always promoted events like BAJA and SUPRA which is not only beneficial to the
students but also is instrumental in getting students placed in automotive
companies like MAHINDRA & MAHINDRA,TATA,CUMMINS and
KIRLOSKAR to name a few.
About BAJA SAE INDIA:-

The objective of the competition is to provide SAE student members with a

challenging project that involves design, engineering, planning, manufacturing and
marketing the tasks found when introducing a new product to the consumer
industrial market. Teams compete against one another to have their design
accepted for manufacture by a fictitious firm.

The Baja competition endeavours to inculcate and harness talent to augment design
and engineering skills of the Indian students. The goal of this competition is to
provide these students a world class platform to showcase their talent and potential
not only in terms of design and engineering skills, but also assess their capability
for team-work, entrepreneurship, leadership and management skills.
Students must function as a team not only to design, build, test, promote, and race
a vehicle within the limits of the rules, but also to generate financial support for
their project and manage their educational priorities.

Each team‟s goal is to design and build a prototype of a rugged single seat, off-
road recreational four-wheel vehicle intended for sale to the non-professional,
weekend off-road enthusiast. The competition goals include that the vehicle must
be safe, easily transported, easily maintained and fun to drive. It should be able to
negotiate rough terrain in all types of weather without damage to the driver or
vehicle.

This is the largest off-road testing facility in the world which consists of about 368
acres of land given for this competition.
About the Vehicle:-

The car is powered by a LOMBARDINI LP-340 engine. The students are

responsible for designing and building a car around this engine.

The car must be able to endure the rigorous abuse it goes through during the
competition. SAE also requires strict safety regulations be followed by all teams in
the competition.

The vehicle consists of 9 major sub-systems:- Engine, Chassis, Transmission,

Steering, Suspensions, Tyres, Brakes, Electricals and Safety.
Students are free to choose and design the rest of their sub-systems except for the
engine provided by LOMBARDINI Pvt. Ltd.
Structure of the Competition:

The structure of this competition consists of five stages:

 DESIGN:- In this phase students are required to design and create a virtual
model.
 QUALIFYING:- In this stage students present their design to a panel of
industrial experts who are responsible to select deserving top eighty teams
out of the 360-400 teams across India who apply for the event.
 MANUFACTURING:- Students are supposed to build the vehicle as
designed.
 TESTING & VALIDATION:-The students test and run their vehicle which
is validated by a validation inspector appointed by the organisers.
 RACING:-This is a weeklong affair scheduled from 25th January to 2nd
February during which the competition (main event) is hosted at Pithampur.

SOULREAPERS RACING:-

Soulreapers Racing is going to participate in BAJA SAE INDIA for the third
consecutive year.
This year as the competition has gained a lot of popularity over the past two years,
the organisers had conducted a preliminary design round to ensure that only
deserving engineering colleges were selected.

About 324 engineering colleges all over INDIA had applied for the design
challenge out of which only 80 teams were selected. The team has qualified for the
main event and is very much excited as it starts its manufacturing.
The team this year is preparing itself for making a faster and sturdier vehicle than
