INTRODUCTION

The study titled “A STUDY ON EMPLOYEE SATISFACTION ON WITH


REFERENCE TO STEEL AND INDUSTRIAL FORGINGS LTD” is done
for the purpose of analyzing the employee’s opinion about their job,level of
satisfaction & working conditions. Steel and Industrial Forgings Limited is
engaged in manufacture of intricate industrial forgings. Recently the
company has observed that its growth plans and expansion strategies are
getting delayed. The purpose of this survey is to check the satisfaction level
of employees in the company. For success of any industry employee
satisfaction is a key factor. Employee satisfaction surveys provide the
information needed to improve level of productivity, job satisfaction, and
loyalty. Organizations can identify the root causes of job issues and create
solutions for improvements with an accurate perspective of employee views.
Satisfaction levels will increase when employees know that their issues are
being addressed.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The study intends to assess the day-to-day activities of


steel&industrial forgings Ltd and the employee satisfaction of the company.
Employee satisfaction is the mental feeling of favorableness, which an
individual has about his job. It can be the positive feelings or attitude that
individuals have towards their job. Employee satisfaction is necessary for
the better functioning of the company. The company must ensure the
satisfaction of personnel in every department.
OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

 To identify the level of employee’s satisfaction prevailing in the


company
 To study the performance appraisal system of the company.
 To study the reward system of the company.
 To study the promotion policy of the company.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY


Human resources are the most important factor in an organization.
Human resource means those people who are giving their effort and time for
the development of the organization. That’s why any type of dissatisfaction
on the part of the workers or employees of a firm can prove disastrous to its
growth. On the other hand, id the welfare of the employees goes with the
growth of the organization, the company may have a unique story of success
with the backing of the knowledge and skill of a group of a dedicated
worker.
RESEARCH DESIGN
A research design is the logical and systematic planning in directing the
research.It is not a highly specific plan to be followed without deviations but
rather a service of guide posts to keep one headed in the right direction. It is
a tentative strategy of research process, which is most likely to be modified
by new aspects of new conditions and new interrelations between variables,
as if progress.The research is based on Questionnaire method of survey as
well as interview. The questionnaire is distributed among the employees of
the company and the interview is conducted among office staffs.
RESEARCH APPROACH

As the study is on employee satisfaction here we adopt the descriptive


approach to analyze the issue.The researchers have used descriptive type of
research design. Descriptive research studies are those studies which are
concerned with describing the characteristics of a particular individual or of
a group. Studies concerned with specific predictions, with narration of facts
and characteristics concerning individual groups or situations are all
examples of descriptive research studies. Most of social research comes
under this category.

SOURCE OF DATA

Primary data: - The primary data was collected by my own observation,


questionnaire, interview/discussion with the department head and employees
in the company.A questionnaire was developed for analyzing the job
satisfaction of the employees. The questionnaire consists of a list of
questions . each question have three despondence (satisfied, partially
satisfied, and not satisfied). . If more than 50% were satisfied about a
particular aspect. It was considered as majority satisfied
Secondary data: - The secondary data was collected from the internal
records, which are already available in the company. It is also collected from
company’s records,manuals books, Journals, magazines, and website etc.

SAMPLING TECHNIQUE

The samples are selected through Random sampling. In the random


sampling the samples are collected randomly. The sample survey includes
office employees and the workers selected form different department. The
merit of this method is its simplicity, convenience, and economy.
SAMPLE SIZE

Since it is not easy to sample the entire population, the sample size of the
study is limited to 60 respondents, which consist of both male and female
from the various departments in the company.

SAMPLE AREA

Sample Area is location of company in Thrissur, Kerala.

TOOLS FOR DATA COLLECTION

 Questionnaire.
 Discussion.
 Observation

LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

1. The research will be conducted with in limited period of time so


detailed and comprehensive study could not be made.

2. Data are collected through sampling technique; hence the study is


limited to a limited number of employees and could not cover all the
employees.

3. Shortages in primary data employee in the company were not willing


to give more data due to security problem

4. Chances of bias.
