ABSTRACT

chroma-keying is often used in television shows and newscasts to

present a live person in front of a completely different background.Modern
filmmaking attempts to blur the line between fiction and reality. Actors and actresses
may look like they are performing in Rome, New York or the planet Tatooine, but are
actually in front of a blue or green screen. This process, known as chroma keying ,
digitally replaces a background with either a still picture or with video, giving the
illusion that the scene is taking place in a far-away city - or on a distant planet.

Chroma key is an editing technique in which two images or videos

are composited together to create a single, finished image or a video. This editing
technique is sometimes referred to as blue or green screen, referencing the backdrop
used to film the subject of an image which will be subjected to the chroma key
process. This editing technique is used extensively in film and television to create a
range of special effects, and the basic concept is familiar to many film fans as a
result.Video Chroma Keying is also known as "blue screening" in the movie
industry.Choose a color that is NOT prominent in your subject. For example, if the
subject has green clothing on, choose the Blue Chroma key Screen.

Movies have developed into motion images that go beyond what the
regular guy can imagine. This is because of the development in technology behind
movie production. Everything seems to be within reach, no matter how far it can be
with the aid of chroma green screen. Also known as Chroma Key technology, this
makes movie makers more powerful in presenting visuals that are too far for actual
experience and even those that our own eyes have not personally witnessed in reality.

Basically, chroma green screen technology involves mixing two

images. The background comes with a solid color in order for the main picture to be
easily transposed in front of it. Most people use blue, but the ideal option is green
especially for film making. This is because the image sensors in video cameras are
highly sensitive to the color green. More so, green camera channels have been found
to make really clean masks and have less noise compared to others. In addition to that,
there is not much need to have the color green illuminated.

When using this technology, however, a number of things should be

taken note of. For one, the production team should utilize the best kind of lights and
cameras since bad lighting can result to unnecessary shadows and shades produced
out of nowhere on the screen. This is a problem if they do not fit the rest of the scene.

Most filmmakers and photographers have found how chroma green

screen technology can be further helpful in solving a number of their problems.
Topping the line of uses of this technology is being the ultimate solution to not having
a real life background. This is the tool for filmmakers’ flexibility. With the help of the
Chroma Key, it is a piece of cake to end up with a scene in outer space or in ancient
Greece.
Professionals are using the green screen technology that is most
famous in Hollywood. It is not limited to filmmakers alone since it can also be really
useful in television shows and advertisements, studio photography and for magazine
shoots. It is great for anyone who wishes to create an impression with visual
presentations. This technology, coupled with a good amount of talent can create any
images the mind can conceive, making it a highly dependable tool in the fields of film
making and photography.

Sometimes chroma key is used in small amounts. This is a tactical

approach that confines the computerized part of the film to a highly targeted area.
Sometimes news rooms use this technology to pin a small piece of green or blue
material behind the news anchor, allowing them to rotate computerized images from
behind the scenes. Small pieces of the green or blue material can also be applied to
the front of the news desk, allowing the computer the display advertisements or to
scroll stock values. Those who are making traditional films can use this technique to
make ordinary props have a totally different appearance, simply by wrapping them in
green material and then using a computer to replace the prop with a computer
generatedimage.

Some films make heavy use of chroma key to add backgrounds that
are constructed entirely using computer-generated imagery (CGI). Performances from
different takes can even be composited together, which allows actors to be filmed
separately and then placed together in the same scene. Chroma key allows performers
to appear to be in any location without even leaving the studio.

The chroma key technique is also used to create special effects like
invisibility, with the actor wearing garments and makeup which approximate the tone
of the chroma key background so that he or she will disappear in the finished image.
Chroma key can be used to make it look like actors are in dangerous, crowded, or
fantastical situations with a greatly reduced cost to the producers, and with less stress
for cast and crew.
