Kim Snyder
Kim Snyder is an award-winning documentary filmmaker who most recently
co-founded the BeCause Foundation to produce a series of socially conscious
documentaries and inspire philanthropy through the power of film. The first
three films of the BeCause series (Alone No Love, One Bridge to the Next,
Crossing Midnight) have won numerous festival awards and have been the
catalyst for campaigns that have significantly furthered the work of the social
innovators they highlight. Kim has also been selected to be part of the US
State Department’s 2009 American Documentary Showcase in which she will
be a “citizen ambassador” to a number of designated countries.
Karen Wishner
Karin Wishner is Executive Director of the International Services Center, a
private non-profit social services agency serving refugees and immigrants.
Programs at the agency include refugee resettlement; classes for ESOL,
acculturation, job readiness, and citizenship preparation; translation and
interpreting services; immigration counseling and representation; and urban
agriculture.
Richard Herman
Richard Herman is the founder of Richard T. Herman & Associates, an
immigration and business law firm in Cleveland, Ohio which serves a global
clientele in over 10 languages. He is the co-founder of a chapter of TiE, a
global network of entrepreneurs started in 1992 in Silicon Valley and co-
author of Immigrant Inc.: Why Immigrant Entrepreneurs Are Driving the New
Economy (and how they will save the American worker). He has appeared on
National Public Radio, FOX News, and various affiliates of NBC, CBS, and ABC.
He has also been quoted in such publications as USA Today, InformationWeek,
PCWorld, ComputerWorld, CIO, Site Selection and National Lawyers Weekly.
Richard is one of the architects of a movement to revitalize the Rust Belt
through federal and local policies to attract job-creating high-skill,
entrepreneurial and investor immigrants to distressed regions of the country.
Former resident of Moscow, Russia, Richard is married to Kimberly Chen, a
physician born in Taiwan. They have two children, Nathan, 7, and Isabella, 5.
Mina Khaleel
Mina Khaleel is from Iraq. Her family was resettled by the International
Services Center last April. They received refugee status and had been
living in Syria for two years before they got permission to come to the
U.S. She is currently attending Fairview Park High School and will
graduate this year.
