FTP
- PageScope Cabinet and the FTP Utility will not run on Windows 2003 & Vista.
PageScope Cabinet needs to be open before scanning, or the FTP Service placed in the
Startup folder of the PC. (see page 5, point 7)
SMB
* - On Windows 2003, you may find that you need to change a registry setting in order
for this to work. This setting can be found under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanManServer\Parameters\
RequireSecuritySignature (REG_DWORD)
You need to change the DWORD value from 1 to 0 to disable the SMB digital
communication policy.
- Scanning to a mapped drive – make sure you place a / before the share name of the
folder within that mapped drive.
E-mail
- If you are connecting to an Exchange Server, Relay must be enabled for the Konica
Minolta device on the server itself.
- Alternatively a new account needs to be created on the SMTP server, and
‘SMTP Authentication’ needs to be enabled under the ‘E-mail Transmission’
settings on the MFP.
(Please note that ‘SMTP Authentication’ is not available on all machines)
- In order for ANY Fiery print controller to scan to e-mail, an e-mail account needs to be
set up on the e-mail server as if the machine were a new employee.
- Remember to make sure Binary Division is disabled under the E-mail SMTP Settings.
HDD
- If using the PageScope Box Operator or the HDD TWAIN Driver to retrieve scans,
please make sure you are using the correct version for the version of firmware the
machine is running on.
Version 3.1.0 Box Operator should be backwardly compatible with all versions of
firmware.
- Older versions of Box Operator will not connect to newer versions of firmware and need
to be upgraded at the same time as the firmware.
The latest version of Box Operator can be downloaded from our website:

CONFIGURING PAGESCOPE CABINET
1) If you do not have PageScope Cabinet installed on your PC, you need to
download version 1.6.1.0 from our website www.konicaminolta.eu
2) Create a folder on the computer in which you wish the scans to be placed.
Hereafter referred to as “PC Root Folder”
3) To configure PageScope Cabinet, please follow the instructions below:
4) Open PageScope Cabinet from the Programs menu
5) Click on ‘Tools’ and then ‘Setup’
6) Click on the FTP tab at the top and enter in a User Name, Password and
FTP Root Folder. The FTP Root folder is the folder that you have setup on
the computer into which the scans are going to be placed (“PC Root
Folder”).
3) Right click on ‘Internet Information Services’, select ‘New’ and then ‘FTP Site’
From here on, the creation of the FTP site is the same as Vista. Please refer to
pages 9 – 11, points 8 – 9 and 11-13.
4) Once you have completed the FTP set up wizard, right click on the new FTP
site and go to ‘Properties’. Under ‘Security Accounts’ make sure that ‘Allow
Anonymous Connections’ is ticked. ‘Allow Anonymous only Connections’ and
‘Allow IIS to control the Password’ should both be unticked.
2) Double click on ‘Programs and Features’ and select ‘Turn Windows features on
or off’
8) The ‘Welcome to the FTP Site Creation Wizard’ will open. Click ‘Next’ to the
first screen.
9) Give your new site a title and click ‘Next’. On the next screen, drop the box
down and choose the IP address of the PC. Click ‘Next’
11) Browse to the folder where you want the scans to be placed and click ‘Next’
12) Make sure you enable ‘Write’ access. Click ‘Next’ and then ‘Finish’
14) You may also need to start the ‘FTP Publishing Service’ as by default this is
disabled. This can be achieved by opening ‘Services’ under ‘Administrative Tools’.
Find ‘FTP Publishing Service’ in the list, right click it and under the Properties,
select the ‘Start up type’ as ‘Automatic’, and start the service.
15) The Vista Firewall also needs to be configured to enable inbound connections.
Open ‘Administrative Tools’ and double click on ‘Windows Firewall with Advanced
Security’
17) Under the ‘Private Profile’ tab, set the ‘Inbound Connections’ to Allow.
Once an FTP service has been enabled on a PC, the service can be tested quite
easily to determine that the settings you have entered are correct. This test is the
same whichever operating system you are using.
1) In Windows 2000, XP and 2003, click the Start button and then open ‘Run’
- In Vista the ‘Run’ command is not located under the Start button by
default. If this is the case on your PC, click on the ‘All Programs’ button
and open ‘Accessories’. Open ‘Run’
3) A DOS screen will open. If you need to find out the IP address of your PC, at
the command line, type ‘ipconfig’ and press enter.
- If you already know the IP address, type the following: ftp [IP address]
PageScope Cabinet:
220 PageScope Cabinet FTP Server FTP Server (version 1.00) Ready
IIS:
5) DOS will now prompt you to enter a user name and then a password.
- If you are using IIS, this is the user name and password of a user which
is set up on the PC. It is advisable to input the same user name and
password in to the machine settings as you use when testing the
connection through DOS. That way you know it will work.
- If you are using an FTP utility (i.e. PageScope Cabinet) it will be the user
name and password that you configured within this utility
As long as you can get to the stage of ‘230: User [user name] logged in’ with
DOS, you should then be OK to configure the machine.
1) Create a folder on the C Drive. For the purpose of this manual, I have created
a folder called ‘smb’ with the share name of ‘smb’.
On Windows XP, there are two different types of sharing. The first type of
sharing is called ‘Simple File Sharing’. By clicking Tools\Folder Options\View you
can turn this option on by putting a tick in the box, clicking Apply and then OK.
If you are using Simple File Sharing, you must make sure ‘Share this folder on the
network’ and ‘Allow Network Users to Change my Files’ boxes are ticked.
3) Choose the user that you are allowing to have access to this folder. This can
either be the user name that is used to log in to the PC every morning, or you can
create a new user specifically for scan to SMB. For the purpose of this guide, I
am using a user called ‘hotline’.
4) Click ‘Add’
5) Click on the ‘Permission Level’ arrow next to the user you have added. Choose
‘Contributor’ from the list of options.

There are 2 ways of configuring the C451/C550/C650 with the IC-409 attached.
Please make sure you check which configuration you have before you commence
setup of scanning.
Configuration 1
Figure 1
Figure 2
* There will be a short black crossover cable connected from the top LAN connection
of the copier (Figure 1), to the COPIER connection on the Fiery (Figure 2).
* The LAN cable for the network will be plugged in to the LAN port on the Fiery.
The machine will have two IP addresses. One for the Fiery and one for the main
body. When browsing the web interface, you need to use the correct IP address for
what you want to browse.
The IP address of the Main Body can be found by printing a Configuration Page from
the Fiery. At the machine, follow the steps below:
Scan to E-mail
With this configuration, the machine will first look to the main body for scan settings.
If the main body of the machine and the Fiery both have SMTP settings entered, the
machine will send e-mails from the main body. If only the Fiery is configured, the
Fiery will send the e-mail instead.
Scan to HDD/FTP/SMB - these are all handled by the Emperon controller.
Please refer to the relevant pages - HDD 30-31, FTP 34 & SMB 35 for
details.
Scan to E-mail through the Fiery IC-409 – please refer to pages 26 - 27 for
configuration
