Introduction-
Western culture has only one constant that ‘things will change .Yet people resist to change .introducing
and administering change is one of the most difficult and challenging task people face .A Greek
philosopher Heraclitus once said ‘there is nothing permanent except change”

Effect of change –
Unfortunately change often occurs only after manager recognize that condition are in a state of crises
.So a more rational approach is for leader to attempt to anticipate the need for change and to develop
creative innovation before serious problem evolve

Potential obstacles of change –

Manager who intend to manage the change particularly change of large scale ,need to prepare
themselves to encounter quite a few potential obstacles -

1 it always take longer –People learn slowly and forget easily it takes a long time to change usually a lot
longer than expected the larger your organisation is longer it will take

2 Exaggerated expectation ,every wants everything now – turn people own and they get turned on
.Deliver some progress and people want lot of progress immediately and they look to you to deliver
that progress

3 Carping skeptics – there are professional skeptics in every organisation .unfortunately you can’t ignore
these sceptics .Of course they point out significant obstacles that you have overlooked . Furthermore a
large no of employees hear them .they are often loud and persistant in their carping negative comments
.

4 Procastination – Vision involves the intangibilities of running a company such as consumer attitude
and consumer motivations. They deal in uncomfortable and difficult areas and they are all too easily
postponed.Vision supporting activities are all to easily postponed. They are difficult to do and often are
viewed as not part of individual’s real job.

5 Imperfection - Prepare yourself for failure-at least of the time.A vision does not guarantee
perfection. You will make mistakes.Your people will make mistakes. There will be backsliding from time to
time.Expect it ,anticipate it and accept because it will happen.
