What is V.I.T.A.L.? VITAL is the Volunteer program for schools within the Thompson School District.
Each school has a Volunteer Coordinator who, with the support from the district VITAL office, the princi-
pal, teachers, and staff, recruits, organizes, and trains volunteers to work in the school where and
whenever needed.

Who are the school volunteers? School volunteers are parents, family members, retired citizens,
college and high school students, members of church and civic groups and the community at large who
want to help out in the school.

What types of things do volunteers do? There is a wide-range of things that volunteers do to help
out, whether at school or at home, or both. There are opportunities within each classroom, for once a
year activities, for weekly activities, and for special events.

How do I sign up to be a volunteer? A volunteer sign up form went out at the beginning of the
year. We will do our best to utilize you for the events or activities you sign up for, but please be aware
that there are many times when only a handful of volunteers are needed. You will be contacted to
make sure you are still available to volunteer and give you instructions on where you need to be, how
long, etc. . . .

Volunteering is a way to get involved with your child’s educational experience. Volunteers
are a VITAL part of our school!!!!!

For more information, please contact Terri Johnson, Ponderosa VITAL volunteer coordinator
at 970-449-3404.

We are also looking for someone who would like to learn to be the volunteer coordinator in
the future. If you are interested, please let us know.
