Current research project is to utilize pioneer’s Optimum™ GAT ™ ‘a proprietary, cutting-
edge, gene-shuffling technology that makes crops safer from herbicides. This is one of the
mega trends DuPont is working on which will add up to the share in developing seed market
of $500-600 million in India. The duties are development of transgenic rice for Herbicide
Resistance in Trait Characterization and development group. Core role includes development
of herbicide resistance rice transgenic line, employing genes, which have already been
characterized and shown to work in other system. Resistance plants were further assayed
using standard phenotypic descriptors under controlled conditions.
