Unit 3 Biology Webquest/Book quest

Photosynthesis 1-8

Directions: Using the links provided and your text, completely answer the following:
You may type in or write-in your answers. If you choose to write in, re-format your
sheet to provide space for answers.

Textbook: pp. 213-214

8. Trace the path of energy and its transformation from the sun to glucose
in photosynthesis including the role of ATP.

Textbook: Ch. 8 p. 216: fill in the flow chart to arrive at your answer.
Answer the following in your composition book or on this sheet. If you are
writing in answers on this sheet, be sure and format your copy so you have
plenty of room.

9. Describe the three main components in adenosine triphosphate (ATP)

and adenosine diphosphate (ADP)
Textbook; pp. 202-203
Complete the activity below and sketch the reaction

10. Explain how the addition and removal of a phosphate group in ATP allows
for energy to be stored and released, as needed, for the cell’s work.
pp. 202-203,
View the links below for better understanding. Don’t worry about needing to
know the intermediate molecules.

11. Explain that the energy needed to produce ATP comes from food during
cellular respiration.

7(it won’t be numbered, just scroll down)

12. Give examples of the cell’s work that are dependent on ATP. Look at slide
#5 in the Chapter 8.1 PowerPoint found in the CELLULAR BIOLOGY (You
may still have this open.)

13. Write a balanced equation for cellular respiration and explain how the
equation illustrates conservation of matter.

respiration stressing that internal membranes are the primary site of
reactions.
Textbook: p. 222, 227, 228

16. Identify tissues in the body that require high concentration of

mitochondria due to high energy requirements. Think about the body
functions that require the most energy to function, like studying which brain
cells. List the activities your body performs daily and connect the activities
to the tissue/cells that carry out these functions. Putting this in a table
would make it easy to study.

17. Discuss the role of anaerobic respiration in living things and in human
society.
