The family lives in La Union.

The family is an extended type of family. The mother-in-law of the head of the family
stays together with the family.

In terms of decision making in the matters of the health care, the wife who is is dominant
decision maker. But still, she consults her children with suggestions to have the best decision.

Upon the gathering of essential information during the interview, there were some
noted conflicts or misunderstanding or miscommunication in the family especially financial
problems. The family uses Pangasinense and Ilocano as their primary dialect in communication.
The children is respecting their mother and their grandmother. When answering queries, they
use ͚po͛ and ͚opo͛ but between the second and the third child, miscommunications always
occur.

The wife and the children decides how the money will be spent. The family͛s main
source of income is the salary of the wife working as an OFW in other country. The family͛s
gross income is 20,000 in a month. The income is sufficient in the family. The wife can meet all
the basic necessities that they need for clothing, food and shelter because only 2 of the children
are going to the school.

The wife is a high school graduate. The eldest and the second child is a high school
graduate, they didn͛t pursue their college level because of their attitudes. The third child is in
2nd yr college taking up nursing in College and the youngest is in her 2nd year college taking up
computer science in Union Christian College too.

The family is affiliated to Roman Catholic Church. They believe in God and have faith in
him. The family is not active in any community activities.

The family has an adequate living space. The children have their own room. The first and
the second sleep together in one room while the third and the youngest have their own rooms.
Due to that their house has not yet been finished, the hazards that may cause harm to the their
family are the unexpected falling of debris and there is also some part of the house that is
hazardous in terms of fire. There is also presence of rodents and insects in their house because
of the presence of stock water in car wheels that can be the breeding place of mosquito and
other insects. Because the house is placed in a Mountainous area, they are lacking in
transportation but yet jeepney and tricycle can reach the area. They have their own bathroom
with water based toilet and they use ͞tabo͟ and pale in taking a bath. The water they use in
taking a bath, washing dishes and clothes came from the river while their drinking water is
delivered by water stations. In cooking their food, they use gas stove and charcoal. The cooking
equipments are hanged in the walls in the kitchen. They store their food in refrigerator to
prevent contamination and spoilage of food. They dispose their garbage in a rice sack then it is
being collected by the garbage truck every Saturday and sometimes, they dispose their garbage
through burying and burning. The neighbor is not congested. There was at least 20 meters
distance between the houses. The nearest health facility is located 500 meters away from the
house.

They have appliances such as computer without internet connection, rice cooker,
refrigerator, television, dvd player with speakers, electric fan, microwave, coffee maker with
oven toaster and electric iron. They also utilize cellular phones as their means of

The head of the family has a family history of hypertension. The third child has
hypertension too. They use OTC drugs in treating minor illnesses. If they have severe illness
they prefer to go quickly to the nearest clinic and hospital.

The family eats a balanced diet 3x a day. They make sure that they eat 1-2 servings of
vegetable everyday. They are fond in eating junked foods. And most of them are alcoholic,
they drink almost 5x a week.

The first, second and the youngest were born in the hospital attended by a doctor while
the third child was born in clinic in Mangaldan, Pangasinan attended by a midwife. All are
normal delivery.
