AA ruled the pack, gaining 2.79% to finish at $18.05, apparently on track to reach our target at
$20.15 (March 30th update). On the second place was INTC with 1.13% increase as it settled at
$19.71. At the third, CVX ended the day at $109.33, gaining 1.02% on the day. CSCO and MSFT
were at the fourth and fifth places, respectively.
The rises of INTC, CSCO, and MSFT owed to the rebalancing of NASDAQ components. INTC’s weight
was raised from 1.75% to 4.2%, MSFT from 3.41% to 8.32%, CSCO from 1.56% to 3.66%. Other
notable changes for non-Dow components were AAPL (from 20.49% to 12.33%), ORCL (3.32% to
6.68%), GOOG (from 4.18% to 5.77%), SBUX (1.79% to 1.08%), AMZN (2.5% to 3.16%), DELL
(0.47% to 1.08%), ADBE (0.78% to 0.67%), EBAY (1.41% to 1.58%), and YHOO (0.49% to 0.86%).
Economic data featured ISM for Non-manufacturing sector, which was reported to have fallen from
59.7 to 57.3, worse than the expected slip to 59.0. Nevertheless, the index stays above 50, the
borderline between expansion and contraction. No economic data to be released on Wednesday.
Despite the various hawkish comments from Federal Reserve board members, Ben Bernanke’s speech
on Tuesday suggested that the Fed may not be that soon to raise interest rates. This dampened the
inflation expectation in the market and in turn, boosted gold prices. China on the other hand, raised
rates on deposit and lending.
Lending rate has been raised from 6.06% to 6.31%, while the deposit rate has been raised from 3%
to 3.25%.

Last month, I pointed out at INTC being in a range trade between $24.37 and $17.60. Things remain
the same at the moment, with the price now being under pressure as indicators suggest that INTC is
heading towards the lower end of the range at $17.60. EMAs are sloping down, MACD is negative
and RSI is fortunately however, providing hope of a bullish convergence pattern to emerge. Still, it’s
too soon to call for a bottom. Upticks may be limited to $20.66-$20.79. Look for more downside as
the INTC heads to $17.60.
