.”
These are all dealing with our CONFIDENCE,
our FAITH in our Father. We have looked at a
Persuaded Faith and then at a Confident Faith
now lets look at the next aspect.

THIRD: aspect concerning Faith.

Turn to Hebrews 11:1 with me. This gives a
great definition of Faith. “Now faith is the
substance {Or Conviction} of things hoped for,
the evidence {Assurance} of things not seen.”

If you look back at Hebrews 10:38, you will see

these words. “The just shall live by faith....”
These same words are found in Habakkuk 2:4;
Romans. 1:17; Galatians. 3:11.

Again in verse 1, we see the Words FAITH and

11
HOPE. These go together. The same things that
we hope for are also the objects of our faith.
Faith is a firm belief and expectation that our
Father will perform all that HE has promised to
do. This is a strong belief that gives our souls a
kind of possession and
present realization of the things to come.

Knowing that the Holy Spirit lives in us is

accepted by Faith. As it says in verse 1, it is the
evidence of things not seen. Faith literally
demonstrates to the minds eye the reality of those
things that cannot be seen by the eye of this
human body. I have not seen Jesus Christ nor
have I ever seen the air that I breath, but I
believe by FAITH that they are there. Faith is
the Firm Acceptance in every part of the
Revelation of Jesus Christ to us. Faith also says,
“God Is Real” Faith is designed to serve the
believer instead of sight, and to be to the soul all
that the senses are to the body.

In Verse 6 it says, “But without faith it is

impossible to please him: for he that cometh to
God must believe (have Faith) that he is, and that
he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
It takes an active Faith for us to Walk in the
Spirit. We must believe that He is, and that he is
also a rewarder of those that diligently seek him.
We must also believe by faith that He has
12
revealed Himself to us through His living word,
the Bible. Also by Faith, believe that He is
infinite perfection existing in three persons. The
Father, Son and Holy Ghost. An active FAITH
should also be a POWERFUL BRIDLE of
RESTRAINT to keep us from Sin. It is also like
a SPUR of CONSTRAINT to keep us obedient to
the WORD OF GOD. Because of the fall of
mankind, we lost all fellowship and divine light,
life, love, likeness and communion with GOD.
Now, by Faith we can come to God through Jesus
Christ and believe that all the things we lost are
returned because of Faith. This Faith is also
there when we are at a place in our lives where
we just can't seem to find God. We all must
continue to seek for him
diligently, early, earnestly and unfalteringly.

Romans 8:24  “For we are saved (delivered)

by hope:(Faith) but hope that is seen is not hope:
for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?”
Our happiness is not in our present
possession: Our reward is still out of sight.
When we talk to our Father, we must talk to Him
and ask of Him through complete trust that He
will hear and do for us.

Faith respects the Promise, Hope respects the

things Promised. Faith is the Evidence the Hope
and the Expectation of things not seen. Faith
13
and Hope can not be separated. They go
together like a Mother and a new born child,
INSEPARABLE.
FOURTH aspect of Faith is the
Absolute Dependence upon and reliance in the
Word of God and of Jesus Christ.
If we were to look at Matthew 8, we would read
about the Centurion that came to Jesus to ask
him to heal his servant that was sick of the palsy.
Jesus was ready to go with him but the
Centurion said, “I am not worthy of your coming
to my home. If you would just speak the word
only my servant will be healed.” Jesus heard
these words and said, “....I have not found so
great faith, NO NOT IN ISRAEL.” That
Centurion had ABSOLUTE DEPENDENCE on
the WORDS OF JESUS and knew that it would
take place.
Also in Matthew 15 is the story of the Gentile
mother that came to Jesus asking him to deliver
her daughter from the wicked demon that lived
in her. That mother cried out but Jesus turned
away from her and ignored her. The disciples
asked him to send her away. This woman had
come Worshiping Jesus and begging him to help.
Jesus spoke and said, “...I came for the lost sheep
of Israel and not to give bread to the dogs.” She
then said, “but even the dogs eat the crumbs
14
from under the table.” She had much faith in
the Word of Jesus and knew that He could
deliver her daughter. Jesus turned to the
daughter and spoke and she was delivered.

We hold His Word in our hands and we see it

and read it but how many of us have an:
ABSOLUTE DEPENDENCE AND RELIANCE
IN HIS WORD?
Turn to Romans 10:17. “So then faith cometh
by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
There are many that hear the WORD but they
don't believe it. “Oh come on, that isn't for
today. He can't do that for me.” It took an
Absolute and total dependence on the Word of
God when I was saved. I had heard the Word of
God when I was a small child but did not
understand it. I sat under good preaching from
the first of Sept until November. 3, 1964 without
understanding. It wasn't until that night, when I
repented of my sin, accepting Jesus as my
Saviour that I understood and believed His Word
by FAITH. I have learned more and more each
year that I can believe this WORD and by Faith
have seen Him move in a mighty way for us.
We could go to Hebrews 11 and read the Faith
chapter and see how every one of them had
ABSOLUTE DEPENDENCE ON THE WORD
15
OF GOD, and how they RELIED ON IT. Lets
look at Hebrews 12 verses 1-3. “Wherefore
seeing we also are compassed about with so great
a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight,
and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let
us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of
our faith; who for the joy that was set before him
endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set
down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3.
For consider him that endured such contradiction
of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and
faint in your minds.”

These verses are dealing with us having

Absolute Dependence upon and Reliance in the
Word of God and on Jesus Christ. We see that
we have a duty which consists of two parts. The
first part is PREPARATORY or Preparing the
way for us. The second part is PERFECTIVE.
It is Preparatory in the words in verse 1 that say
“...Lay aside every weight, and the sin...” Every
weight is, all excessive affection and concern for
the flesh, and for this present life and any
fondness for it. This ole flesh that I live in is
DEAD WEIGHT that weighs upon the soul. This
flesh pulls us down when it should lift us up.
This flesh pulls us back when it should press
forward. This flesh makes the duty and all
difficulties much harder and much heavier
16
than they would be if we would lay aside every
weight and put it all upon Jesus Christ who told
us in Matthew 11:29,30, “Take my yoke upon you,
and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in
heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Verse 1 also says, “And the Sin that Doth So

Easily Beset us.” This is all sin that has any
advantage over us, by any of the circumstances
that we find ourselves in. What it is dealing with
is our very temperament of mind, our affections
and passions. This is also dealing with the people
that we run with. This is the people that we like
to be around when we are not around saved
people. This deals with our everyday walk. We
must all lay aside every external as well as
internal hindrance. This is all preparatory.
Now for the PERFECTIVE part of our
Absolute Dependence upon and Reliance in the
Word of God and Jesus Christ. Verse 1 again.
“Let us run with patience the race that is set
before us.” Paul is using an athletic language
here. I participated in football, basketball and
track in high school. If you played on the team
you had to work hard at doing what had to be
done. We as saved people have a race to run.
This is a race of service, and sufferings. This is
an active as well as a passive obedience on our
17
part. This race is clearly marked out for us.
Just as in track, you had a track to run in and a
point to run to. There were limits and there was
a direction to run and there was a prize to be
won. The Word of God gives us that clearly
marked track. We also have the example of
those that have lived before us that we are to
follow. The track that I run in is not for you to
run in. Stay in your track and on track at all
times.

This race must be run with much patience and

much perseverance. There is a great need for
Patience to go through all the difficulties that lie
in our way. There is also a need for perseverance
to resist all the temptations to stop and turn
aside from the race. It takes FAITH AND
GRACE and they are the conquering Graces
that we must continue to cultivate and keep them
continually in lively exercise. Just as in all of the
sports I was in, we had many exercises to do to
stay in shape for the game or race. It is no
different with us now as saved people. Exercise
that Faith. We have the greatest example; of
living by complete Faith in God's word; given to
us through Jesus Christ. He is the object of our
Faith, as well as the Author, (our) leader, finisher,
fulfiller (of all promises and prophecies),
perfecter (of the Word), finisher (of Grace), the
judge and rewarder of our Faith.
18
Look at those words in verse 2 were He says,
“who for the joy that was set before him endured
the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at
the right hand of the throne of God.” He suffered
for us so that we could be reconciled back to
GOD. His reward for suffering for us, was that,
He sat down at the right hand of the Throne of
God. He is our Mediator and cries out,
FORGIVEN, FORGIVEN.

Every individual sitting in here that is saved

must have Absolute Dependence upon and in
Jesus Christ. Our duty to HIM is FIRST: to look
unto Him, and to set him continually before us as
our example, and our Great encouragement.
SECOND: we all must look to HIM for direction;
for assistance as well as for acceptance, in all of
our sufferings. Every trial that we go through.

How many of us in here have been in a great

trial and have said, “I don't believe that anyone
has ever gone through what I am being put
through right now. This trial is worse than
anyone has ever had to face. You just don't
understand what is happening!” Look at verse 3
in Hebrews 12. “For consider him that endured
such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest
ye be wearied and faint in your minds.” Why is it
that we all have a tendency to grow weary and
faint under these trials and any affliction,
19
especially when they prove to be heavy and long.
This tendency comes from the imperfection that
remain from our corrupt ole flesh.

The only way to prevent becoming faint and

giving up is to look unto Jesus, and consider all
that he went through for us. Faith and
Meditation will continually bring fresh supplies
of Strength, Comfort and Courage. Look at verse
11 with me. “Now no chastening for the present
seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless
afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of
righteousness unto them which are exercised
thereby.”
2 Timothy 2:12 says, “If we suffer, we shall also
reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny
us:”

Faith. First: it is to be persuaded of, Second: it

means to place confidence in. Third: it is the
substance or conviction of things hoped for, the
evidence and assurance of things not seen.
Fourth: all of us must have Absolute Dependence
upon and Reliance in the Word of God and on
Jesus Christ.

Fifth: Aspect of Faith

Faith means we must have full surrender, total
yielding, and absolute obedience to all known
truth.
20
Again, the fruit of the Spirit is “Love, Joy,
Peace, Longsuffering, Gentleness, Goodness,
Faith....” Romans 1:5 “By whom we have
received grace and apostleship, for obedience to
the faith among all nations, for his name:”

Paul greets the Romans in the first 7 verses and

He is calling himself a Servant, or literally, a
Bondsman of Jesus Christ. Now this is not a
service of Bondage but of a WHOLEHEARTED
OBEDIENCE from Paul who knew that he had
been 'Bought With A Great Price, the Precious
Blood of Jesus Christ.'
A few years ago, I read the story of a slave
whose master was about to kill him with a spear.
A young man stepped forward and put his arm
out to block the spear and it pierced his arm. As
blood spurted out, he told that wicked master, “I
have bought this man by my suffering” The
owner agreed and turned and walked away.
That slave fell at the feet of that young man that
had delivered him from death and cried out.
“The Blood Bought is Now the Slave of the Son
of Pity. I will serve you faithfully.” The young
man told him he was free. That slave insisted
and accompanying his Deliverer, he took
great delight in waiting upon him in every
possible way he could for the rest of his life.

21
Every person sitting here that is saved is that
Blood bought slave. We have been set free to
Serve. We now belong to Jesus Christ. Psalms
116:6, “O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy
servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast
loosed my bonds.” It is important for every one
of us to be obedient in every area of our life.
Lets all turn to Romans 6:11-23 “Likewise
reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto
sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our
Lord. 12 Let not sin therefore reign in your
mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts
thereof. 13 Neither yield ye your members as
instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield
yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from
the dead, and your members as instruments of
righteousness unto God. 14 For sin shall not
have dominion over you: for ye are not under the
law, but under grace. 15 What then? shall we sin,
because we are not under the law, but under
grace? God forbid. 16 Know ye not, that to whom
ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye
are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or
of obedience unto righteousness? 17 But God be
thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye
have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine
which was delivered you. 18 Being then made free
from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
19 I speak after the manner of men because of the
22
infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your
members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity
unto iniquity; even so now yield your members
servants to righteousness unto holiness. 20 For
when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free
from righteousness. 21 What fruit had ye then in
those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the
end of those things is death. 22 But now being
made free from sin, and become
servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness,
and the end everlasting life. 23 For the wages of
sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Every one of us that are saved are now free to
walk in newness of life as one with Jesus Christ,
Risen. There in Verse 11 is the word RECKON.
That word means Literally, Count as True. The
word of God says that I died with Christ. I, as
an individual, am to count this as absolute truth.
As Faith reckons on this, I find that the claims of
sin are abolished. There is no other way of
deliverance than that which begins with
reckoning. “..Reckon ye also yourselves to be
dead....I am Crucified with Christ...” How many
of you in here feel dead? I am very much still
alive. Feelings have nothing to do with this at all.
This is a judicial fact. Christ's death is my death
and therefore I reckon myself to have died unto
sin's dominion. Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified
23
with Christ nevertheless I live: yest not I, but
Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live
in the flesh I live by the Faith of the son of God,
who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

Verse 12 in Romans 6 adds to that, Reckoning,

telling us not to let sin reign in this flesh because
it wants to obey the lust that comes along. When
I feel an impulse rising up in me demanding for
me to yield to any sinful desire, I need to
remember what Galatians 5:17 says, “For the
flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit
against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to
the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye
would.” If I am truly alert to the things that this
flesh desires, I can say to the things that tempt
me, 'NO, I HAVE DIED TO ALL SIN. IT MUST
NOT DOMINATE MY WILL. I BELONG TO
JESUS CHRIST AND I AM TO LIVE UNTO
HIM.' When faith lays hold of this truth, the
power of lust is broken.

This involves watchfulness and constant

recognition of my union with Christ. Before I
was saved, this flesh controlled me. Now that I
am saved, I must unconditionally yield myself to
GOD as being one alive from the death that I
went into with Christ. All of my physical
members are HIS and are to be used as
instruments to work out HIS Righteousness.
24
In Verse 13, look at the word Instruments. That
word means Weapons or Armor. Every talent
that I have been given, All of my physical
members, all the power that lives within me are
to be used in the conflict with the world as
weapons for GOD. I am His soldier to be
absolutely at His disposal.
Now that I am saved, SIN is no longer to hold
any control over my life. Jesus is the
Commander in Chief of my Salvation whose
words are to control me in all things. Now this
flesh that we live in might reason that since I am
now under Grace and not Law, that I can do
anything that I want and live any way that I
want. As a born again, Saved by the Blood of the
LAMB, individual, I Do Not want Liberty to Sin,
BUT What I want is Power for Holiness in my
life. The problem with so many of us is that we
continually end up yielding to sin and obey its
bidding; even voluntarily in many areas of our
lives. When I do that, I am still a servant to Sin
and the end result will be death. My greatest
desire should be to obey the one that I belong to,
and the one that I am to serve. Jesus Christ.
Look at verses 17,18 of Romans 6 “But God be
thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye
have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine
which was delivered you. 18. Being then made
free from sin, ye became the servants of
25
righteousness.” Paul is illustrating his theme by
giving LIFE to SIN AND RIGHTEOUSNESS.
He is doing this so that our weak human minds
can understand it. In verse 19, he repeats His
exhortation and then gives it as a command to
us. 19 “I speak after the manner of men because
of the infirmity of your flesh: (OLD NATURE)
for as ye have yielded your members servants
(SLAVES) to uncleanness and to iniquity unto
iniquity; (WICKEDNESS) even so now yield your
members (BODY) servants (SLAVES) to
righteousness unto holiness.” (PURITY)
Before I was saved, I was a slave to Sin and
knew nothing about true Righteousness. Now
that I am saved from sins dominion I have
become a servant to GOD and my life should be
abounding in FRUIT which is unto HOLINESS.
Look at verse 22. “But now being made free from
sin, and become servants to God, ye have your
fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.” I
have everlasting life and in this verse, it is
showing us our future and the fact that we must
live a sold out life for our LORD now. It is so
important for everyone of us to be fully
surrendered and be in total obedience to the
WORD OF GOD. We could go to the Book of
James here and read in chapter 2 verses 17,18
about the importance of all of us being
surrendered and being obedient. We could also
26
go to 2 Corinthians 10 and read verses 3-6
dealing with us walking in the flesh. Our
weapons of warfare which are not carnal and the
fact that we are to cast down all imaginations
and all High Thing that we exalt above God. As
well as the fact that we are to deal with all
disobedience in our lives immediately.
We must bring every thought that we have into
total subjection to the OBEDIENCE OF
CHRIST. All of our human reasoning must come
to an end. When the HOLY SPIRIT speaks to
us, there must be absolute subjection to HIS will.
Once again, this aspect of Faith is Action and it
means that we must fully surrender, and be in
total obedience to all known truth. This Bible,
the meditation of it, the teaching, preaching,
praying fervently are all weapons of our warfare
and they are all spiritual weapons, not carnal or
of any outward force.
I would ask that you turn to Hebrews 11:6 as
we leave this aspect of FAITH. “But without
faith it is impossible to please
him: for he that cometh to God must believe that
he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that
diligently seek (Crave and Worship) him.” Are
you seeing the importance of this 5th aspect of
Faith.

The SIXTH aspect of FAITH is to

27
“TRUST WHOLLY AND UNRESERVEDLY IN
THE FAITHFULNESS OF GOD.”
The word Trust means to have complete
confidence and reliance on, and it is the resting
of the mind on the integrity and the sound
principle of another person. The word Wholly
means entirely or totally trust in. The word
Unreservedly means without limitations or
reservation.
PROV. 28:25 “He that is of a proud heart
stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust (total
confidence) in the LORD shall be made fat.”
Then Proverbs 3:5,6. “Trust in the LORD with all
thine heart; and lean not unto thine own
understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge
him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Every saved
person sitting here has talents given to them by
God. All of these are given to us by way of trust,
that we will use them for the Glory of God.

I would like us to go to Matthew 6 and look at

verses 25-34. 25 Therefore I say unto you, Take
no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what
ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall
put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the
body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the
air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor
gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father
feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
28
27 Which of you by taking thought can add one
cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye
thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the
field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they
spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even
Solomon in all his
glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30
Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field,
which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the
oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of
little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought,
saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we
drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32
(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:)
for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have
need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the
kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all
these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take
therefore no thought for the morrow: for the
morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.
Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” Jesus
is telling his Disciples to TAKE NO THOUGHT.
He was not telling them to be careless or neglect
their duty when foresight would show them what
they should do. The thing that Jesus is telling
them is Don't be Anxious and Don't become
Distressed or Perplexed about the future. What
he is literally say to every one of us is, The same
one that saved you WILL take care of you and
you can depend on HIM to Undertake and
29
Provide for you right to the very end of life.
Jesus reminds us that the birds are fed by our
Heavenly Father. The Flowers come forth in
their beauty because of God. There is not one
person sitting here that can increase your height
by sitting and worrying about it. By measuring
my arms from this finger tip to this one, having
them stretched out, I should be over 6 feet tall
but I am not. I am who I am and so why worry
about it.

Why should any of us give place to worry over

how we will meet all the future want? We have a
Heavenly Father that clothes the Grass of the
field and He has promised to take care of His
Children. By Faith, Nancy and I are trusting for
work for her each day. It is there when our
Father wants her to work. We could sit back and
worry, worry, worry and get warts but why. This
world is constantly in pursuit of Temporal things
to make them happy. The number one thing
right now is MONEY & Black Gold, OIL. I
don't care what this world is after, We are not to
IMITATE THEM. We are to be concerned with
Pleasing our Father. Having our behavior in line
with the Righteous Principles of His Kingdom.
Jesus summed this all up in verse 33 by telling us
to “seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his
righteousness” When we obey Him and we live
for Him doing the things that we are obligated to
30
do, then we have the assurance that all needed
temporal things will be provided. Paul closes
out this chapter with the exhortation to leave
tomorrow with God. Seek only to please Him
today. When tomorrow comes, He will provide
all the needed grace for every situation that we
come up against. Today is here to bring Glory to
HIM.

Now, in dealing with this aspect of Faith, I feel

that we should talk about the daily temptations
that we face. Can our Father take us through
these situations? 1 Corinthians 10:13 is a verse
that many people know. “There hath no
temptation taken you but such as is common to
man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you
to be tempted above that ye are able; but will
with the temptation also make a way to escape,
that ye may be able to bear it.”

The word TO is very important here. He will

“make a way TO ESCAPE.” I think of Israel and
when the death Angel passed over them. They
had to obey the Word of God. There was a way
TO ESCAPE the death Angle. When they left
Egypt and came to the edge of the Red Sea, there
was a way to escape but Moses had to obey and
do what he was told to do so that they could cross
the Red Sea. It took Faith on his part to obey
God. That Red sea was then opened for them.
31
God could have just opened up that sea without
Moses doing one thing and it would have been an
easy way of escape. He had direction for them
and lead them to the Promised land. There was a
way to escape the wilderness, as well, when they
got there. When Joshua was told to lead them
across the Jordan River, those Priests had to step
into the water. He wants us to turn to Him and
trust Him to show us the right way. The little
word TO means moving toward a place, or
toward an object. You must make the move.
Your choice.

We are talking about the fact that we MUST

Trust Wholly and Unreservedly in the
Faithfulness of God. He is there for us all the
time. We must have strict adherence to HIM and
to the duties that He has given to us. How many
of us have this type of FAITH? In Matthew 17,
the disciples were asked to cast out a devil from a
little child. They couldn't do it. Jesus then tells
them it is because of your UNBELIEF. Your
Lack of FAITH. In verse 20 He goes on to say:
“....for verily I say unto you, If ye
have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say
unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder
place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be
impossible unto you.”
Let me share a couple of true stories with you.
32
The first one is dealing with a little church in a
rule area. The summer had been hot and no rain
had fallen for some time. The pastor suggested
that they all meet at church to pray for rain. An
elderly lady came in carrying her umbrella.
Several looked at her and said, “why did you
bring that with you”. She said: “We came to
pray for rain didn't we? I feel certain that He
will answer and that I will need it on the way
home.” Before they had finished praying, rain
did come and she was the only one that had faith
to bring an umbrella.

I could give you examples of men like Hudson

Taylor and George Mueller and many others but
for the sake of time, I will tell you about a time in
Wyoming when we were to have a church picnic.
It started raining early that morning and was
suppose to rain all day. Most of the people called
me and asked me if we were going to call off the
picnic. I said, “NO, we are to go and enjoy the
afternoon”. We got into our van and headed for
the park. By the time we got there, a large circle
had opened up at the park with no rain. It was
raining every were else. We gilled, ate and
played games together. When we were tired, we
all packed up and by the time we were back in
our vehicles, the rain returned over that park.
CAN YOU SEE THE IMPORTANCE OF
Trusting entirely and Unreservedly in the
33
Faithfulness of God.
Aspect SEVEN of Faith is the fact that 'WE
MUST GIVE OURSELVES OVER TO A NEW
WAY OF LIFE.'

When I was saved, I became a new creature in

Christ. The old things had passed away. The
problem is that this old flesh is still alive and it
fights with the New Nature. We must totally
surrender ourselves over to Jesus and let HIM
have HIS complete will in, and through us in all
areas. Don't say, “well, you can have this area
and this one but I am going to keep this one for
myself”. It won't work! We are to live a SOLD
OUT LIFE and it must be completely by FAITH.
Once again, Romans 6 deals with this. Look
with me at verses 11-13. 11 “Likewise reckon ye
also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but
alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body,
that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. 13
Neither yield ye your members as instruments of
unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves
unto God, as those that are alive from the dead,
and your members as instruments of righteousness
unto God.”
In these verses, we have the STRONGEST
words to motivate us; First against living in Sin
34
and Second living a sold out life for GOD. Once
again, the problem for all of us is the Flesh is still
alive. When this ole flesh raises its wicked ugly
head, tell it that I am Crucified with Christ and I
am dead to self. It is the Power of the Word of
God that will put down this wicked flesh every
time. We as individuals might struggle with SIN,
and it can cause a great deal of trouble for us as
well as literally vex us, BUT it will not have
dominion as long as we SEE THE FACT THAT
WE ARE DEAD INDEED TO SIN AND ALIVE
TO GOD.

It is our duty to MORTIFY, or subdue, all of

the members of our body as well as all the things
of this WORLD! Kill those desires as the
WEEDS and Pests that spread and destroy all
the GOOD things around us. It will be a
continual fight that goes on inside of us.

If we let that pet sin remain in us, it will stop us

from RUNNING THE RACE that is Set Before
us. If we let it continue, it will give great
POWER to Every Discouragement, and it will
cause us to become Weary and Faint.

If there is a sin that you just don't want to let

go of, or a sin that you just can't seem to get
victory over, Remind yourself of the GREAT
PRICE that Jesus Christ paid for
35
you and then take this flesh and tell it that it is
dead. It is Crucified. Listen to 1 John 2:6: “He
that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so
to walk, even as he walked.”
Galatians 5:16 “This I say then, Walk in the
Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”
I HAVE DECIDED TO FOLLOW JESUS....NO
TURNING BACK......
The EIGHTH aspect of faith is,
“THE ATTRIBUTE OF GOD AND THAT OF
THE NEW MAN WEREBY BOTH CAN
BRING INTO EXISTENCE THINGS THAT
ARE UNSEEN.”

Matthew 17:20 “And Jesus said unto them,

Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto
you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye
shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to
yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing
shall be
impossible unto you.”
Matthew 21:22 “And all things, whatsoever ye
shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”

This is all of your needs, not the wants that

could draw us away from serving our LORD.
How many of you believe what that verse says?
I gave you a couple of examples dealing with the
aspect of faith were we are to trust wholly and
36
unreservedly in the Faithfulness of God.
Now let me tell you another true story dealing
with this aspect of Faith.

A pastor and his family were at a small church

here in the states a number of years ago. The
church could not always pay their Pastor. One
particular time, the Pastor had been asked to
travel a long distance from home to preach at a
special meeting. His family would have to stay
home. It took every penny that they had for him
to make the trip. After a couple of days, she ran
out of most of the food that they had. The
children asked her what they would have for
Breakfast. She told them Children, I will make
bread tomorrow but tonight, you must pray for
some flour for me to make the bread. Those
children all prayed with mom. The next
morning, they all got up hoping to smell fresh
bread and have a some breakfast. Now all she
had left was a small handful of potatoes. She
told them all to sit down and she fried what
potatoes she had for them and then told them
that they would kneel around the table and
thank the LORD for the flour that was coming.
They prayed and thanked the LORD for the
flour. Then one of the boys looked out the
window and saw someone at the gate. The lady
came to the door and knocked. She did not have
a sack of flour. She began to talk to the mother
37
and finally said, “I was making breakfast for my
family this morning when I heard a voice tell me
to take a bag of flour to the Preachers wife. Do
you need some flour?” The pastors wife took her
to the counter were she had some things already
put together for the bread but there was no flour.
This lady then took all the boys out to the buggy.
She gave the oldest boy a big sack of flour. The
next boy she handed a big smoked ham. Another
was given a large jug of milk and the last one was
given a big bucket of butter. Then the lady said,
“I figured if the Lord was telling me to bring you
the flour then you probably needed the butter
also. I decided right then to bring extra things
for you.”

God had given that family more than they had

asked for. He will do the same for each of you as
well. If you will just TRUST HIM and have
FAITH IN HIM. In the book of Mark and
chapter 11, Jesus told his disciples, “...HAVE
FAITH IN GOD.” They had just come past the
fig tree that had withered up and died. With a
lack of faith, we will literally wither away
like that fig tree did.
In dealing with the fig tree, it is like any and all
religion in the world. Religion is worthless
without Jesus Christ. Most places have no Fruit
to show. They will wither away one day because
38
they reject Jesus Christ. Now, Jesus is teaching
His disciples to Pray in Faith believing. Faith
purifies the heart and removes the mountains of
corruption and makes them into useful
productive fields that will produce fruit. This is
all because of God's great Grace.
Again, Hebrews 11, the faith chapter shows us
what true faith is. We can read about each
person in this chapter and see how they turned
themselves completely over to God and they
believed by Faith that He would do as He had
promised to do.

HE NEVER FAILS!!!!!

The NINTH aspect of faith is

THE WHOLE BODY OF REVEALED TRUTH.

In the book of Luke, chapter 18 we read the

parable that Jesus spoke to the people that trust
in themselves. They believed that they were all
righteous before God and they all despised those
that were around them. In the parable, Jesus
tells them about a Judge that refused to listen to
a widow that came to him asking for help dealing
with her adversary. That judge had no fear of
GOD or man. He refused to listen to her. She
came day after day until he became weary of her
constant pestering. He finally agreed to help her
39
deal with the adversary. At the end of this first
parable, in verse 8 Jesus said this. “Nevertheless
when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith
on the earth? “

This world needs JESUS CHRIST. It is a must

to stand up and teach and preach this WHOLE
KING JAMES BIBLE. The book of JUDE, is
addressed to all believers. The reason for
this little book is to put the saved on guard
against the False Teachers that creep into the
church. They come in to do one thing and that is
to scatter about dangerous teaching by
attempting to lower all teaching to a merely
minimal belief and an outward profession of the
Gospel only.

Have you ever heard someone say, “You don't

have to be that serious about living what you
read. Do the things that you want to do and then
go to church on Sunday morning for an hour.
Thats good enough.” Here is what Jude 3 says,
3 “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write
unto you of the common salvation, it was needful
for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye
should earnestly contend for the faith which was
once delivered unto the saints.”

Every saved person has been called out of this

world!!!! We all have a higher calling and it is
40
dealing with Heavenly Things. These things are
unseen to us right now. Our lives are no longer
our own. We were bought with a Great Price.
The Blood of Jesus Christ. It is our duty to stand
strong against all False Teaching.

The only way for any of us to come to Jesus is

by hearing the True Word of God. Rom. 10:17
tells us, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and
hearing by the word of God.” It is hearing the
Word as the True Word of God that strengthens
our Faith. In 1 Tim. 4:1, we read this. “Now the
Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times
some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to
seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;”

We are seeing this take place today in churches.

There is a turning away from the whole revealed
TRUTH and the Pure Worship of God. I am
seeing men put other things up as more
important than serving. We all know 2 Tim.
3:16,17. 16 “All scripture is given by inspiration
of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof,
for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect,
thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” Not
one of us will know this Bible unless we get into it
and read it and meditate on it and study it. The
best time to learn the Bible is as a Child. Teach
your children now. All adults, the best time to
41
learn this Bible is 'START TODAY'
This bible should not set on a shelf when you
are not in Church. Let me ask you, HOW
MUCH DO YOU LOVE THIS BESSED OLE
BOOK? How can we oppose error if we are not
in this Bible. Once again, This aspect of Faith is:
THE WHOLE BODY OF REVEALED TRUTH.

Now for The TENTH aspect of Faith which has 8

points attached to it. This aspect of Faith is
dealing with:
JOYFUL FAITH IN AND ACCEPTANCE OF:

FIRST: Jesus Christ as our Substitute for Sin

and our Saviour whereby we receive Salvation.
Acts 4:12. “Neither is there salvation in any other:
for there is none other name under heaven given
among men, whereby we must be saved.”

SECOND: This is a JOYFUL FAITH IN, AND

ACCEPTANCE OF OUR ACCESS INTO
GRACE. Rom. 5:2 “By whom also we have
access by faith into this grace wherein we stand,
and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

THIRD: This is a JOYFUL FAITH IN AND

ACCEPTANCE OF THE FULFILLMENT OF
PROMISE. Heb. 6:12 “That ye be not slothful,
but followers of them who through faith and
42
patience inherit the promises.”
Every Promise that God has made to us is
settled forever. There are actually 2 things that
can never change. The Counsel and the Oath of
God. He cannot LIE. To the unbeliever,
Destruction is a Certainty. To the Saved, all that
have repented and accepted the Free Gift of God,
Eternal life is
also a Certainty.

FOURTH: This is a JOYFUL FAITH IN AND

ACCEPTANCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
Galatians 3:14 “That the blessing of Abraham
might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ;
that we might receive the promise of the Spirit
through faith”.

I am so glad that my Father sent a comforter,

the HOLY SPIRIT, to live in ME.

FIFTH: This is a JOYFUL FAITH IN AND

ACCEPTANCE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS. There
are several verses that I could read dealing with
this aspect. All of Rom. 4; Rom 9:30, 32; Rom.
10:6. I will read Phi. 3:9. “And be found in him,
not having mine own righteousness, which is of
the law, but that which is through the faith of
Christ, the righteousness which is of God by
faith:”
43
SIXTH: This is a JOYFUL FAITH IN AND
ACCEPTANCE OF SON SHIP.

I choose Gal. 3:26 for this verse. “For ye are all

the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.”

SEVENTH: This is a JOYFUL FAITH IN AND

ACCEPTANCE OF ETERNAL LIFE: John 3
gives us everything that we need for this. “That
whosoever believeth in HIM should not perish,
but have eternal life.”

EIGHTH: This is a JOYFUL FAITH IN AND

ACCEPTANCE OF ANSWERS TO EVERY
PRAYER. There are many verses that Jesus
gave us concerning Answers to EVERY Prayer.
We have read some of them already. I have
complete Faith in the Fact that you ask
according to HIS PERFECT WILL and the
answer will always come to you. Listen to John
15:7 “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in
you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done
unto you.”

That is a Promise from our Father for us. Every

aspect of Faith that we have looked at are
important to us. Faith is very much a part of our
WALK IN THE SPIRIT.
Living by
Faith
HAVE FAITH IN GOD!!!!!
