In 2009 the MP launched its new Gift Certificate “Gift Greenback” promotion in which
an additional $10 MP Gift Certificate was given to anyone that purchased a $50 MP Gift
Certificate: a 20% bonus courtesy of Morristown Partnership. Over $60,000 was generated
in Gift Certificate sales that directly benefitted Morristown’s 150 participation businesses!
From November 1st through December 23rd this year, we are happy to bring back this special
promotion. The Gift Certificate Business Participant List was updated and now includes 174
businesses! Our Gift Certificates have no expiration date and no fees attached. Think Local,

Morristown-area businesses our non-profit organization is able to produce this event
for four weeks bringing breathtaking LED-lighting decorations on the Morristown Green in-
cluding the new 31ft. Poinsettia Tree, and holiday activities including Santa’s Arrival & Light-
ing of the Green Ceremony, weekend visits and Photos with Santa, free miniature Electric
Train Rides, and hands-on activities & entertainment offered by various community groups
in our heated Activity Tent. They have included: the Artist on the Green, Arts Council of the
Morris Area, Calvary Baptist Church Choir, Gallery Egan, Girl Scouts of Northern NJ, Glass-
works Studio, Marty’s Reliable Cycle, Morris Choral Society Chamber Singers, MHS Habitat
for Humanity, Morristown Home School Associations, Morris Museum, The Seeing Eye, Unity
Charter School and more.

To enhance one’s entertainment, dining, shopping, and visiting experience, Morristown
Partnership offers free two-hour on-street parking for almost two weeks! And look for
Lighted Wreaths placed on over 200 antique replica street lights throughout the downtown
during the season. Enjoy!

Ongoing:
Maintenance of over 400 antique-replica street lights and various streetscape improvement
elements throughout the downtown; the direct result of $3.5 million in Federal and State
Department of Transportation grants awarded to Morristown Partnership and Town of Mor-
ristown in past ten years.

Maintenance of 11 landscape sites and “Morristown Welcomes You” signs at key entrance
points to the downtown.

Purchasing*, installation, and maintenance of 100 “Downtown Morristown


Welcomes You” street light banners. *Partial underwriting support for banners
received from our friends at Morris County Tourism Bureau.

The Morristown Partnership, Morristown Parking Authority and the Trustees of the
Morristown Green fund and oversee the Downtown Watch Patrol (DWP) program.
DWP is a collaborative security initiative created in the summer of 2008 enabling
the Morristown Police Department, on an on-going basis since, to hire, train, and
assign unarmed Class I Special Officers on foot-patrol in the downtown business
district during business hours weekly to improve the perception of security in the
downtown.

Retail Recruitment: To enhance its efforts to recruit new businesses to Morristown, the
Partnership retained the services of DANTH, Associates to develop a comprehensive demo-
graphical analysis of Morristown’s trade area as well as a strategic plan to recruit and retain
existing businesses. An online survey was conducted with input from more than five dozen
residents to help identify purchasing trends and retail categories Morristown needs.
