 2 Install & Uninstall

Install
Welcome to Motion Dive!
In order to start installation, you need the 2 CD-Roms included in the
package. Regardless of the type of your PC (Windows, Mac OS 9, OS
X...etc), please insert Disc 1 into your CD-Rom driver.
When you start up the Installer, instructions for installation will be indicated
on your screen. Please check the printed sheet of installation that comes
with the package.

Uninstaller

The process of uninstalling Motion Dive varies, depending on your operating system.
•Windows：On the Start Menu, you should find <Uninstaller for Motion Dive>.
Please follow the instructions.
•Mac (OS9, OS X)You can uninstall from your pop up menu of the installer, also you
can uninstall by dragging and dropping <motion dive. Tokyo> out of the application
folder and into the desktop trash bin.
The Motion Dive Uninstaller does not delete all the files created by users. If you want to delete all
your files for Motion Dive or to clean installation, you must throw away the <My MD Tune> folder
into the bin. The instruction on <My MD Tune> is sited below.

3 Folder Structures

Structure of "My MD Tune"

"motion dive .tokyo"Folder (Application)
This folder includes the actual Motion Dive application.
•Windows：Normally, <c:\Program Files\digitalstage\motion dive Tokyo>
•Mac OS9：The folder will be created on <Applications Mac OS9> folder.
•Mac OS X：The folder will be created on <Applications> folder.
For OSX, it will be installed on <Applications> folder on a system domain.

The structure of "MyMDTune" folder

<My MD Tune> folder the place to keep all your visuals, music, & Plug-ins files. My
MD Tune folder requires your adjustment when you are adding Plug-ins or Music.
Windows : usually located on the C: drive root directory (C: My MD Tune).
Mac OS : located in the same folder as Motion Dive application.
<Library>Folder How to open <MyMDTune> Folder
All movies, stills, Flash movie files and the set up for Macro are located here. Windows - You can shortcut from <Start Menu> for open up
<My MD Tune> folder.
<Musics>Folder
Mac - It is located at the same place as the application.
To import your mp3 files for <Music Player> Plug-In, you need to manually add files
to this folder.
<Plug-ins>Folder
The Plug-Ins for controlling visuals and control extensions are added to this folder.
There are several plug-ins when you first installed Motion Dive.
<Texts>Folder
All text motion patterns (text layer files) and indications of real time motion
typography (Text Plug In) are located here. These files are purchased later as an
option or you may add your own typographies.

 4 Initial Start Up

Personalize motion dive

When you start up for the first time, there is an indicator for registering user's
name and serial numbers. Then your motion dive will be personalized for you.
Type any name as user name.

5 How to quit the application

Quit
To quit Motion Dive, open Menu bar and quit, or click the button on the
top right of your screen.

A Basic Control Area

The main features of the A-B Control System were made by the first version
of Motion Dive in 1998.By dragging and dropping mages into 2 channels,
you are able to mix 2 different motion images on your screen.The Basic
controls of Motion Dive consist of 3 control areas.
A-1 AB Control
Both A & B channels operate the same functions.
Probably the most important part of the interface (control area) is the A&B
Control section.
A-2 Mixer
The Motion Dive Mixer has 2 functions - a mixing fader and a cutting fader to
automatically change a screen image.
A-3 Total Control Module
The Total Control Module is a control area where you can fade screened
images in or out, or enlarge your output visuals to full screen.
This window creates icons when you add your original images, still
images, and Flash MX movie files into your library. Here, you not only can
store the titles of your images, but also designate visual icons for each
files (thumbnails), which are automatically inserted when files are
imported.Moreover, you can also specify the images that are created by
other users or by other machines (Player Change Function).
F Performance Window
This is the area to view your performance. It is normally set to function
with this screen size, however you can also click a Full Screen Button to
view your visuals in full screen. If you have a dual monitoring environment,
you may have a full-screen performance on one monitor and the Motion
Dive interface on the other. This is especially useful when giving
presentations.

B Control Plug-In Area G Menu Viewer

This area is where you totally control Motion Dive itself. ・Navigation
The Control Plug-ins are BPM, Macro Recording and Music Player. Navigation provides help, information and news updates. Please
check the Navigation every once in a while
・Import
This for importing images or for storing images.
・Full Screen
C Visual plug-In area This is to display your performance screen in full screen.
The Visual Plug-In area contains Plug-ins that enhance the ・Quit

 Basic Control 1/2

Basic Control is built very simply.

The channels A&B operate exactly the same functions. Imagine you have
2 sets of good quality VCRs in front of you. They <PLAY> / <PAUSE> /
<REWIND ALL> (SCRATCH). To change the speed of your clips, the
Motion Dive Speed Controller enables you to change to various speed
configurations. It also has Fade In/Out controller or Sub Channels that
could stand by other clips. The mixing fader of Motion Dive can cut your
visuals from one channel to another, or with 3 different Auto Faders,
switch the visual from one to another.

A-1 ABControl Simply drag & drop your visuals from your library!

The AB Control is the main panel of motion dive, and is built very simply. It
consists of 6 simple feature devices.
Drag a visual file (thumbnail) from your library and drop into Channel A, it will

A-2 Mixer This Mixer is where you mix your visuals located on Channel A-B.

The TAP button memorizes the change of an actual mix.

Switch on the TAP button, then tap in your mixing points on the AB
SWITCH, it memorizes the mix and automatically loops your mix. When the
Auto Fader is off, it changes the clip from A-B according to your tap points
on the AB SWITCH.

5. OFF
The OFF button stops the current mixing function,
resetting both Auto Fader and Tap functions.

Use the combination of Auto Fade & TAP function!
When you TAP, you may switch
On/Off the Auto Fader to make
more variations to your
performance.
TAP has a quantizing function.
TAP is able to memorize a maximum of 8 switch timings. If
you click the switch to the same tempo as the music you’re
playing, it begins to synchronize itself to it.
※When TAP is clicked too quickly, the first several clicks are
automatically ignored, but it eventually grasps the tempo in time.

Q: The AB Fader does not respond when the tap is on.

A: There are some instances when your A-B Fader will not respond.
This is not a fault as it is only trying to work out the current mix set up.

 CONTROL PLUG-IN
All the control plug-ins are located here.
The basic Control Plug-Ins are BPM/MACRO/MUSIC PLAYER.
To select plug-ins, click the top left icon of each plug-in.

BPM SYNC mode

The BPM function enables you to make any length of visuals into the length To synchronize

The Import File Management Window is where you can view all your imported files.

imported, another window appears for you to choose
whether you want to copy the selected file/folder, or to
move the selected file/folder. When this is chosen, it
automatically shoots a picture for creating a thumbnail
for this visual clip file.

If you want to change the picture of the thumbnail that
was automatically shot, you can find your favorite part
of the clip to re-shoot a picture for a new thumbnail.

SETTING

The visual & sound Output
There is no need to set up any other equipment if you are enjoying Motion
Dive just for yourself. However, if you are showing your visual images to
others at an event or presentation, you need to connect with other
equipment to output visual & audio.
Project Motion Dive visuals on TV & Projector
To project visuals use the below methods that are appropriate.
Motion Dive as a software is not supporting to project visuals outside
your PC, however; you can project your visuals by projecting your PC
screen.

Project with AV Output

Macro & Live Recording
To record the visuals on Motion Dive, you may try the below methods.
Once you can output the visual from your PC, you can lively record it onto
any visual recording devices.
Show your visuals to your friends
By using Macro function, you can show your visuals by screening it on your
laptop, or connect to your VCR and record the visuals.
If your PC has AV output terminal, you can project a PC screen from AV
terminal.(Please check your PC manual)
When connection is completed, you can project with full screen. If AV
output terminal is not on your PC, you need a scan converter to project
your visuals.
Project visuals with the highest quality resolutions
If you use RGB monitor output terminal, you can project your visuals with
high resolutions. Please check if your Plasma display or your projector is
connectable to RGB Input of your PC. With this set up, you need to be in
a dual monitoring environment.

Record on DVD Project visuals using Scan Converter

We also recommend you to use a DVD Recorder to show people your

To do this, simply drag a part of your performance window and drop it

into the other screen, then click full screen button. When you use Dual
Monitoring Function, please set up a monitor resolution before the
procedure. (If resolution is XGA, the visuals will be full screened as XGA.)
If the original resolution is high enough, Motion Dive can project the
visuals without losing their quality.
PREVIEW INTERVAL
If you have a high spec machine, you can preview the same visuals on
your interface as your full screen monitor. Do this by clicking the
<PREVIEW> button. When doing this, it is better to lower the frames with
the <INTERVAL> bar to lighten the workload on your PC.

System environment / Starting / Quitting

•Can I change a user when the PC is a multiuser environment? •The <application> folder is not displayed. (OSX)
