Ayrton Senna was famous for being the best Formula 1 racer. He accomplished a lot of
things, including learning how to speak English. He raced from 1984 to 1994. He won 41
races and 3 championships. He had 80 podiums and 64 pole positions.

Ayrton Senna was born in Santana on March 21 st 1960. He was a highly athletic person,
mastering gymnastics and other sports. He then developed an interest in cars and motor
racing at a young age. Senna͛s first kart was a 1HP go-kart. At the age of 13 he entered the
go-kart championship. In 1977 he won the South American Kart championship. In 1981
Senna moved to England to start single-seater racing, winning the RAC and Townsend -
Thoreson Formula Ford with the Van Diemen team. Silva is a very common Brazilian name,
he adopted his mother͛s maiden name Senna. Senna went to win the 1982 British and
European Formula Ford 2000 championships under that surname.

Senna͛s first Formula 1 team was Toleman. He joined it on 1984. His second was Lotus. He
was in Lotus between 1985 -1987. His third was Honda. I think that that was his favorite
team. He was in it between 1988 -1992. I also think that he did the best performance with
Honda. In 1994 he joined Williams Renault. On May 1 st 1994 Senna had a terrible crash on
Tamborello on Imola. When he crashed the wheel was stuck between the chassis and the
wall and at the wrong moment it popped out and hit him in the head. He was at a speed of
about 200 miles per hour.

Senna was a great Formula 1 racer. When he died it send a shock wave around the world.
Lewis Hamilton a famous Formula 1 racer racing today was about 6 when Senna died. When
he died Lewis went to the back of his dad͛s car and cried. He was a hero to many people,
with a rare gift for formula one driving that not many people had. I think he was the best
Formula 1 racer in the world. I wish he was still alive today.
