Dear Brothers and Sisters, through the
personal encounter with our Redeemer
and through fasting, almsgiving and
prayer, the journey of conversion to-
wards Easter leads us to rediscover our
Baptism. This Lent, let us renew our
acceptance of the Grace that God be-
stowed upon us at that moment, so
that it may illuminate and guide all of our actions. What the
Sacrament signifies and realizes, we are called to experience
every day by following Christ in an ever more generous and
authentic manner. In this our itinerary, let us entrust our-
selves to the Virgin Mary, who generated the Word of God in
faith and in the flesh, so that we may immerse ourselves - just
as she did - in the death and resurrection of her Son Jesus, and

PARISH SUPPER
Sunday, April 3, after 5:30 Mass
Mary, Mother of Jesus will host a spaghetti sup-
per after the 5:30 Mass Sunday, April 3, in
Cumella Hall. Since this will be our first Parish Supper, we
need to know in advance how many people to prepare for. Let
us know how many in your family will attend by:
signing up on the sign-up sheet in the vestibule; or
calling Laura at 487-9894; leave a message if after hours; or
emailing Laura at mmjwoodworth@att.net .
Please respond no later than this Friday, April 1.
Please bring a dessert that would be enough to feed your
family. (That way we won’t be inundated with desserts.)
ANNUAL DIOCESAN APPEAL 2011
Jesus didn’t do it alone. He called disciples to as-
sist him in his mission. Jesus challenged and
supported his disciples - at times gently chiding
them, or reaching out a hand to help, and at times
demanding a lot from them. Our Lord walks with
us but he also challenges us to be good disciples by supporting
the universal Church. The Annual Diocesan Appeal pro-
vides us that opportunity.

SONDRA ABRAHAMS TO SPEAK
Sondra Abrahams will speak
Friday and Saturday, April 8
and 9 at 6:00 pm at St.
Juliana Catholic Church in
Alexandria. More than 30
years ago, Sondra had a near-
death experience after having a
reaction to medicine following
minor surgery. Her near-death experience went beyond
the black tunnel and the bright light. She says she saw
the boundaries of heaven, the levels of purgatory, and
the fiery pits of hell and was told by Jesus that she
would remember all she saw. Hear the entire story
April 8 and 9.

Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Fifth
Ward will host a Lenten Mission from
Tuesday, April 12 through Thurs-
day, April 14 at 6:30 pm. Fr. Chad
Partain, chancellor and pastor of St.
Paul Church in Mansura, will talk
about Experiencing the Transforming
and Healing Power of the Sacraments.
We must meditate before, during
and after everything we do. The
prophet says, “I will pray, and then
I will understand.” This is the way
we can easily overcome the count-
less difficulties we have to face day
after day, which, after all, are part
of our work. In meditation we find
the strength to bring Christ to
birth in ourselves and in others.
