Revelation of Hope

Revelation’s Final Judgment

Suppose you take ten pennies and mark them “1” through
“10.” Then you place them in your pocket and shake them
up.

Now try to pull them out in sequence from one to ten, 3

returning each coin back in your pocket after each draw.

Your chance of coming up with the number “1” is one in ten.

Drawing number “1” and then number “2” in succession has

odds of one in one hundred.

And your chance of pulling out “1”, “2” and “3” in succession is
one in one thousand.

Revelation of Hope North American English 1

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
Now consider this: your chance of getting one through 10 in
succession would reach the unbelievable figure of one
chance in 10 billion.
The odds of drawing the correct order are staggering. 7

But what about the possibility of predicting with uncanny

accuracy dates in the life of Jesus?

What if the Bible actually foretold the time of His baptism, His
death, and when the gospel would go to the Gentiles?
More amazingly still, what if it formed part of a longer time
prophecy predicting when the end-time would begin? 9

And what if it actually revealed the opening of God’s great

final judgment? This is much more important than counting
pennies.

It has eternal consequences at stake. 10

The prophecies of the books of Daniel and Revelation blend

to share incredible details regarding the timeline of history.
They reveal events relating to Jesus’ arrival the first time and
what will happen before His second coming.
11

Revelation describes details about the judgment.

Daniel predicts when and where.

12

Revelation 14:7
“Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His
judgment has come . . .”
13

Revelation of Hope North American English 2

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
Now notice, the Bible says “Fear God.”
We studied the other evening that to fear God means to obey
God or respect God and give glory to Him.
Give glory to Him in your lifestyle.

Here is a call for holiness. Here is a call for surrender.

Here is a call for obedience to God.
And the Bible says, the hour of His judgment—
Next two words— What are they everybody?
“Has come.”

So it doesn’t say God’s judgment WILL come, but according

to Revelation an angel flies in mid-Heaven and that angel
announces to every nation, kindred, tongue and people—
the hour of God’s judgment has come.
The clock has struck the hour.

This world has entered into a significant time just before the
coming of Jesus. 14

If that is true, if Revelation’s prophesies are true, if God’s

Supreme Court which determines our eternal destiny is in
session—
What is the significance to you and to me?

15

When Jesus returns, the rewards He will give to each person

will be with Him.

16

Revelation of Hope North American English 3

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
Revelation 22:12
“. . . My reward is with Me, to give to every one according
to his work.”
17
The Master clarified this point for His own disciples in:
Matthew 16:27
“For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father
with His angels, and then He will reward each according
to his works.” 18

Revelation 20:12
“And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before
God, and books were opened. And another book was
opened, which is the Book of Life.
19

And the dead were judged according to their works, by

the things which were written in the books.”
One thing is obvious when you read this passage—
God’s judgment is enormously fair, it is incredibly fair. 20

Because here is something the Bible calls books and those

books are opened before the whole universe.
Millenniums ago in Heaven, angels rebelled against God.
God had given these angels the power of choice.
They challenged the authority and government of God.
Lucifer said, “God is unfair; God is unjust; God is a vindictive 21
tyrant; God is a wrathful judge.”
That rebellion in Heaven introduced a question into the whole
universe—a question about fairness, a question about God’s
character, a question about God’s integrity.
So this judgment that Revelation describes is not because 22
God does not know who’s saved or lost.

Revelation of Hope North American English 4

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
God is so fair and God is so just that He opens the records of
human lives before the whole universe so all can see that
everybody who is lost is lost because of their own decisions.
They are lost because of their own choices. They are not lost 23
because God made an arbitrary choice to save some and
destroy others.
So here in Revelation, in the final judgment just before Jesus
comes, is this cosmic conflict between good and evil.
It is waging in the universe between Christ and Satan.
24

The major theme of the book of Revelation is a conflict

between Christ and Satan.
And in this cosmic conflict between Christ and Satan,
the judgment reveals the truth. 25

And in the drama of destiny in the eternal courtroom of the

universe with thousands looking in, thousands of cherubim
and seraphim, eternal heavenly angels that God has made to
live forever, the books are opened.
26
Before the entire universe God reveals that He has done
everything He could to save every human being.
I can relate to a God like that, can’t you?
I can worship a God like that.
And Satan is exposed as a liar because—
God reveals in the judgment that He has done everything
He can to save and Satan has done everything he can to
destroy.
Anybody that is lost is lost not because God pointed His finger 27
and said, “You’re lost.”
They’re lost because of their decisions and their choices.
They are lost because they rejected His grace.

Revelation of Hope North American English 5

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
Where does this judgment take place?

The book of Revelation contains vivid scenes of the hour of

God’s judgment.
28

But to discover where and when the judgment begins we

must turn back to the prophetic book of Daniel.
The prophecies of Daniel contain amazing predictions about
where the judgment would take place and when. 29

Daniel unlocks several mysteries in Revelation.

God intended for us to study these two books together.
In the seventh chapter of Daniel, the prophet describes a
vision that he had and he says that he looked up into Heaven.

Daniel writes these incredible words.

30

Daniel 7:9, 10

“I watched till thrones were put in place, and the Ancient

of Days was seated; His garment was white as snow,
31

and the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne
was a fiery flame, its wheels a burning fire;

32

A thousand thousands ministered to Him; ten thousand

times ten thousand stood before Him.

33

Revelation of Hope North American English 6

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
The court was seated, and the books were opened.”

Who are these 10,000 x 10,000? Who are they?

Angelic beings, cherubim and seraphim.
34

This is a great scene of glory. It’s a great scene of majesty.

It’s a great scene of splendor.
It’s a scene that takes place not on earth but in Heaven.
It’s a scene that takes place at the very throne of God. 35

The court was seated.

It gives you the impression of Supreme Court justices.
The New King James says the court was seated.
The King James Version of the Bible says the judgment was
set and the books were open.
How fair is God?
God says to all the angels,
God says to 10,000 x 10,000 angelic beings,
before I come again to give out my rewards;
before I come again to pronounce men and women lost
or saved;
before I come again to raise the righteous dead;
before I come again to destroy the wicked;
before all of that, look at my fairness; look at my goodness.

The books are open for you to see.

I sent my Holy Spirit to that man’s mind; I impressed that
woman. I wrapped my arms of love around them.
I tried to save them. I did everything I could.
Could I have done anything more? 36

Then the entire universe falls at His feet and worships Him.
And says “Worthy, worthy is the Lamb to be slain, to receive
honor and glory and power.”

Revelation of Hope North American English 7

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
You did everything you could Lord to save them.
The only reason they are not saved is because of their own
choices.
You see ladies and gentlemen, the judgment is not because 37
God doesn’t know, because God knows everything.
The judgment is not for God to find out who’s saved and
who’s lost because God already knows that.

But the judgment is to reveal God’s character of love before

the whole universe so that a million years from now, a trillion
years from now, in all eternity, we will never have a doubt
about the character of God.

We will never have a doubt about the justice of God.

We will never doubt the love of God.
Since God is so fair, if we don’t see a husband or a wife or a
sister or brother or loved one in Heaven, God’s record books
reveal the reasons why.
The whole universe will see that God did everything He could 38
to save them and one day we will fully understand that they
would not be happy in heaven anyway.
When we get to heaven God will reveal why some were
saved and some were lost.
But, you may have a question, “When does this judgment
take place?”
Could it be that Heaven’s court is now in session?
Could it be that the records of those who have died in ages 39
past are currently coming up in judgment before God?
Could it be that when Christ descends the judgment has
already taken place and those that are resurrected and
caught up to meet Christ in the air have been declared in the
judgment righteous through Jesus.
They’ve been saved by the blood of the Lamb. 40

Revelation of Hope North American English 8

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
Could it be that those who are destroyed by the brightness of
Christ’s coming, those who are ultimately and eternally lost,
have had their fate decided by their own choices as revealed
in the judgment?
I wonder could it be that we are living right now in the
judgment hour.
Could it be that the angel is recording right now that some
have been lost and some saved that have died in ages past? 41
I wonder.

What does Daniel say?

Well, you look all the way through Daniel 7 about this
judgment going on before God’s throne, this judgment in
God’s sanctuary and it doesn’t tell you when it begins or when
it ends.
There is no time period mentioned in Daniel 7.

But, when you come to the eighth chapter of the Book of

Daniel and the fourteenth verse, you read about Heaven’s
sanctuary. You read something amazing, something
incredible.
Let’s read it together—
Daniel 8:14
“For two thousand three hundred days; then the
sanctuary shall be cleansed.”
Now, there are two things here. 42
First a time period. What’s the time period?
Two thousand three hundred days.

What’s the event?

43

Revelation of Hope North American English 9

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
Then the sanctuary shall be cleansed.
This term “the sanctuary shall be cleansed,” may be a little
difficult for us to understand.
44
It was not difficult at all for Daniel to understand because
Daniel was a Jew and lived in the days of the Old Testament
Sanctuary.
What does the cleansing of the sanctuary mean?

Let’s go back to the Old Testament sanctuary and find out

what this cleansing of the sanctuary meant to the Jews that
lived in the Old Testament. 45

Then let’s see if it means anything at all to us today.

Let’s look at the Old Testament temple and the New
Testament temple.
You will remember God said to Moses in—
Exodus 25:8,

“Let them make Me a sanctuary that I might dwell among

them.”
46

When a person sinned in the Old Testament it was necessary

for them to bring a sacrifice to the sanctuary.
Often they brought a lamb. You remember that don’t you?
They brought the animal to the sanctuary to be slain. 47

The Old Testament sacrifices pointed forward to Jesus'

sacrifice.

48

Revelation of Hope North American English 10

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
Israel camped around the sanctuary.

49

The sanctuary was divided into two parts.

The outer court and a tent-like structure called the tabernacle.

In that outer court there was an altar of burnt offering.

50

The tent-like structure was divided into two parts:

•The Holy Place
•The Most Holy Place

51

When somebody sinned they brought a lamb sacrifice.

52

Let’s suppose a man got angry with his wife and began yelling
at her.
Let’s suppose that he was so cruel and barbaric as to actually
slap her.
53

The next morning he awakens and is sorry.

His eyes are filled with tears.
He recognizes that what he’s done is sin.
He goes to his wife and says, “I’m sorry I slapped you last 54
night. It was a terrible thing for me to do.”
But that’s not enough.
You see the Bible teaches that the wages of sin are death.

Revelation of Hope North American English 11

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
If that man was living in the Old Testament he would get a
lamb and bring that lamb to the sanctuary.

The lamb must be a lamb without spot and without blemish.

55

He would confess his sin over the head of the lamb.

56

The sinners guilt was symbolically transferred to the

perfect lamb.

The wages of sin are death. The lamb must die.

57

The perfect lamb was slain and its blood caught in a

basin.

58

The lamb’s body would be put on the altar in the court.

Now what did all of this represent?

59

The Old Testament sacrifices pointed forward to whom?

To Jesus Christ.

Only the blood of Christ can take away our sins.

All of the animal sacrifices in the world cannot atone for one 60

sin.

So it was Jesus, the perfect Lamb, which would come. Jesus,

the perfect lamb, would have the nails driven through his
hands. Jesus, the perfect lamb, would pardon us.

Revelation of Hope North American English 12

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
After the animal was slain, the priest would leave the court
and take the blood into the sanctuary.

The priest would bring the blood of the sacrifice before the
veil that separated the first and second apartment in the 61

sanctuary and sprinkle it there.

What did that represent?

Jesus Christ died on the cross but after His death He was
resurrected and ascended to Heaven.

62

There, before the law of God that we have broken,

Jesus as our priest says “this man is one of mine.”
Jesus is the lamb that died for us and Jesus is the priest who
lives for us. 63

Jesus is the lamb that shed His blood and Jesus is the priest
in Heaven’s sanctuary that says,
“This man is one of mine, I pardon him, I forgive him.”
Jesus offers the merits of His blood in heaven on our
behalf.

64

Once a year, the high priest entered into the Most Holy Place
of the earthly sanctuary.
Once a year he entered in before the ark of God in that
earthly tent.
65
There was the Shikinah glory representing the presence of
God.
There were the angels representing the angelic beings
around God’s throne.

Revelation of Hope North American English 13

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
There was the Ark of the Covenant with the Ten
Commandment Law in the earthly sanctuary representing
God’s throne.
When the high priest went into the sanctuary once a year it
was called the Day of Atonement
The word atonement means, “at–one–ment.”
It was a day of judgment. It was also called the day of the 66
cleansing of the sanctuary.
For 10 days before, trumpets blew warning the people when
to prepare.

67

On this most important day of the Jewish year, (called Yom

Kippur today), the High Priest went into the most sacred part
of the temple, before the Ark of the Covenant which
represented the throne of God.
68

It was called the Day of Atonement.

It was called the Day of Judgment.
It was known as the day of the cleansing of the sanctuary.
Every Israelite had to examine their heart.
They knelt there and they said, “God wash me clean.

God I give up my evil temper.

God I give up my bitterness. 69

I give up my lust. I give up my jealousy.”

Every Israelite that did not participate was cut off from the
camp of Israel. They were judged. They were separated.

The cleansing of the sanctuary in the Old Testament

illustrated something that would happen before Christ’s
coming.

Revelation of Hope North American English 14

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
While the daily sacrifices depicted the sacrifice of Christ, the
cleansing of the sanctuary occurred once yearly and pointed
forward to something else.
The prophecy of Daniel 8:14 says, 70

And he said to me, “For two thousand three hundred days;

then the sanctuary shall be cleansed.”
This refers to a judgment that takes place before the end of
earth’s history. 71

The earthly ceremonies described in Leviticus 16 are

shadows of God’s judgment in the heavenly sanctuary that
will occur just before Jesus comes again.

72

After this mysterious time period of 2300 days, prophecy

predicts a cosmic judgment will take place.
God will sit on His judgment throne.
Everyone who has ever lived or is alive will be judged.
73

This prophecy is not about what happened or is going to

happen to an earthly temple in Jerusalem.

It is not what the anti-Christ does in Jerusalem; it is what the

anti-Christ has done to God’s law in heaven. 74

It is about a great controversy over obedience and loyalty.

It is a call of God to have the heart temple cleansed because

Jesus is in Heaven; there in His final work of judgment.
75

The cleansing of the sanctuary in the Old Testament was

a symbol of the final work of Judgment prior to Christ’s
second coming.

76

Revelation of Hope North American English 15

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
What is the meaning of these 2300 days?
And, how could 2300 days from Daniel’s day ever take us
down to the end of time? How could that happen?
“I don’t understand,” somebody says.
77

Well, Daniel didn’t understand either so Gabriel came down to

earth to explain this prophecy.
I want to listen to the angel Gabriel’s explanation, don’t you?
Daniel 8:16, 17

“‘Gabriel, make this man understand the vision.’

78

So he came near where I stood, and when he came I was

afraid and fell on my face; but he said to me,

79

‘Understand, son of man, that the vision refers to the time

of the end.’”

These 2300 days are speaking about the end time.

What did the Angel Gabriel say? 80

He tells us three things about the vision.

81

First, the vision would speak about the end of time or the
time of the end.

82

Revelation of Hope North American English 16

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
Secondly, he said that the vision would speak not about an
earthly temple but about a heavenly sanctuary where God’s
throne is set.

83

Thirdly, he said that this time period is not a literal time period
but a symbolic time period.
What do you mean?
The prophecy foretells a time period of 2300 days. 84

How many days in a year? 365.

So if these 2300 days are literal that’s only about six years.
So they can’t be literal because six years from Daniel’s day
doesn’t take us down to the time of the end.
These time prophesies always begin where the prophet is.
Ezekiel who was a contemporary of Daniel gives you a clue.
Ezekiel 4:6, “I have laid on you a day for each year.”
In Bible prophecy a day represents a year; now that’s not
every time you read the word “day” in the Bible.
When you read “a day” in the Bible it is a day, 24 hours. 85

But we recognize that Bible prophecy definitely uses symbols

to represent things.
For example, if you’re studying Daniel or Revelation and you
read about beasts coming up out of sea, are those literal
beasts?
No. They’re obviously symbolic. 86
They represent kings or kingdoms.
Revelation portrays Jesus riding on a white horse through
heaven, is that literal? No. It’s symbolic.
It represents Christ as the mighty conqueror.

So, when we read about a titanic conflict between Christ and 87

Satan, and a cosmic cleansing of the sanctuary—

Revelation of Hope North American English 17
9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
And it says something about 2300 days, are they literal or
symbolic?
Is it some short period of about 6 years and a few months that
took place a long time ago and doesn’t mean anything today? 88

Or, is it describing nearly two and half millennia of the history

of God’s people and the vital role Christ plays in our
salvation?
We are studying prophecy and prophecy uses symbols, and
one prophetic day equals one literal year. (Ezekiel 4:6)

Now the prophecy makes much more sense.

The picture becomes clearer. 89

The prophecy of Daniel 8 of 2300 prophetic days equals

2300 literal years.
If the Bible gives us the starting point for the 2300 years then
we could easily calculate the ending point.
And thus we could actually discover when this cosmic
judgment began. 90

Is Jesus, tonight, in that inner most sanctum of heaven’s

sanctuary?
Is the call of the judgment hour a call to commitment, a call to
surrender, a call to allow Christ, through His blood, to cleanse
our hearts? 91

Could we be living in that special unique time of earth’s

history?
This prophecy in the Book of Daniel is significant because
God ties this prophecy about Jesus’ second coming with an
incredible prophecy about His first coming.
We can measure events that Daniel predicted would happen 92
along this 2300 year timeline.
We can see the fulfillment of predictions centuries ago.

Revelation of Hope North American English 18

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
This prophecy predicted the exact date of Christ’s baptism.

93

The exact date for Christ’s crucifixion.

94

The exact date for the gospel to go to the gentiles as the

Jewish leaders rejected Christianity.

95

It predicts the exact date when the clock struck the hour and
we would be in the judgment hour.
Let’s look at this 2300 day (or year) prophecy.
The Bible begins it with these words— 96

Daniel 9:24

“Seventy weeks are determined for your people and for

your holy city.”
97

What was Daniel’s city? Jerusalem.

The first 70 weeks of this prophecy are determined for
Daniel’s people, the Jews.
The Old Testament was written in the Hebrew language.
98

Another word for determined is the Hebrew word which

means amputated or cut off.
So 70 weeks of this prophecy, Daniel, is cut off.
Cut off from what? The 2300 days.
So the first 70 weeks apply to Daniel’s people. 99

Revelation of Hope North American English 19

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
How many days are there in a week?

100

Seven.

Ok, since these are 70 prophetic weeks, how many days is

that?
101

Seven times 70 or 490 days.

102

These symbolic “days” in prophecy are actually 490 real,

literal years.

103

If one day equals one year this time period represents 490
years cut off from the 2300 years.

The first 490 years especially relate to the first coming of

Jesus. Jesus came to His own people, the Jews, and invited 104

them to accept Him as their Messiah and take the Gospel to

the rest of the world.
But they received Him not.

So the first 490 Years of the prophecy are about Jesus and
the Jews.

Now you may wonder, “How in the world do you know that the
‘day/year’ principle applies? How do you know it works?”

Revelation of Hope North American English 20

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
Somebody said, “if the shoe fits wear it.”

If we can take the day/year principle, apply it here and if every

event comes out right on time, you know that’s a valid
principle for this prophecy. 105

This prophecy is so amazing that many intellectuals and

agnostics have come to faith. They have been amazed at its
precision and accuracy.

Its exact details leave nothing to guess work. 106

They are the product of a divine mind.

When does this prophecy start?

If we don’t know when it starts we have no way of calculating

when the prophecy ends.
Let’s find out. The angel tells Daniel when it starts. 107

Daniel 9:25
“Know therefore and understand, that from the going
forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem…”
Now what is the event? The event is a command to do what? 108

Restore and build Jerusalem. Now follow me closely.

In Daniel’s day Jerusalem was destroyed, it was in ruins.
The Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar had attacked
Jerusalem and overthrew it.
So the angel Gabriel comes down and says to Daniel. 109

“There is a prophecy of 2300 years, the first part of this

prophecy is 490 years and it applies to your people the Jews.
Daniel you’ll know the whole prophecy starts with a command
to restore and rebuild Jerusalem.”
110

Revelation of Hope North American English 21

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
Would that be significant for Daniel? It sure would.
Daniel was in captivity to the Babylonians.
The Medes and Persians had just recently overthrown the
Babylonians.
111
The angel says, “Daniel when there is a decree passed that
the Jews can leave captivity and go home and rebuild
Jerusalem, this whole prophecy starts.”
The angel says to Daniel—
Daniel 9:25

“Know therefore and understand, that from the going

forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem…
112

until Messiah the Prince, there shall be seven weeks and

sixty-two weeks.”

Who is Messiah the Prince? Jesus!

Daniel gets excited now! 113

He wonders, “Are you saying that when I see that command

passed, when the King writes that decree,
from that time until the Messiah, is 69 prophetic weeks,
Gabriel?”
114
And Gabriel says, “Daniel, that’s exactly what I said.”
When does this prophecy begin?
From the command to restore and build Jerusalem.
When did that decree go forth?
According to Ezra 7, the decree was given in 457 BC.
Now there were two decrees given before that. But none of
those decrees provided the Israelites with national identity.
So the 2300 day prophecy is in two parts:
490 years for the Jews,
1810 years for the gentiles.

Revelation of Hope North American English 22

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
115
It starts with a command to rebuild Jerusalem and we can
date that decree to: 457 BC.
In that year Artaxerxes passed the decree that begins the
whole prophecy.
The Angel Gabriel declares, “Know and understand,”
Daniel. From 457 BC (the decree to restore and build
Jerusalem) “until Messiah the Prince, there shall be seven
weeks and sixty-two weeks.”
116

We can then begin tracing this first 490 year time period
because we know the anchor date.
And the anchor date is what date? 457 BC when the decree
went forth to restore and build Jerusalem. 117

If the 490 years are cut-off of the 2300 year prophecy, then
they both start in 457 BC.
But can we be sure this is the right date?
What I am about to show you will prove beyond a shadow of a
doubt that this indeed is the correct date.
Are you ready? OK Let’s go—

The angel Gabriel tells Daniel, from the start of the decree
(which was when? 457 BC) until—
until Messiah the prince (Who’s that?—Jesus Christ)
there shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks.

118

What does the word Messiah mean?

119

Revelation of Hope North American English 23

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
The word Messiah means “The Anointed One.”
Was Jesus ever anointed? When?

Jesus was anointed at His baptism.

Acts 10 says that when He went into the water to be baptized 120

He was anointed by the Holy Spirit.

Therefore, from the commandment to restore and build

Jerusalem, predicted by the angel Gabriel that occurred in
457 BC, it would be 69 prophetic weeks until the baptism of
Jesus.
The decree went forth in the fall.
If you go 69 prophetic weeks forward, on the timeline of
history from the fall of 457, it should take you to the baptism
of Christ.
121

Now, how many days are there in a week? Seven

We’re going 69 weeks forward from 457 BC.
So we need to find out how much that is.
69 x 7 = 483 prophetic days—
122

Or as we have shown, 483 literal years.

123

If we begin at 457 BC and proceed 483 years forward, this

should take us to the baptism of the Messiah.

So I begin going along this 490 year period, 483 years from
457 BC. 124

Revelation of Hope North American English 24

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
483 years forward takes me to exactly AD 27.

125

Now, if you go home and plug these dates into your

calculator, you will probably come up with AD 26.

126

But when historians started to use the BC/AD calendar

system, they didn’t have calculators and they didn’t include a
year “0.”

So when going from BC dates to AD dates, you have to 127

add 1 year.
From the decree to restore and build the wall of Jerusalem
until the coming of the Messiah would be 483 years, AD 27.

And here is the absolutely amazing thing, Jesus was baptized

on time. 128

Luke 3:21, records Jesus’ baptism in these words,

“When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that

Jesus also was baptized.” What year was this?
129

Luke 3, verse 1 tells us,

“Now in the 15th year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar.”

The 15th year of Tiberius’ reign was AD 27, the exact year of
Jesus’ baptism predicted by Daniel the prophet. 130

Can there be any doubt that Jesus Christ is the Messiah?

Daniel predicted the exact date of His baptism before Jesus
was ever born.

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
The Bible tell us to “…know therefore and understand…”
God says know it, God says understand it.

The Bible is not some intellectual nonsense for people who

can’t think or reason.
The Bible is mathematically accurate.
It says, know therefore and understand from the decree to
restore Jerusalem.
When did that go forward? Everybody tell me please.

457 BC from that time, 483 years forward would take us to 131

AD 27, the fall, the exact date of Christ’s baptism.

Then the Bible says—
Daniel 9:26
“And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off . . .”
What does it mean that sometime after Christ’s baptism that
He would be cut off? 132

Crucified. That’s right.

When would He be crucified? It tells you exactly.
Daniel 9:27

“Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one

week . . .”
133

69 weeks or 483 literal years from 457 BC takes you to

what? AD 27.
Of the 490 years there are 7 years or 1 week left. 69 weeks
to AD 27. 70 weeks go to the Jews. So it says, He’ll confirm 134
the covenant with many for 1 week.
Now, many are confused about when this 70th week begins
and think it is sometime way in the future.

Revelation of Hope North American English 26

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
Let me ask you a simple question.
What number comes after 69?—70.
So if you have 69 weeks, when does the 70th week begin?
After the 69 weeks.
So taking it just as Gabriel gave it, we start the 70th week
immediately after the 69th week in AD 27, not some futuristic
date 2000 years later. But does this work?
Look at this. It is incredible.
“Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one
week;

135

but in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to

sacrifice and offering.”
Never again would a lamb sacrifice have to be offered
because He, Christ, shall being an end to the sacrifice and 136
offerings in an earthly temple when He, the Lamb of God was
offered on the cross.
Praise God! And it happened exactly on time.
The decree goes forth in the fall of 457, 69 weeks, 483 years
takes me to the fall of AD 27.

137

The middle of one prophetic week is 3½ prophetic days or 3½

literal years.
Starting at our proposed start of the 70th week in AD 27 and
adding 3 years and six months from the fall of AD 27–
138

Revelation of Hope North American English 27

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
Takes us to the spring of AD 31, precisely on the feast of the
Passover when Christ was crucified.

So it works. But understanding Christ’s work and mission

helps us understand even better how well this works. 139

Daniel 9 is about Jesus Christ our Messiah.

“Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week.”
Daniel 9:27

Some are confused about who this verse is talking about, and 140

some even think it applies to the anti-christ. They conclude

that the anti-christ must make a covenant with the Jews and
causes the Jews who have rebuilt their temple to cease their
sacrifices.

The Bible never says the anti-christ makes a covenant with

anybody. But scripture records that Jesus, our Messiah, said
in Matthew 26, verse 28—
“For this is My blood of the new covenant which is shed
for many for the remission of sins.”
Jesus Christ is the Lord of the covenant. Jesus confirms that
covenant with His shed blood. He ratifies that covenant on 141
the cross.
Isn’t it just like the devil to take a precious prophecy speaking
of Jesus’ cleansing blood and distort it and try to make it
apply to himself?
But if we understand Christ’s work and mission, we are
convinced that our day for a year prophecy starting at 457 BC
and taking us to AD 31 shows that—
Christ was crucified exactly on time.

This prophecy in the Book of Daniel is so amazing.

Christ is the Messiah. He was crucified exactly on time.
142

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
That’s why Galatians 4:4 says,

“But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent
forth His Son . . ."
143

And Jesus said in Mark 1:15,

“The time is fulfilled”.

144

Romans 5:6 says,

“. . . in due time (at the right time) Christ died for the
ungodly.”

Jesus confirmed the covenant He made from the beginning of 145

time with His blood.

The high priest lifts his knife to slay the sacrificial lamb.
The knife trembles in his hand—at that moment the curtain of
the sanctuary rips from top to bottom.

Never again would we look to an earthly temple. 146

Jesus Christ had died on the cross.

Jesus Christ shed His blood.
Never again would the blood of bulls and goats be recognized
by God as having any value.
Christ was baptized on time. He is the Messiah.
Christ was crucified on time. He is the Messiah.

147

Christ would die, He would be resurrected, and He would

ascend as our High Priest.

We don’t need to look now to an earthly temple because our

Jesus is in a Heavenly temple. 148

Revelation of Hope North American English 29

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
Can you say Amen?
Christ is in a temple in Heaven. Praise God!
Our eyes aren’t fixed on Jerusalem.
Our eyes aren’t fixed on some earthly struggle in the Holy
City.

Our eyes are fixed on a cosmic conflict between good and

evil.
Our eyes are fixed on a titanic struggle between God and Satan.
Jesus was crucified in AD 31 in the spring, exactly like the
Bible said. But He still does not reject that nation.

For 3½ more years He reaches out in mercy, He reaches out

in love. 149

Jesus does not turn His back on us when we turn our back on
Him. Jesus does not forsake us when we forsake Him.
In AD 34 Stephen, one of the first deacons in the Christian
church, spoke up and gave a magnificent speech on how
Jesus was the Messiah of the Old Testament.

150

Jewish leaders angrily stoned Stephen.

It started a terrible persecution that scattered the early

believers and opened the door to the preaching of the Gospel to
the gentiles. 151

AD 34 marks three things:

1. Stephen’s speech that Christ was the Messiah.

2. The Jewish High Priest rejecting Stephen’s reasoning that
Jesus was the Messiah.
3. The gospel going to the Gentiles.

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
Does the 490 year prophecy fit the life of Jesus Christ the
Messiah?
Does the day for a year application work for this prophecy?
Now back to where we started.
152

What did Daniel’s prophecy say?

It said, Seventy weeks are cut off from the 2300 years.
But what about the rest of the time?

153

Remember, there are two parts to the prophecy.

Part #1: 490 years runs out in AD 34, and describes the first
coming of Jesus.
154

Part #2: The remainder of the 2300 years.

The 2300 years begin in 457.

The first 490 years end in AD 34.
155

The part that is left– 1810 years.

What’s 1810 years from AD 34?

156

1844.
So the 2300 years from 457 BC takes you down to 1844.
What did the Bible predict would happen at the end of the
2,300 day/year prophecy?
157

Daniel 8:14

“For two thousand three hundred days; then the

sanctuary shall be cleansed.”
158

Revelation of Hope North American English 31

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
The prophecy tells us that the sanctuary would be cleansed,
and the judgment would begin.
That’s the solemn message to consider.
Since 1844 we have been living in God’s judgment hour.
According to this prophecy, we are now living in a unique time
in earth’s history when the destinies of the entire human race 159
are to be settled.
God gave John a vision of the judgment hour in Revelation.
He portrays it as a time when an urgent message proclaimed
by an angel flying swiftly through the sky saying to every
nation under the sky—
160

Revelation 14:7
“Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His
judgment has come . . .”
John says in Revelation, this is a special hour of earth’s 161

history. This is a special time of earth’s history.

This is the call of the judgment hour.
This is a call to give your heart and your mind and your life to God.
This is a call to be cleansed in your heart.
This is a call to say Jesus, I need you!

If we look at our good works, our good deeds, we might think 162

that we have earned a spot in God’s holy heaven.

We aren’t as bad as some other people are.

But how would you feel if you were called to stand before the
judgment seat of God today?
Have you always been kind and loving to your family?
Have you always spoken the truth?
Have you never spoken gossip?

Revelation of Hope North American English 32

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
Never taken something that belonged to someone else?
Never lusted?
Never envied the rich and coveted their luxuries?
Do you have confidence today about how that final
investigation in heaven will decide your case?
In the country of Germany in Europe many years ago a
talented young man named Friedrich Wilhelm Hershel was
drafted into the army.
One night in a terrible battle overwhelmed with terror, he fled 163
the battlefield.
His father sent him to England and he changed his name to
William. He studied astronomy and built a telescope.

164

With that telescope he discovered a new planet and became

famous.

165

The king of England sent for William to appear before him.

But William was afraid.
The king’s grandfather, George I, was the one who ruled
Germany when William had deserted from the army.
166

William was sure that now he would be recognized as a

deserter and sentenced to death.
As he waited to see the king, a servant approached and
presented William with an envelope.

With trembling hands William opened it, expecting to find his

long awaited sentence of death. 167

But instead William found a full and complete pardon.

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
1 John 2:1 and 2 NIV says:

“My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not
sin.
168

But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the

Father in our defense—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.

169

He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for
ours but also for the sins of the whole world.”

When your appointment with the King of the universe comes

on that final day of reckoning, you need not tremble with fear. 170

Christ offers you a full pardon today.

The 2300 day prophecy and the 70 week or 490 year portion
of it are both about Jesus.
One tells us of His work to bring in pardon and forgiveness.
The other tells us of His intercessory work for us in the Most 171

Holy Place of Heaven’s sanctuary.

What is Jesus doing there tonight?
He is securing pardon for you and for me before all the
angels.
He lifts His hands and He says “This man is one of mine, that
woman is one of mine.” 172

He is sending His Spirit to our hearts.

What is Jesus doing now?

He is there in judgment, there where the destinies of the dead
are now being decided, there where the destinies of the entire
human race will soon be decided, Jesus is there interceding
for you and for me.

Revelation of Hope North American English 34

9–Revelation’s Final Judgment
He is the author of our faith—He began a good work in you.
But He is also the finisher of our faith—He is interceding for
you.
His arms are outstretched to you tonight.
Jesus longs to represent you before the throne of God but He
can only represent those cases that are given into His hands.
He can only represent you as you let Him.
Jesus will never say you are one of His if you are not.
He will represent you but He will not lie for you.
If you give your life to Him, you become His child. 173

Will you open your heart to Him tonight and say, “Jesus, I
have a sense tonight, like I never did before, that this is a
special time of earth’s history.
This is a unique time of earth’s history.
We are living in the judgment hour.
Oh God, present my name before the Father.
Oh God, write pardon after my name.
Oh Jesus write forgiveness after my name.
Oh Jesus cleanse my heart.”
He is forever interceding before God’s throne.
Why not bow your head right now and say, “Oh Jesus, before
the throne of God I know I could never pass the judgment on
my own. 174

I know all of my good works would never pass the judgment, I

know I’m a sinner and I deserve to die. But Lord, at God’s
throne, present my name there.”
