Professional Experience

• Presently working as Consultant Neurosurgeon with Apollo BSR Hospital, Bhillai


since January 2010. Here I am running the whole department independently and
performing diverse craniospinal surgeries independently. I successfully performed
the first double cervical disc replacement surgery successfully at the hospital, It is
first of its kind in whole of central India.
• We have a Philips DSA lab with flat panel and road mapping on which I have
already performed 2 cases of aneurysm coling with an associate from Nagpur. I
am interested in developing the same in our institution.
• I am performing all kind of complex cranial and spinal surgeries like Disc
replacement, Kyphoplasty and Spinal instrumentation at all levels

• Associate consultant Max Superspeciality Hopital from Dec 2007 to Jan 2010. I
was in charge of Neuro ICU with staff of 30 people (ICU residents, Residents,
nursing and technical staff). I was performing all kind of Cranial and Spinal
surgery. I have assisted Dr Vipul Gupta there in number of cases of interventional
neurosurgery. Max is one of the best-equipped hospitals in India. Here about
twelve hundred major neurosurgical operations are performed each year. Thus I
was exposed to the latest and most advanced neurospine technologies in the
world. I developed endoscopic neurosurgery in the department. I was
independently operating in the Brian-Suite (Intra-operative MRI with Neuro-
navigation) for 2 years. Here I got exposure to stereotactic radio surgery (Gamma
knife surgery) under Dr. Sandeep Vaishya. To upgrade my skill I completed the
Gamma knife course at UPMC.

• I further got training in DBS implantation from Dr Sandeep Vaishya and


assisted more than 10 cases .
• Clinical Assistant in Dept of Neurosurgery Sir Gangaram Hospital, Delhi
(Aug 2006 to Nov 2007). I was doing all kind of complex cranial and spinal
surgeries under supervision. I also performed a number of Endoscopic spinal
procedures specially the Endoscopic discectomy.

• Senior Resident (Neurosurgery) at LNJP hospital( Aug 2005 to July 2006).


The hospital attached to Maulana Azad Medical College. This is one of the largest
tertiary care referral centres of North India, with one of the largest trauma centers
in India. During my tenure here, I operated on more than 500 poly-trauma patients
independently.

• During 2005-2006 I acquired Diploma in Hospital Management from National


Institute of health and family welfare, Delhi. This was a distance cum contact
programme with submission of compulsory project report.

• Clinical fellow in Dept. of Neurosurgery for six weeks at NIMHANS Bangalore.


Learned basics of microneurosurgery and learned vascular anastomosis on animal

PG training Experience

Aug 2003 to July2005:


• The last two years out of five-year training programme, I worked as Senior
Resident. During this period I was rotated to specialty units i.e. Neurovascular
and Skull Base unit, Pediatric Neurosurgery unit and Spinal Neurosurgery unit.

• Job responsibilities included independent management in wards and assisting all


the operative cases.

• Further as the Senior PG, I was responsible for resident teaching. The
responsibility included taking formal operative session discussions and tutorials
for the postgraduate trainees, both inter and intra-departmental.

• Microsurgical Training at Johnson & Johnson Institute New Delhi. This part
of my training included, dissection of sheep brain and anastomosis of vessels in
live anesthetized rats.
