The VEMI presen-

tation team is excited to
take part in this year’s
National Business Plan
Competition. In order to
to win first place as we
did in the citywide competition, it will take a lot of hard work
and preparation. Our team is already getting started on preparing.
We are restructuring the Business Plan and changing the oral and
visual presentations as well.
Finishing in 2nd place the past 2 years, we are extremely
motivated to finally win the National Championship. The team
spends extra time after school to get prepared. We feel that this
is the year that we will win the National Business Plan Competi-
tion for 2011.

Q: How did the two of you get started in the insurance indus-
try?

A: Luz E. Correa: “Well, I’ve spent most of my career in

nonprofit work. Most of my time was spent working
at a health plant. I was always interested in Public Relations
so I submitted a resume to State Farm and two months later,
I got the job.”

A: Carolin L. Irvin: “Although State Farm usually hires

from within, the company offered me a Claim Representative
position and I never looked back since.”

Q: What is State Farm’s main competition?

A: Carolin L. Irvin: “In the field of auto insurance, our main

competitor is Progressive. Geico, All State, and Nationwide
are also large contenders.”
