The Baptism of the Lord
When Jesus came to John to be baptized, John resisted proclaiming his unworthiness. Jesus insisted
and John obeyed. We, too, must not let our unworthiness stand in the way of the Lord’s leading.
False humility does not serve the Lord. Listen, obey and see what God will do.

385 Holy Hour adorers spent an hour with our Lord in Eucharistic Adoration this past week. If Jesus
were actually visible in Church, everyone would run to welcome Him, but he remains hidden in the
Sacred Host under the appearance of Bread, because he is calling us to faith, that we may come to Him
in humility. Open hours are: Monday 10-11pm, Tuesday 2-3am, Friday 6-7pm,8-9pm, Saturday 12-1pm,
8-9pm and Sunday 4-5pm. If you or someone you know is looking for quiet time, please call Judy at
330-212-0926.

MINISTRY NIGHT.
CHRISTMAS DINNER 2010 was the best ever in that the faithful volunteers joyfully served at least
250 dinners. Guests were able to enjoy the food on Christmas Day (many coming through the line for
seconds, perhaps thirds) as well as the 76 takeout containers used. As has become a St. Augustine
tradition, the SAC was decorated in true holiday fashion. Guests were able to choose a hat and gloves to
keep them warm. Some gifts were available to young children who otherwise would have received
nothing. All this because of you, dear parishioners! Enough money was donated to cover
our dinner costs as well as the purchase of the hats, gloves and toys given and to have a
little to spare to stock up on winter accessories while they are on sale now. THANK YOU
TO EVERYONE WHO CONTRIBUTED TO THE DINNER IN ANY WAY: Our cooks, Linda &
Howard Lansberry, the wonderful set-up crew, those who helped before the dinner began, those who
served during the dinner, and the generous clean-up crew. Special thanks to those who donated money,
baked goods – including 17 Market Day pies, decorating items, delicious corn lovingly removed from the
cobs (left over from our Parish Picnic), bread and rolls donated by Hiss Bakery, and anything else not
listed! Through the love and generosity of so many of you (at least 60 volunteers were involved) the
Kingdom of God was able to be furthered in Barberton this Christmas Day! May God continue to bless
you and use you to His greater glory, honor and praise.

Karen Bellett, Pastoral Minister

"The SVDP Society delivered 102 Food Baskets, 51 for Thanksgiving and 51 for Christmas. There
are so many people to thank: the children of St. Augustine Grade school who provided enough
cans of food to supply all the baskets generously, the workers who prepared the baskets and all
those who delivered them. This could not be accomplished without the help of all these
people. A special thanks to the Babcox and Wilcox Co.- Nuclear Operations Group for donating
50 Turkey’s for the Christmas Baskets."

THANK YOU, DEAN! Parishioner Dean Shultz held the position of webmaster of the St.
Augustine web site for several years. Dean gave a great deal of energy and time to the
seemingly thankless task of trying to develop it. Thank you, Dean, for so generously sharing
your time and talents.

You shall then keep the feast of Weeks in honor of the Lord, your God, and the
measure of your own freewill offering shall be in proportion of the blessing the Lord, your God, has
bestowed on you. Dt 16:10
Just as the Maji brought treasures to the baby Jesus, we thank the many parishioners
who shared their treasures with us this Christmas Season. Special thanks to the
Children’s, Teen and Adult Choirs under the direction of Donna Kandes and Ray
Correll who provided the gift of beautiful music, and to all the sacristans, who used
their gifts to prepare the sanctuary for the birth of Jesus. We are truly blessed to have such
devoted and talented parishioners. Thank you!
