Welcome to the Unit Guide for the unit of competency:


ICAI3021A Connect internal hardware components

This Guide is designed for learners in Certificate III in Information


Technology (Support) at the IEA College of TAFE, Coronation College
Campus.

Aim of the unit

The aim of this unit is to introduction the skills and knowledge required
to modify and connect system hardware components according to
client and user requirements.

The topics that will be covered in this unit are

3.4 Test components for error-free performance,
utilising available technology

3.6 Test and enhance system performance, using
knowledge of the system, to meet organisational
benchmarks
3.7 Document the installation and
configuration process according to
organisation guidelines

Delivery method
Classroom delivery is a mixed mode of delivery. A range of delivery
strategies will be used to cater for the different learning styles of the

All assessment tasks will be assessed accordingly as follows:

• An award of J indicates that the student is Competent


• An award of M indicates that the student is NOT YET Competent.

It is in your interest to complete assessments according to the timetable and aim to
achieve competency on the first attempt. You will have a minimum of two weeks notice
to complete simple assessment pieces and longer to complete complex assessment
pieces. Re-assessment is available bit will increase your workload and may impede
your smooth progress though each module.

Assessment Validation
The Assessment was being validated by the following IEA TAFE IT
Trainers: Paita Evoapo, Kevin Tumun, Simon Emmanuel, Tracy Wafewa
and Cassenda Garong. The Assessment item covers all elements of the
competency.
