Would Jesus have the sinner die?

Why hangs He then on yonder tree?
What means that strange expiring cry?
Sinners, He prays for you and me;
Forgive them, Father, O forgive!
They know not that by me they live

There is a joke about a boy who goes the Accra to seek greener pastures, but finds out life is not so
easy as he wished therefore he is walking one day alone the streets of Accra and finds a sign
workers wanted at a zoo. He decides to go in there, since he has no food to eat, to his amazement he
was to wear a monkey costume and when the zoo opens, he was to swing from tree to tree. The next
morning the comes to work, wears his costume and then starts jumping from tree to tree, then,
mistakenly falls into the Lion¶s cage, so he begins to shout, Help! Help! Help! But to his
amazement the Lion tells him ah Koo keep quite do you want us to lose our jobs.

The state of humans is like in this story, where we are all disguised into things we are not and
running away from things which are not real, to simply put this we are chasing the shadows of
things which are to us pleasing and fulfilling. For we seek morality but do not know the moral law
giver, we look for the truth but do not know who is the truth, we want to worship but do not know
what it costs.
[
.
Like the people of Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen. 19), There was the REJECTION of God in all their
lives, they were increasing in immorality ³Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him
not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart
was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the
incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts,
and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their
own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into
a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever.
Amen. ³(Rom 1:21-25 KJV)

Many times we reject God not because he has not been with us but because we will rather not have
a God who will give us a moral Law so we can indulge in our own sinful desire. We are now in
what is called the Feel Good Syndrome (FGS), she will not feel good if a man looks at her and
makes a sexual explicit comment, but still our young ladies will walk half naked and are not
shamed because when they wear it they feel good. Our young men will rather sleep with any
woman they feel attracted to. The Husband is not faithful to the woman he decided to live with but
rather with some young girl who doses not know what she wants. He wants his wife to be faithful
but he will not be.

The youth, if I close my eyes are lost, they look for money but do not want to work. Young girls
will deny their parents just because they are living a life socially above their parents. We have
become like the man who looks at his face in the mirror, and after he turns away forgets how he
looks.

We have rejected God in as much as we who are made in the Imago Dieo of God and when we step
into the world forget all about who we actually are. We have now become the rulers of Sodom and
Judges of Gomorrah, towards God ³Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath
spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me. The ox
knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not
consider. Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are
corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger,
they are gone away backward. (Isa 1:2-4)

We show no more reverence towards the Sovereign master or worship has now become only but
creeds without deeds. We say we perform but do not live, we say we are Christians we perform our
legal duties like giving our offerings yet we who are under grace but not the Law will easily give a
sheep in place of ourselves we will give sacrifices than sacrifice ourselves. We now give what is to
Caeser to God and give what is to God to Caeser.

[

Are we stewards and still will not render any account to the Lord? we keep Gods property and we
will not want to give account of it to it¶s owner. One may ask what God¶s property is. The answer is
simple (see Gen. 1 vs. 26). ÷ steward identifies himself with his master, he accepts the
responsibility of the steward and must act in his masters will (Ellen G. White, Counsels on
Stewardship). We only will accept that which we will gain with material things of this earth rather
than looking towards our spiritual Poverty but seek to satisfy the flesh more.

Last time I sat in a car with a man who was totally drank then he said something which strike me as
strange, he said ³I know that man is nothing and we will all die one day´ let me ask all of us if we
are the image of God, are we actually nothing? Therefore we have rejected God so we can indulge
in sin, we can feel good and not account for what he has given us. We now have lost all sense of
belonging to the divine being who has made us fearful and wonderful.

 City
How come that a man like Zacchaeus who was a Jew be found in a city where it has been cursed
(see Jos.6 vs.26), Jericho was to be a desolate town where no one will be expected to live because
the builder for this town will use his ³Firstborn son for the foundations´, he was in one of the most
dishonest job you could find a Jew doing, so much so that when Matthew was describing his
version of the Gospel he made mention of his home as ³the House´ and when listing the Disciples
he said ³Matthew the tax collector´. To be tax collector during those days in the eyes of the people
and Pharisee meant you were unholy. Now hearing more about Jesus, in his heart seeking to find
the truth in the scriptures
a Jehovah thy God will raise up unto thee a prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren,
like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; (Deu 18:15)
a And there shall come forth a shoot out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots
shall bear fruit. (Isa 11:1)
a Incline your ear, and come unto me; hear, and your soul shall live: and I will make an

everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. Behold, I have given him for
a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander to the peoples. Behold, thou shalt call a
nation that thou knowest not; and a nation that knew not thee shall run unto thee, because of
Jehovah thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee. ‰
a Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and he
shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.
(Jer 23:5)

a Behold, my servant, whom I uphold; my chosen, in whom my soul delighteth: I have put my
Spirit upon him; he will bring forth justice to the Gentiles. He will not cry, nor lift up his
voice, nor cause it to be heard in the street. A bruised reed will he not break, and a dimly
burning wick will he not quench: he will bring forth justice in truth. He will not fail nor be
discouraged, till he have set justice in the earth; and the isles shall wait for his law. (Isa 42:1-
4)

a In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of
Jerusalem, for sin and for uncleanness.(Zec 13:1)

With these things strong in Zachaeus¶s heart he wanted to seek Jesus Christ out and know the truth.
Like what happen between Philip and Nathanael: ÷nd Nathanael said unto him, Can there any
good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see. Jesus saw Nathanael
coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile! Nathanael
saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip
called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee. (Joh 1:46-48 KJV)

Jesus calls him from the Sycamore tree and he gets down to host Jesus in his House, the truth is that
if we seek him we will realize that Jesus Christ has sought us long ago, like what Frances
Thompson said in his poem the ³Hounds of Heaven´

I fled him down the night and down the days.

I fled him down the arches of the years
I fled him down the labyrinth ways
Of my mind, and in the mist of tears
I hid from him, and under running Laughter
Up vistaed hopes I sped and shot precipitated
Adown the titanic glooms of chasmed hears
From those strong feet that followed, followed after me
But with unhurring chase and unperted pace
Deliberated speed, majestic instancy
They beat, and voice beat,
More instant than feet;
All things betray thee who betayest me

Save me, save only me?

All which I took from thee I didst but take
Not for thy harms
But just that thou might seek it in my arms
All which thy child mistake fancies as lost
I have stored for thee at home
Rise, clasp my hand and come
Is my gloom, after all
Shade of his hand outstretched caressingly?
Ah, fondest, blindest, weakest
I am he whom thou seekest
Thou dravest Love from thee which dravest me.

Why run when he seeks you.
The End.
