International meeting:

“Start Inclusion Young Migrants in the Process of European Integration”

NAYORA– National Assembly of Youth Organizations of Republic of Azerbaijan in collaboration

with the Directorate of Youth and Sport of the Council of Europe and European Youth Foundation
will organize the international meeting for the young migrants aimed at promoting European
integration.

The challenges of young migrants are still the main topic for discussion in European dimension.
NAYORA launched a lot of projects connected with inclusion of youth. However, inclusion of young
migrants is needed to be discussed at an international level. Azerbaijan has got approximately one
million migrants from Nagorno-Karabakh and a lot of refugees from Armenia and Georgia. Young
refugees and asylum seekers fled from Georgia over the conflict between Georgia and Russia in
South Ossetia in 2008. The most migrants in Azerbaijan are young people. Migrants of Azerbaijan
need to be included in society and actively participate in the process of European integration in
cooperation with young people from other countries of Europe. A lot of young refugees from
Nagorno-Karabakh are disabled. The main problem facing young migrants in Azerbaijan is social
exclusion. Considering the reality mentioned above, NAYORA is intending to organize international
meeting for young refugees from Georgia and Armenia and young migrants from Nagorno-Karabakh
region with young people from European countries to discuss and exchange views on the inclusion of
young migrants in the process of European integration. The idea of the project is based on promoting
inclusion of young migrants in the process of European integration, to actively involve and integrate
them into the civil society initiatives, to create a condition for young migrants to come together, set a
contacts among local migrants and young people from other European countries, to exchange of
experience and information. Young participants of the meeting will discuss the ways of facilitating
the access of young migrants to the social rights. Migrants of Azerbaijan will learn the role of
migrants in the society of European countries. In international meeting participants will discuss
participation of young migrants in conflict resolution and peace building. International meeting will
step up cooperation between migrants and European youth to build peaceful future. International
youth work will promote an intergenerational dialogue as well. Migrants of Azerbaijan are capable
and ready to make changes in community they live. But it is very important to bring them together in
an international meeting, where they will have a chance to exchange of experience, raise their
concerns and discuss their role in promoting social inclusion and European integration. The local
participants will be recruited from regions of Azerbaijan: Lankaran, Ganja, Sheki, Quba, Fuzzily,
Barda which have a lot of young refugees, migrants and asylum seekers from Nagorno-Karabakh,
Georgia and Armenia. Internationally participants will be young people from European countries with
the NGO and youth work background who will share with local participants how young migrants are
functioning in Europe to promote the role of migrants and their active participation.
