Title: Fly- and bottomash pumping at Kogan
Creek coal fired power station,
Queensland, Australia
Number: 070817 Film-Nr.:

Copy: Project: Dated: Author: Peter Peschken

An international
Siemens-led
consortium has
built the 750 kW
supercritical-
stream coal fired
power station.
This is the largest
single-block
power station in
Australia. 2.8 M
ton of hard coal
will be burnt each
year. The coal
mine is 4 km
away only and
with reserves of
300 million t there
will be enough
coal for the next
100 years.
The
commissioning of
the ash pumping
system was in
May/June 2007.
The pumping
distance at this
time was approx.
2.000 m, the final
distance will be
5.500 m. In the
fore ground you
see the two
150 mm pipelines,
one in operation,
one stand-by.

2 KOS 25.100
HP, each one
driven by a power
pack HA 300 E
will pump the high
density fly ash
and bottom ash
over max.
5.500 m distance
to the deposit.
One pump is
working, one
stand-by. To
reduce pressure
peaks the system
is equipped with a
HMC-S valve and
hydraulic power
dampener
HPD 280/750.
Technical data:
Max. output:
152 m³/h
Max. delivery
pressure:
6,9 MPa
Delivery cylinder
length: 2500 mm
Delivery cylinder
diameter 360 mm
Delivery cylinder
volume 254 litre
Power pack –
each pump
500 kW

hopper.

150 mm suction
connection
between the ash
sludge tank and
the KOS 25.100
HP hopper. This
big pump hopper
is equipped with a
agitator. The tank
can be separated
from the pump
hopper by a gate
valve. Water can
flow into the pump
hopper through
the upper line for
flushing.Sufficient
high density ash
slurry and enough
water have to flow
into the pump
hopper by gravity.
Cavitation is not
allowed.
