program. The School Counseling program is competitive and receives more
qualified applicants than there are openings available. Prospective
applicants should have an unders tanding of the changing nature of school
counseling as well as a solid commitment to the profession and an
awareness of such values as multiculturalism, self-reflection, and social
justice. The program seeks to admit students-both educators and others
with some background in working with children-whose experience
demonstrates emotional intelligence, imagination, and leadership qualities.

assess personal characteristics deemed necess ary for successful
performance in the field of school counseling. During the interview,
