PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Head of Library Systems. College of Charleston Libraries. Charleston, South Carolina.


January 2010 – present.

• Supervise department comprised of two full-time librarians, one part-time librarian,


two permanent full-time support technicians, and student employees and interns.
• Oversee $100,000 technology budget and approve all technology-related purchases.
• Serve as the library’s primary liaison with the College’s IT division.
• Direct implementation of open-source software applications such as Omeka,
MobileCat, Fedora, MediaWiki, and the Public Knowledge Project’s Open Systems.
• Research and implement emerging technologies and ensure compliance with
metadata and digital preservation best practices.
• Collaborate with Metadata Librarian to develop EAD repository.
• Draft documentation detailing best practices and workflows for digitization, systems
maintenance, and web publishing.
• Supervise maintenance of Millennium ILS, ILLiad, CONTENTdm, and library web site.
• Lead implementation of Encore discovery platform and redesign of WebPAC.
• Develop platform to deliver College-based open-access journals.
• Research and develop platform to deliver individually-purchased e-books.

migration of content from old library web site to LibGuides. Oversee creation of
departmental WordPress blogs to streamline web publishing workflow.

configure WebBridge OpenURL resolver.
• Lead implementation of embedded virtual reference services.
• Draft procedural workflows for digitization practices and systems maintenance.
