Product information

Acephob S

ACEPHOB S is a solvent free coating for sandblasted glass. It leaves the aspect of the glass virtually
unchanged and covers the glass surface with a protective layer against dirt and water. Both effects
can be improved by heat curing. Contamination such as fingerprints can be removed without
problems.

Specification

Refractive index: 1.336 - 1.339 DIN 51432 (20 °C)

pH (conc.): 3-5 pH-Indicator strips
Contact angle: > 100 ° AC MV 64d
(sandblasted glass)

Use
Preparation

At first the glass dust sticking to the sandblasted glass surface must be removed by:

- cleaning the glass with compressed air

- wiping off the glass dust with an antistatic cloth
- cleaning the glass in a suitable glass washing machine (in case of questions please contact
our application laboratory)

Application

Optimum results are obtained by applying ACEPHOB S horizontally with a low pressure air spray gun
(e.g. Walther pilot 93-ND).
If a spray gun is not available, ACEPHOB S can be applied manually. In this case ACEPHOB S is
sprayed onto the glass surface with a spray bottle and then spread uniformly over the sandblasted
glass surface using a clean cloth/paint roller.
After a drying time of approx. 5 minutes, the glass can be transported. To ensure complete drying, the
treated glass is left overnight.

Note: Before applying ACEPHOB S we recommend to protect all parts of the glass which were not
sandblasted since on clear glass ACEPHOB S leaves a milky residue.

Consumption

In order to achieve a homogeneous application ACEPHOB S should be used economically. More than
10 -20 ml/m² should not be applied.

After treatment

If an improved water and dirt repellent effect is required, the coated glass has to be heated up to
approx. 80°C for 1 min. This can be achieved by using hot air (commercially available hairdryer or
industrial fan) or by infra-red lamps. For further information please contact our application laboratory.

IMPORTANT: Glass coated with ACEPHOB S is cleaned with hot water. In case of very resistant
residues use white spirit first and than a commercial glass cleaner.

Handling
Please note that inhalation of aerosols or spray mists must be avoided.
Where no suitable ventilation is available, suitable protective equipment, e.g. particle mask, shall be
worn.
For more safety information please see our Material Safety Data Sheet.

Storage
Stored in well-closed containers at temperatures between 5 and 35 °C the minimum shelf life of
ACEPHOB S is 1 year. Temperatures higher than 40 °C and frost must be avoided.
