1) Download the latest code bin for the Pansat 3500 (X-05BL-051118-122eubx-
api-1.bin) and the latest loader specific to the unit
(BlacklistX_05BL_LoaderV3[1].37).

2) Then download a channel list if you like, that matches your sat setup, with
careful attention to your type of sat LNB (Legacy or Dishpro). Also be aware of
TP changes.

3) If you are going to use a channel list, make sure it is properly formatted: ie.
Project Type = 3500; Sat Properties (Ports = Antenna Setup on IRD), and; is in
the “bin” format.

4) Connect the twisted null modem cable that came with the 3500 and connect
one end to a serial com port on your computer and the other end to the 3500’s
RS232 9-pin serial port at the back of the unit.

5) Now plug in the Pansat 3500. Make sure the power button on the back of the
3500 is set to off.

6) Open the “BlacklistX_05BL_LoaderV3[1].37" loader program.

7) Select the correct serial com port settings (ie. COM 1) and ensure the default

Baud Rate is set to 115200. File Type should be defaulted to App File Only.

8) Click on the Bin File button, and locate the latest bin (X-05BL-051118-
122eubx.bin) that you had just downloaded into your computer and open the file.

9) Before you download the file to your computer, turn your 3500 ird ON via the
back power switch. The led will light up in the front panel.

10) Now click the download button and wait for the entire download to finish.
When the download is completed, the 3500 will reboot and you will see a b-70 on
the led of the ird.

11) Once this is done, you can either download a channel list into your ird or do a
blind/sat scan. If you prefer the latter, then proceed to step 14.

12) As mentioned, the Channel List must be in “bin” format for the loader to
work. If the channel list is in Channel Master format (*.cmproj), you will need to
save the file into a “bin” format. Follow the SD Card Setup Guide for the 3500 in
Appendix 1.

13) Download the bin formatted channel list using the loader. Click on Bin File
and locate the file on your computer. Make sure you select Channel Data as the
File Type.

14) When the download is complete, turn off your 3500 via the power switch on
the back panel and unhook it from the computer. Take the 3500 to TV area and
do all the appropriate hookups (satellite cable to F-in, component video out to tv,
digital optical audio to audio receiver or tv, etc.).

15) If you decide not to load a channel list and opt instead to do a blind or
satellite scan, then turn off your 3500 via the power switch at the back panel,
unhook from the computer and do the appropriate hook ups for your tv.

16) Once the hookups are complete, turn on the 3500 ird via back power switch.
Once the 3500 boots up, it should automatically bring you to the language menu.
Select your preference (English) and then press OK on the remote control.

17) Back to the Main Menu, press OK on Installation and enter the password
“0000” in the password popup screen. You will then arrive at the Installation
Setup.

18) Press OK on Antenna setup and the following screen will be available:

19) At this point, select the satellites you are equipped to receive. The echostar
8.6 represents the 110 sat and the echostar 7 represents the 119. On each sat,
input the DiSEqC settings and ensure they reflect your rooftop connection setup.
Then examine to ensure you have adequate signal level and quality for each sat.
70% and over is considered a good signal.

The following are common settings in the Antenna Setup for Legacy LNBs:

i) LNB = Standard;
ii) Frequency by default = 112500;
iii) 22 kHz = Off

iv) DiSEqC = echostar 8.6 (110) > LNB # 1 (If you plugged the 119 cable into
the LNB 2 of the switch)
echostar 7 (119) > LNB # 2 (If you plugged the 119 cable into
the LNB 2 of the switch)
v) Skew = Only needed if you have a motorized dish.

20) Exit the Antenna Setup and you should be back to the Installation screen.
Scroll down to Edit TP/Satellite and press OK.

21) Press OK on either the sat echostar 8.6 or echostar 7, and press OK again.
Rename each using your remote key pad to Echo 110 and Echo 119, respectively
as stated. When complete, exit back to the Installation screen.

22) At the Installation screen, scroll down to the type of scan you would like to
proceed with and press OK:

23) The Blind or Satellite Scan is recommended, with preference to a Blind Scan.
(The TP scan is normally done after TP changes occur.)

24) To begin, select the target satellite to be scanned (either Echo 110 or Echo
119) and press OK for the scan to begin. It should now scan the selected
satellite. Each sat scan should take about 5 – 10 minutes. If the scan fails at
anytime, repeat the same steps.

25) Once complete, scan the other satellite(s) in the same manner.

26) When the scans are complete, exit out of all programs. Now hit the Menu
button on the remote to take you back to the Main Menu.

27) This is an important step. Scroll down to Parental Control and press okay.
Then at the popup, scroll down to the second Pin and enter “0000.”

28) This will take you into the CAS system menu:

29) Scroll down to Set default key and press OK. At this point, you can scroll up
to Nagravision 2 and view the screen for manually inputted new keys.
(Subsequent bins are expected to contain an autoroll key feature.)

30) Anyway, exit out of the CAS system back to the Main Menu and scroll down
to User Setup. Press OK:

31) Language should be already set to English.

32) It is important that you configure the Time Settings properly for a good
EPG. First set the Time zone. Use your volume buttons on the pansat remote to
change your GMT time setting (ie. Eastern, Mountain, etc.).

33) Then scroll down to the Current Time and press OK. Use the remote’s
number pad channel buttons to input year, month, date and time.

34) Exit out of all menu screens. Now press the SAT button on your remote. In
the next screen, scroll down to Echostar Package and press OK. Your tv
programming should now match that of the Dishnetwork. Finally, pour yourself a
rum and koke and watch TV.

Appendix 1

SD Memory Card Guide (Pansat 3500s):

Follow the procedures in chronological order.

Format SD Card:

First, you must place the sd card into the ird slot first so that the pansat ird will
program format your card into three directories: a) CH Data (channel lists), b)
Code (working bins) and, c) MP3 (music). Then, Remove the card from the slot
on the ird.

Saving Unto SD Card:

To save working bins or channels lists unto the sd card, find a good channel list
for the sats you have and then use Channel Master or the Pansat 3500 Channel
Editor, to modify the list to best suit your needs. In other words, you would

likely modify the locals and/or the favourite lists. (Note: Don't forget to get the
latest version of the stated programs.)

Top Box Settings (Channel Master):

Once you modify the channel list, or even before, make sure the list is configured
to your specific ird. In Channel Master, you can do this by either right clicking
the mouse button on the sat or favorite lists within the window content, or click
the Edit on the Tab bar and scroll down and click properties. In the pop up, select
the project type (ie. Pansat 2700a, Pansat 3500) and hit OK to exit. Now you
have a channel list suited for your Pansat. You can use this file and download
into your ird via com port, as is. However, if you want to use your SD Card, you
must first convert the channel master document into a "bin" format.
Saving the Channel List unto your SD Card:

Insert your SD card into the card reader of your computer. In order for the ird to
recognize the file on your SD Card, it must first be converted into a "bin" format.
To do this, go to File on the Tab menu in the Channel Master program and scroll
down to "save as." A pop up directory will appear. Now locate the CH Data
directory for your SD card in the drive of your reader (ie. removable drive G).
Name your file and then use the scroll down button as to file type. Select Bin
Channel Files (*.bcf, *bin). WAIT. This is very important. Whatever you
named your file, add the extension bin before saving. For example, the full file
name could look like - "Sept27CMList.bin" Now click Save and your bin
channel file will be download into your SD Card via the reader.

(The Pansat Channel Editor does not seem to have the ability to convert the
channel list into a bin file. This is a shame and hopefully, updates to allow this
conversion will be forthcoming for this program.)

SD Card to Receiver:

Now take your sd card with the bin file and plug it into the sd slot of your

receiver. Go to Main Menu..and then click on the SD. A pop up should appear
with the three directories. Click on Ch Data and select your newly created
channel list bin file. Uploading will then occur. When complete, exit program

Backing Up Working Bins and Channel lists to SD Card:

For backing up a channel list for example, select CH Data and the hit the red
button at the bottom of the remote. A pop up will come up to confirm. Select
yes. Then use the next pop up to name your file. Once this is done, hit your OK
button and a download screen will appear. After download is complete, exit out.
You can do the same for the working bins. Just place the backup under the Code
directory.
