 A-‐Fair  Primer
|  INSIGHTS  ON  THE  ATENEO  COMMUNITY  |

Professionals  for  others,  magis,  Ad  Majorem   Dei  Gloriam,  Lux  in  Domino-‐   every  Atenean  graduates  with  the
knowledge  of  what   Ateneo   educa@on  is  about.   The  ques@on  con@nues  to  push  itself:  who  is  the  product  of
this  educa@on?  Who  is  the  Atenean?

Building   the   community   starts   through   shared   experiences   that   give   members   a  sense   of   tradi@on   and
culture.   Every   Atenean   experiences   this   for   the   first   and   last   @me   through   the  ORSEM   and   Blue   Roast,
respec@vely.  However,   these   events  are   limited   to   par@cular   batch   events  that  are  not  reinforced   in   the
community.  The  Ateneo  needs  a  shared   celebra@on  not  only  for  welcoming,  send-‐off,  or   Basketball  victory,
but   of   student   crea@vity   and   recrea@on.   We   may   remember   how   in   high   school,   just   as   much   as   our
contacts  deem  the  UP  and  DLSU  fairs,  School  Fairs  play  the  objec@ves  of  self-‐expression  and  solidarity.

In  this   light,   our   Task   Force  brings   you  “A-‐Fair-‐”  a   2-‐day   ac@vity  of   fes@vity.  In   simple  terms,   our   success
indicators   are  the  collabora@on,  aWendance   and   interac@on  among  members  of  the  Ateneo   Community.  It
simply  calls  for  a  yearly  authen@c  experience  of  how,  through  engaging  passions,  the  Atenean  has  become.

The  Sanggunian,  as  the  sole  autonomous  student  government,  is  impelled  by  the  Cons@tu@onal  principle  to
foster  “University  Spirit”.  During   its  first   run,  A-‐fair  will  not  risk  the   financial  resources  of  the   community,
rather  work  towards  making   itself  a  self-‐sustainable  ac@vity  un@l  it  has  proven   its  stability  and  sustainability.
Although  a  student-‐organized   and  centered   ac@vity,  it  will  partner  with  other  community  members  who  are
experienced  with  the  Ateneo  tradi@on  such  as  the  administra@on,  faculty,  alumni  and  parents.  They  will  also
guide   us  in   terms  of   logis@cs  and   marke@ng.   DISCLAIMER:   Any   vote   from   a  COA   organiza@on   or   School
Board   DOES   NOT   imply   an   automa@c   involvement   of   the   saidgroup.   Support   only   entails   the   project’s
carrying  of  the  representa@ve  name  of  the  Sanggunian,  and  not  a  forced  involvement  of  any  student  group.

There   are   3   phases   of   the   ac@vity   which   will   enable   student   groups   to   examine   and   value   the   Ateneo
community  and  its  members  who  are  beyond  their  immediate  spheres  of  influence.

1. Planning:  The  en@re  year’s  process  of   project  management  perpetuate  a  collabora@ve  environment
among  the  exis@ng  groups  of  interest.  All  members  of  the  community  who  wish  to  par@cipate  in  the
A-‐fair   will  be  integrated  into  the  actual  organizing  commiWee.  They  will  also  be  represented  by  the  4
Batch  Coordina@ng  Assemblies,  ARSA,  COA  and  LIONS.
2. Implementa@on:  All  the  aspects  of  the  A-‐fair  will  be  bound  by  1  theme  through  a    well-‐represented
“Screening  CommiWee”  that  will  ensure  that  everything  will  engage  as  many  people  as  possible.
3. Evalua@on:  The  en@re  community  will  evaluate  not  only  the  project  management  aspect  of  the  fair,
but  more  importantly   personal  and   collec@ve  insights  about  the  “Ateneo  community.”  There  will  be
Focused   Group   Discussions  within  the  groups  of  interest  and  among   their  leaders.  These  FGDs  will
be  facilitated  by  professionals  from  either  OSA,  Guidance   or  professors  on  project  management  or
philosophy.

Simply  put,   if   we  are  in  this  together,  we   cannot  possibly   fail.   We  will  only   do  what  we  enjoy,  and   in   the
process,  may  we  always  realize  that...  Atenista  ako,  pero  Atenista  rin  tayong  lahat.

|  BRANDING  |

Collabora@on   with  sectors  of  the  community:  org  par@cipa@on,  AAA   BancheWo,   and  ARSA  Variety   Show  will
entail  a  big  audience.

While  the  rest  of  the  fair   will  follow  criteria  in  line  with  a  common   theme,   the   events  will  bring   the  people
together  as  the  A-‐stage  will  be  the  center  of   aWen@on.  Hosts  will  go  around   with  live  video  to  cover  what  is
happening  in  the  en@re  field.  All   events  were  par@cularly  hand-‐picked  to  “let   people  come  together.”  Most
events  were  innovated  versions  of  top  events  during  the  year.  To  name  a  few:
-‐ Movie  Night  with  Picnic  Set-‐up
-‐ Blue  Symphony  Concert  synchronized  with  college  bands
-‐ ARSA  Variety  Show  with  professional  bands  and  celebri@es

batch   is  comprised  of  the  people  you  enter  and   exit  the  Ateneo  with  and  you   only   gather  together  twice  in
college:   the  ORSEM  and  Blue  Roast.  Your  batch  will  also  iden@fy   you   even  in   the  Alumni  community   through
the  Homecomings  to  come.  Therefore,  batch  solidarity  is  a  good  avenue  to  integrate  in  community  building.
