This week I will be concluding our sermon series entitled: “That’s NOT in the Bible.” Over the last three weeks we
have taken a closer look at various phrases that American people believe are in the Bible. Maybe you have been
surprised to find out that, “Cleanliness is next to Godliness,” “Always let your conscience be your guide,” and “God
will not put you through more than you can bear,” is not in scripture. This week we will examine William
Shakespeare’s “To thine own self be true.” I hope you will join us.
Since we will be dealing with being “true” on Sunday, allow me to share a few thoughts on Paul’s writing in
Ephesians 6. He said, “Stand your ground, putting on the sturdy belt of truth.” (Eph. 6: 14)
Of what was Paul speaking? We need to think of the Roman soldier for a moment. The Romans didn’t wear pants
like we do today. Yet look at the prominence Paul gives to their belt. The belt was essential to everything else. The
soldier’s breastplate was attached to his belt, and so was the sheath for his sword. Therefore if the belt came loose,
the soldier could possibly lose his sword and his protective breastplate. So the belt was vitally important. That’s
why Paul put it at the top of the list. To have your belt tightened means you’re ready for battle and ready to move.
What can we take away from this?
 We need to be on duty at all times. We cannot afford to take a few days off spiritually.
 We must keep our armor on at all times, because the moment we take it off is the moment the devil will be
there to hit us with full force.
Remember the Lord’s promise to His people: “The truth is in Jesus.” (Eph. 4:21) Ask God to show you any
shortage of truth in the way you view yourself and those around you. His Holy Spirit is “the Spirit of truth” (Jn.
14:17) and the Spirit will faithfully reveal this to you.

Have a great week.

Brad, Eph. 3:20-21

Guest Speaker PICTORIAL DIRECTORY
Mark Scott, Academic Dean Some have been asking about the status of the pictorial
Ozark Christian College directory. We are currently trying to finalize our design
work. Watch for future updates!
We currently need helpers in the following areas in
the church family: nursery workers, power point and
sound operators, and a volunteer to oversee the Guest
Ministry. Let Brad know if you are willing to help in
any of these areas.
The “Explorers” class, by the
communion preparation room and
taught by Tom Puckett has been re-
named the “Christian Conqueror’s

the Apostles and their lives starting
this Sunday morning and each week
thereafter we will cover the life of PREGNANCY DECISION HEALTH CENTER
one of the Apostles. To those of you who missed the speaker from PDHC
Sunday evening, we have agreed to join in a
“fundraiser” to help support the Pregnancy Center here
in town. It‟s the „BABY BOTTLE” fundraiser! We have
empty baby bottles in the parlor for families or groups to
take home and fill with pocket change and return to
Norma Holtom by Valentine‟s Day. She will deliver
them back to PDHC. Thank you so much for your
