AN-80i PMP Configuration Utility

Easily provision an AN-80i PMP wireless network.
Features:
Use the topology model to map wireless links, multicast groups, and end-
user connections
Enter individual VLAN, PIR and CIR settings for each group and connection
Perform a sector-wide validation of bandwidth allocation, and calculate QoS
settings and realized PIR
Display charts of CIR distribution and PIR oversubscription rate
Write configuration data directly to AN-80i and save to a backup file on PC

Before You Start -- System Technical Information

The following information is required to use the PMP configuration tool:
Link budget results for each subscriber site in the sector
MAC address of the sector controller and each subscriber
Network VLAN and bandwidth plan including multicast groups and end
users
Channel bandwidth and maximum distance to subscriber
IP address and login credentials for the AN-80i

Using the PMP Configuration Utility Tool

1. Start the PMP configuration tool and perform one of the following
operations:
Read settings from AN-80i: click button Read from SC
Load saved settings: menu item File->Import from File
Enter values for Channel Width and Max Distance (minimum
requirement to start).
2. Right-click Links to add a wireless link. Enter the link budget rates
for each subscriber.
3. Right-click Groups to add a multicast group. Enter VLAN settings
and CIR/PIR.
4. Right-click subscriber links (e.g., Links 1 (ID: 4)) to add end-user
connections. Enter VLAN settings and CIR/PIR.
5. Click the Calc QOS button to:
Perform sector-wide validation of bandwidth distribution.
Calculate QoS and PIR for all groups and connections.
Create charts of CIR distribution and the achieved PIR.
6. Click 'File->Export to File' to save the current configuration to a backup file on the PC.
7. Enter the AN-80i username, password, and IP address and click 'Write to SC' to copy the current
configuration settings to the sector controller.

Installing the PMP Configuration Utility Tool

1. Obtain a copy of the Redline PMP configuration tool: AN-80i_PMP_Config_Tool_v1.exe.
2. Copy the file to a folder on a Windows PC. There is no 'installer' and the program does not create
an entry in the start menu.
3. Start the application by double-clicking on the program file, or by using the Start->Run command.

General Behavior
1. Reading settings from the AN-80i does not populate CIR values.
2. Due to the granularity of the QoS, some groups or connections may receive additional CIR/PIR.
3. The PIR chart displays the total booked PIR as a percentage of the desired oversubscription.
4. When the Group multicast rate is set to auto, the modulation will be set to one step below the
lowest modulation used by members of that group. This has a multiplier effect on requested CIR.
5. The CIR chart displays the 'obtained CIR' for uplink, downlink, and multicast groups. Approximately
9% to 12% of bandwidth is reserved for scheduling contingencies under peak traffic conditions.
6. The 'obtained CIR' is generally calculated by: a) first meeting the requested CIR for all groups and
connections, and then b) distributing all remaining available bandwidth between groups and
connections.
7. The CIR chart does not show the actual requested CIR, or otherwise indicate unused capacity.
