COMPANY OVERVIEW
Industry veteran Kevin McNamara has been named vice president of Commercial Air
Conditioning for LG Electronics USA. McNamara, who brings more than two decades of
experience to his new role at LG, will be responsible for managing and leading LG's
commercial, residential and applied air conditioning business in the United States.
McNamara reports to Senior Vice President James Lee, who leads the LG Electronics USA's
Air-Conditioning & Energy Solutions business unit. LG Electronics USA also announced that
Darren Gibula, a 10-year air conditioning industry veteran, has been appointed operations
director for Commercial Air Conditioning, reporting to McNamara. Gibula and McNamara
will be based in the company's U.S. air conditioning headquarters in Alpharetta, Ga.
McNamara joined LG Electronics from Carrier Corporation, where he was most recently
Region General Manager, based in Dallas. During his four-year tenure there, McNamara
helped develop go-to-market strategies to increase the company's Commercial Applied
market share, overall business margins, employee engagement and customer satisfaction.
Gibula, whose responsibilities will include overseeing daily operational performance of
CAC's customer service, order management, technical support, inventory, training, facilities
management and business process improvement efforts, joins LG Electronics USA from
Carrier Corporation, where he held key operations, logistics, distribution and supply chain
positions since 2000. His previous experience includes quality management and consulting
positions with Pratt & Whitney, Computer Sciences Corporation and Andersen Consulting.
LG Electronics U.S.A., Inc. has unveiled the LG "HD Sound Bar," a home theater accessory
designed to elevate audio performance, complement LG's advanced flat panel displays and
deliver a superb home theater experience. Shown publicly for the first time at its CES Sneak
Peek in New York City and available early next year, the LG HD Sound Bar enhances the
audio output of an HDTV by adding additional speakers and subwoofer capabilities to
produce powerful 2.1 channel virtual surround sound. The LSB316 includes six speaker
drivers housed in a sleek, stylish speaker bar which can be placed directly below the TV or
wall mounted. The bar is accompanied by a wireless subwoofer which can be conveniently
placed out of sight while delivering deep, rich bass. The HD Sound Bar's slim design allows
for easy wall mounting, which matches up perfectly with a 42-inch class screen, one of the
most popular class sizes sold in the United States. The LSB316 also includes Bluetooth
capability which allows the user to wirelessly stream music from their Bluetooth-enabled
smart phone, tablet PC or MP3 player to the bar and enjoy the high quality audio

The changes announced today will go into effect on 1 January 2010. The organisational
changes were initiated to allow the company to take better advantage of the global business
environment in the coming years.
For example:, moving the nascent solar business operation to the Air Conditioning (AC)
Company from under the R&D umbrella of the CTO’s office will give the renewable energy
business new opportunities for rapid growth.
The Commercial Air Conditioning (CAC) business team is being expanded into a separate
division as part of the AC Company’s plan to enhance its business-to-business capabilities.
BB Hwang, 55, currently executive vice president (EVP) and chief executive for LG’s
Business Solutions Company, has been appointed to head the newly created Customer
Relationship Division.
He will continue to report directly to CEO Yong Nam. The new chief executive of the
Business Solutions Company will be Soon-hwang Kwon, 51, currently SVP and chief
executive of LG’s Australia subsidiary.
Other new appointments to top management positions include three chief executives for
North America, China and Korea operations.
Wayne Park, 50, currently EVP and head of LG Korea, and Choong-bong Cho, 55, formerly
head of LG’s China subsidiary, were named chief executives for the North America and
China Regions, respectively. Kyung-joon Park, 51, was promoted to senior vice president
(SVP) and chief executive for Korea, replacing Wayne Park.
Nam also appointed 31 new vice presidents and promoted seven SVP’s. LG also appointed
five non-Koreans to head up overseas subsidiaries: James N. Shad for the United States, Eric
Surdej for France, Bjorn Drablos in Sweden, Bjorn Berg Andersen for Benelux and Eric
Agius in Canada.
LG continues its push to globalize its operations in order to enhance its market leadership by
leveraging international talent, a strategy initiated by Nam in 2007.
