Invitation for

Honorary Publicity Ambassador of Gangnam-gu

Gangnam-gu recruits volunteers who will promote the attractive Gangnam-gu, a


global district where the traditional and modern lifestyles coexist. Members of
honorary publicity ambassador will carry out promotional activities, introducing
Gangnam-gu via personal SNS such as Twitter, Facebook, and blogs or by sending
e-mails to their home countries.

We welcome any foreigners who are residing in Korea and enjoy living in Gangnam.

Details:

 Number of ambassadors required: approximately 100 foreigners


 Registration period: March 14, 2011 – April 11, 2011
 Working period: Starting from April, 2011

What is Honorary Publicity Ambassador of Gangnam-gu?

Foreign honorary publicity ambassadors will have to write articles about "Gangnam"
at least once a month while maintaining their work/school schedules. Selected
articles will be not only posted on the Gangnam District Office's website but also
distributed to some 160,000 subscribers of the Gangnam-gu Newsletter.

Benefits of Honorary Ambassador of Gangnam-gu

 Members will receive a certificate of participation from the Mayor of Gangnam-gu.


 Authors of the chosen articles will receive a certain amount of remuneration.
 Members can attend performances, events and exhibitions take place in Gangnam-gu for free.
 Outstanding members will be selected and awarded with a prized of a free tour to tourist
attractions in Gangnam-gu.
 Members will be given an opportunity to promote a global district of Gangnam to the world.

The Yeoksam Global Village Center, in collaboration with Arirang TV, Korea's representative
international broadcasting station, takes pleasure in inviting you as a guest for TV show ‘All
Together’.

Arirang TV’s ‘All Together’ is a program where multicultural residents can showcase their
hidden talents and other skills at a competition.

Enjoy the Performance “Bukcheong Lion Dance”
& Learn Korean Traditional Dances

The Yeoksam Global Village Center invites you to a traditional mask dance
performance which will be staged at the Seoul Namsan Traditional Theater (Seoul
Namsan Gugakdang).

The Bukcheong Lion Mask Dance is an age-old, traditional dance native to


Bukcheong-gun, south Hamgyeong Province in Korea (now in North Korea).

The performance is available for all age groups and English and Japanese subtitles
will be provided for foreigners.

The playwright/director infused tradition into a family-oriented story about love and
sacrifice, and the performance features a variety of traditional instruments such as
Korean bamboo flutes, drums, and Janggu.

In addition to the Bukcheong Lion Mask Dance, we will provide you a special
opportunity to learn other representative dance performances of Korea, including
Kkoksoe, Yangban dance, Humpback dance and Lion dance.

Making Galbi Jjim (braised short ribs) &
Samsaek Namul (three colored vegetables)

The Yeoksam Global Village Center will host a Korean cooking class on Friday, April
22nd.

Galbi Jjim is short ribs braised in sweet soy sauce-based sauce. This is one of the
famous Korean foods, which is favored by both foreigners and Koreans.

Galbi is a dish that is made with marinated beef (or pork) short ribs in a ganjang-
based sauce (Korean soy sauce).

Samsaek namul, or tri-colored vegetables is traditionally eaten at festive seasons


or ancestral rites. The dish usually consists of white, brown and green vegetables in
season.

Volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital

Volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital with the Yeoksam Global Village Center!

On Saturday, April 23 from 10:00 to12:00, the volunteer group will pay its 14th visit to
St. Mary’s Hospital in Gangnam to help with the preparation of medical kits and
spend time with young patients.

Those of you who have interest in music, magic, arts or different recreation to share
with children are welcome to join us!! (No prior experience required)

Personal Banking Seminar

In collaboration with the Korea Exchange Bank (KEB), the Yeoksam Global Village
Center will host a personal banking seminar for foreigners on April 29 from 4 to 6pm.

If you have just arrived in Seoul, this will be a great opportunity to learn about
banking in Korea. At this seminar, you can get information on opening accounts,
making withdrawals and transfers, electronic banking, exchange and overseas
remittance, debit and credit cards, as well as other financial services such as
automatic utility bill payments and loans.

English speaking representatives from Korea Exchange Bank (KEB) will be coming
to the center to talk about all this and more. There will also be a Q&A session during
which you can ask any and all questions you may have about money management in
Korea.

This seminar is free of charge and anyone is welcome to attend. For those who
