I. Deputies
The Ateneo Student Catholic Action deputy is a member with added
responsibilities specific to a cell. The term usually lasts for one semester where
their performance will be assessed by the Executive Board during MidSem. The
deputy may continue his or her term upon the approval of the EB. In the event
that the EB will not continue the term, an application process will begin again.
The process will be supervised by the President of that year.
II. Qualities
Generally, deputies must possess the following qualities:
Grounded on Servant-Leadership
o Willing to be of service to others
Charitable
o Willing to generously love to others through action
Committed
o Willing to sacrifice some personal time and effort for the role
o Able to handle stress
Knowledgeable
o Has a grasp at the formation in AtSCA
Must have a cumulative QPI of at least 2.5
Secretariat
Organized with files and documents
If possible, knowledgeable on basic photo/video designing
Social Awareness
Knowledgeable of current social issues
If possible, must be an inducted member
Good at interacting with other people
Spirituality
Has clear grasp at Ignatian Spirituality
Good at project management
Knowledgeable at conducting masses
III. Process
Generally, the rules for the deputy applications will be:
The applicant must submit the following the application form at least one
day before the interview and be interviewed by the committee head he
or she is applying to
o Interviews last for seven days (excluding Sundays and non-working
holidays)
An applicant must apply in only one committee.
o The applicant may not drop his or her bid at least one day before
the deliberations
Before the deputy deliberations, the Executive Board must do the following:
Secretary-General must compile all free schedules
Set final dates for the deadline of the application forms and interview
Meet at least three weeks before the first day of the interview week and
continue meetings if needed
Present and assess the qualities and roles needed for each committee
Present and assess the application forms and interview guidelines
Send out promotions at least two weeks before the first day of the
interview week
Reserve a quiet venue for the deliberations
Check, review and discern on submitted application forms as soon as
possible
Interview applicant with another Executive Board member to handle
note-taking
During the deputy deliberations, the Executive Board must do the following:
A quorum (2/3+1 of the total number of the EB) must be physically present
Start and end with a prayer
The President must remind the Executive Board of the rules in deliberation:
o Openness
o Context of Prayer
The flow of the deliberations will be patterned after the Executive Board
structure of that year
The Committee Head will present the list of applicants alphabetically and
rank each one from 1st to last
After presentation, the floor is open for questions
Once there are no more questions, a moment of silence will be observed,
thereafter the President asks if there are still questions
o In the event that there are none, the President asks the committee
head “panatag ka na ba?”
o If the committee head answers yes, the President replies “si [name
of applicant] ay magiging [committee] deputy ng Ateneo Student
Catholic Action sa [1st or 2nd semester] ng taong [school-year],
bagsakan natin” and the EB claps in unison.
o If the committee head answers no, the round of deliberations
continue until the committee head is assured of his or her choice.
