Dates shown are original release dates or the date of initial distribution to your television station. Prints, in limited supply, are available for your library, either to replace worn prints you now have or as initial distribution to new stations. Prints will be mailed without charge ty FCDA upon your request. Your State or local civil defense officers will be glad to help you publicize your scheduling of these important public service films. Many local offices elso have on hand additional scripts and visual nateriels and will want to cooperate with you when you build live interview or documentary programs around civil defense. TV_SPOT_ANNOUNCEMENT SERIES ~ Based on the official public booklets of the sane titles, these four animated filns have been released by FODA in both Z-mimte and 1-minute versions: "Pare Fighting for Householders" (Oct. 1951) This is Civil Defense" (Sep, 1952) What You Should Know About Biological Warfare” (Sept.1952) "Emergency Action to Save Lives" (Sep. 1952) "TAKE COVER" SERIES - Released by FODA in a 4-mim: Versions, the "TAKE COVER" Series is live action picturization of instructions on the official FODA aiz raid warning card (Apr. 1952): "Take Cover" ~ 4 minutes "Take Cover - Air Raid Instructions for Those at Work" - 1-mimte “Take Cover- " i for the Home’ " "Take Cover = " . if You're in the “Take Cover = " " " for Those at Scho: fake Cover = " =" " for Those in Vehicles" "SCHOOL FOR SURVIVAL” ~ This 20-mimite film describes basic techniques of fire fighting and rescue, It shovs how communities through =2e cooperative action can construct and operate, at virtually no expense, a civil defense training facility for teaching these techniques. ‘Availatle on loan basis through FCDA regional offices (Nov. 1952). "U.S, CIVIL DEFENSE IN ACTION" ~ Designed especially for television, this 13-mimte film highlights what has been done in civil defense and what must be done, It includes action footage of disaster and training operations in Los Angeles, Albuquerque, New York City and Providence, and puts special emphasis on the cooperation given civil defense by the information media in bringing survivel information to the public (Jan. 1953). "OPERATION DOORSTEP" - 10-minute film based on the civil defense atomic test at Yucca Flat, Nevada, March 17, 1953. Produced by @ comercial studio at no expense to the Federal government, prints and television rights to this film have been secured by FCDA for use by television stations. Film includes a "stop motion" special effect sequence show~ ing every detail of destruction of a civil defense Test House as it is destroyed by the blest. Also placement of mannequins in cars, test houses and shelters, activity on Nevs Nob on shot day, including television preparations for the nationwide coverage, and "before® and "after" scenes showing blast results (June 1953). MQONELRAD" TV_KIT - Includes 20-second souni-film spot announcement, Bx 10 flip card, 4x 5 belop card, 2x 2 slide and spot announcement scripts. These materials inform the public about use of the CONELRAD system of emergency broadcasting and emphasize the CONELRAD Standard AM radio frequencies - 640 and 1240 (Jane 1953). RECRUITING SERIES - Ten 20-second spot announcement films based on the FODA black and vhite Recruiting Poster Series, which make a forceful appeal for volunteers to sign up for training and participation in one of the ten Civil Defense Services: i.e., Communications, Trans~ portation, Police, Fire, Welfare, Staff, Warden, Rescue, Health, Engineering.
