Maintenance of over 400 antique-replica street lights and various streetscape improvement
elements throughout the downtown; the direct result of $3.5 million in Federal and State
Department of Transportation grants awarded to Morristown Partnership and Town of Mor-
ristown in past ten years.
Maintenance of 11 landscape sites and “Morristown Welcomes You” signs at key entrance
points to the downtown.
The Morristown Partnership, Morristown Parking Authority and the Trustees of the
Morristown Green fund and oversee the Downtown Watch Patrol (DWP) program.
DWP is a collaborative security initiative created in the summer of 2008 enabling
the Morristown Police Department, on an on-going basis since, to hire, train, and
assign unarmed Class I Special Officers on foot-patrol in the downtown business
district during business hours weekly to improve the perception of security in the
downtown.
Retail Recruitment: To enhance its efforts to recruit new businesses to Morristown, the
Partnership retained the services of DANTH, Associates to develop a comprehensive demo-
graphical analysis of Morristown’s trade area as well as a strategic plan to recruit and retain
existing businesses. An online survey was conducted with input from more than five dozen
residents to help identify purchasing trends and retail categories Morristown needs.
