WAS THE PROPHET

MOHAMMED NOOR
(LIGHT) FROM ALLAH
OR PART HUMAN &
PART NOOR OR JUST A
HUMAN

BY ABDUL KAREEM IBN

OZZIE
The Sufi Ashari Maturidis argue that the prophet Mohammed was
noor from Allah and part human or full noor (light) from Allah
however this incorrect. Allah has made it clear in the Quran and in
the Sunnah the prophet Mohammed as also made it clear that he was
a full man who was human just like the rest of the sons of Adam.

Allah has made it clear that the prophet is like us (he was a full
human). Allah said, “Say: I (Mohammed) am a man like you
(but) it has been revealed to me that your god is One God.” al-Khaf :
110

Also Allah tell the prophet in the Quran to tell the people he is just a
man sent to them as messenger of Allah, so they may be more
inclined to accepted his message. Allah said, "Say: Glorified be my
Lord! Am I (Mohammed) anything but a man, sent as a
Messenger''..." Al-Israh 17:93
The state of the prophet in his humanity is the same as that of all the
prophets and messengers, he use to eat and die like the other
prophets and messengers this was sign of his humanity being the
same as the other prophet and messengers. He was not part noor and
part human. Allah says, “And We did not create them (the
Messengers, with) bodies that ate not food, nor were they
immortals” [al-Anbiya’ 21:8] plus Allah said “Their Messengers
said to them: We are no more than human beings like you”
Ibraaheem 14:11

The Sufi Ashari Maturidis who argue that prophet Mohammed was
noor from Allah and part human should know that Allah condemned
those who wondered at the humanity of the messenger, as Allah says,
“And they say: Why does this Messenger (Muhammad) eat
food, and walk about in the markets (as we)…?” al-Furqaan
25:8

Even the kuffaar in the time of the prophet Mohammed knew he was
a human as they use to say about the Quran, "this (the Quran) is
nothing but the word of (Mohammed) a human being'' surah
Al Mudassir:25

Another prove that the prophet was a human is that it was essential
that human messengers be sent to mankind, so that they would be
able to address mankind, and so that mankind would be able to learn
from them and understand. If Allah had sent messengers from among
the angels to them, that would not have been possible. Allah said,
“And nothing prevented men from believing when the guidance
came to them, except that they said: ‘Has Allah sent a man
(Mohammed) as (his) Messenger?’ al-Furqaan 25:22

Furthermore Allah makes it clear that when he sent his messenger he

made sure that they are human like the rest of mankind (human).
However Allah makes it clear in his noble book (the Quran) that had
mankind been the angels he would have sent an angel to them instead
of humans. Allah said, “Say: ‘If there were on the earth, angels
walking about in peace and security, we should certainly
have sent down for them from the heaven an angel as a
Messenger’” al-Israh 17:94- 95

Allah tells that all the messengers from Adam to the prophet
Mohammed were human, because those who live on the earth are
human, and the mercy and wisdom of Allah dictated that their
messengers should be of their own kind. Allah said, “Indeed, Allah
conferred a great favour on the believers when He sent among
them a Messenger (Muhammad) from among themselves”
Aal Imraan 3:164

Authentic Hadeeth Proving The Prophet Was Just A

Human

Below are a few authentic hadeeths in which the prophet Mohammed

says from his own mouth that he is a human being.
In Saheeh Bukhari it is reported “The Prophet prayed (and the sub-
narrator Ibrahim said, "I do not know whether he prayed more or
less than usual"), and when he had finished the prayers he was
asked, "O Allah's Apostle! Has there been any change in the
prayers?" He said, "What is it?' The people said, "You have prayed
so much and so much." So the Prophet bent his legs, faced the Qibla
and performed two prostrations’ (of Sahu) and finished his prayers
with Taslim (by turning his face to right and left saying: "As-
Salamu'Alaikum-Warahmat-ullah"). When he turned his face to us
he said, "If there had been anything changed in the prayer, surely I
would have informed you but I am a human being like you and
liable to forget like you. So if I forget remind me and if anyone of
you is doubtful about his prayer, he should follow what he thinks to
be correct and complete his prayer accordingly and finish it and do
two prostrations (of Sahu)."

In Saheeh Bukhari it is reported “The Prophet heard the voices of

some people quarreling near his gate, so he went to them and said,
"I am only a human being and litigants (people involved in a
law dispute) with cases of disputes come to me, and maybe one of
them presents his case eloquently in a more convincing and
impressive way than the other, and I give my verdict in his favor
thinking he is truthful. So if I give a Muslim's right to another (by
mistake), then that (property) is a piece of Fire, which is up to him to
take it or leave it."

In Saheeh Muslim it was reported that “Allah's Messenger came to

Medina and the people had been grafting the trees. He said: What
are you doing? They said: We are grafting them, whereupon he
said: It may perhaps be good for you if you do not do that, so they
abandoned this practice (and the date-palms) began to yield less
fruit. They made a mention of it (to the Prophet), whereupon he
said: I am a human being, so when I command you about a thing
pertaining to religion, do accept it, and when I command you about
a thing out of my personal opinion, keep it in mind that I am a
human being.”

In Saheeh Muslim it is reported “The prophet Mohammed said “O

people, I am a human being. I am about to receive a messenger
(the angel of death) from my Lord and I, in response to Allah's call,
(would bid good-bye to you), but I am leaving among you two
weighty things: the one being the Book of Allah in which there is
right guidance and light, so hold fast to the Book of Allah and
adhere to it. He exhorted (us) (to hold fast) to the Book of Allah and
then said: The second are the members of my household I remind
you (of your duties) to the members of my family.”

Supporting Hadeeth Proving The Prophet Was Just A

Human

Below are a few hadeeths that provide further proof for what is
mentioned by the prophet in the above authentic hadeeths.

Umm Salama said that the Prophet said, "I am a man and you
bring your quarrels to me. Perhaps one of you might know how to
argue more eloquently than the other, and so I would decide in his
favour according to what I hear.”” Qadi Iyad in As Shifa Vol 2
SECTION 4:The Prophet's judgements

The prophet used to pray, "O Allah! I am but a man. If I hurt any
one in any manner, then forgive me and do not punish me." Ahmed,
Musnad, Vol. 6 pg. 103.

In the hadeeth from Ibn Abbas we find, "I am a man. What I tell
you from Allah is true. In what I say from myself, I am but a man.
I can err and I can be right." Recorded in As Shifa of Qadi Iyad Vol 2
SECTION 3:The Prophet's states with respect to worldly matters
Supporting Athar Of A Sahabi Proving The Prophet Was
Just A Human

Below is a authentic athar from a sahabi stating that the prophet

Mohammed is a human.

The sahabi Abu Ramtha said, “I thought prophet was not like other
people, suddenly I saw him, he was a human.” Musnad Ahmad
Hadeeth no: 6934, Zawaid Musnad Ahmad 2/227-228 with an
Authentic Chain

In conclusion the Sufi Ashari Maturidis have lied upon the prophet
Mohammed and extravagated, his status by claiming he is part
human and part noor (light) from Allah or full noor (light) from
Allah. They have done this out their pure ignorance of the Quran,
Sunnah and athar of the sahaba which (has been documented in this
article) all agree that the prophet Mohammed is from the sons of
Adam, he is one hundred percent man and human not part or full
noor (light) from Allah.
